  • Today, many of communication methods based on print media traditionally has moved to the internet. As increase of interest in internet business, effective web site design is needed. While the researches for the evaluation of completed web site are increased, that of web site design procedures are rare. In the design process occur various problems : rework, delay, etc.. In this paper are presented the improved procedures of web site design using 6 sigma methodology. The main object of this study is to introduce an empirical study on DIDOV.

  • The Korean Peninsula, located at the southeastern tip of the Eurasian Plate, is known to be tectonically stable, and no critical evidence has yet been found that would override the safety design of nuclear facilities in South Korea. Because a nuclear power plant, like other major social overhead capital facilities, could cause great damage to both the environment and society through an unexpected tectonic event, even one of extremely low probability, like the Fukushima accident, a defense-in-depth safety approach is required in geological and geotechnical site safety evaluation for nuclear projects. This paper introduces the regulatory procedures that are in place to confirm nuclear site safety and site monitoring (e.g., earthquakes and groundwater) systems applied to nuclear facilities in order to reduce inherent uncertainties within the site safety review of geological and seismological issues related with a NPP project.

  • The objective of this paper is to compare the site-to-site variability of ISO 10844 pass-by-noise test sites. In order to investigate the site-to-site variance of test surfaces, European commercial tires are tested at seven different test sites. Three Korea test sites and four Europe test sites are selected.. The pass by noise test is executed according to a 2001/43/EC regulation. A]though the ISO surface has a very specific track composition, it does not reduce the variation of pass-by-noise measurements over the surface of test sites. This paper shows that the test results of pass-by-noise level are different depending on the test sites. The correlation obtained in this work is able to predict the pass by noise level for certain test site using the data measured from another test site. 17he prediction value is range with an error within 1dB(A).

  • There are a lot of different types of noise from construction site and it depends on construction stage, equipment type and number of operating equipments. The problem is almost noise from construction site is high level and some kinds of noise levels are over 100dB. In addition, if construction site is located in downtown, there are a few options to reduce noise level. Therefore several site mitigation plans are developed to reduce different types of construction noises and it is applied in site and evaluated noise reduction performance in this study.

  • Site response analysis is widely used in estimating local seismic site effects. The soil behavior in the analysis is assumed to be Independent of the rate of the seismic loading laboratory results, however, indicate that cohesive soil behavior is greatly influenced by the rate of loading. A new equivalent linear analysis method is developed that accounts for the rate-dependence of soil behavior and used to perform a series of one dimensional site response analyses. Results indicate that while rate-dependent shear modulus has limited influence on computed site response, rate-dependent soil damping greatly filters out high frequency components of the ground motion and thus results in lower response.

  • Strong ground motions at specific sites can cause severe damage to structures. Understanding the influence of site characteristics on the dynamic response of structures is crucial for evaluating their seismic performance and mitigating the potential damage caused by site effects. This study investigates the impact of the average shear wave velocity, as a site characteristic, on the seismic response of low-to-medium-rise reinforced concrete buildings. To explore them, one-dimensional soil column models were generated using shear wave velocity profile from California, and nonlinear site response analyses were performed using bedrock motions. Nonlinear dynamic structural analyses were conducted for reinforced concrete moment-resisting frame models based on the regional information. The effect of shear wave velocity on the structural response and surface ground motions was examined. The results showed that strong ground motions tend to exhibit higher damping on softer soils, reducing their intensity, while on stiffer soils, the ground motion intensity tends to amplify. Consequently, the structural response tended to increase on stiffer soils compared to softer soils.

  • In the companion paper (II, Development of Site Classification System), new size classification system based on site periods $(T_G)$ was recommended for legions of shallow bedrock depth in Korea. Despite the site classification method was improved, the response spectrum would be required to be modified by adjusting the integration interval to calculate the site coefficients because the response spectra did not match well the average spectral accelerations obtained by site response analyses in the range of long periods. In this paper, new response spectra for each site categories were determined by adjusting the integration interval of long period site coefficient $F_v\;from\;0.4{\sim}2.0\;to\;0.4{\sim}1.5$ second. It matched well the average spectral accelerations and new response spectrum, and it was also improved compared to the current she classification system.

  • The government and of the Safety and Health Corporation have continuously carried out safety activities such as supervision, inspection, technical guidance and financial support in order to reduce accidents on the construction site. However, the number of disasters on the construction site is increasing every year, Which accounts for more than 80% of the total number of casualties. It is necessary to investigate the implementation status of safety and health management in the field of small-size construction site, and to provide the appropriate technical guidance plan to the relevant work places. Also, it is necessary to reduce the disaster at the small-size construction site, The purpose of this study is Improvement Plan to Enhancing the Effectiveness of Technical Guidance Project for Safety Control of Small Construction Site.

  • This study showed that on-site ferrate(VI) solution was synthesized by wet oxidation method and applied aqueous 2,4-dichlorophenol(DCP) solution to evaluate the degradation efficiency. On-site ferrate(VI) solution was synthesized by putting $FeCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$ in the strong alkali solution with NaClO and NaOH and applied DCP solution directly. DCP solution was extracted by the liquid-liquid method and analyzed by GC-ECD. The factors such as pH, DCP initial concentration, injected ferrate(VI) dosage, temperature were investigated. The optimum pH and temperature conditions of DCP degradation were obtained in neutral condition and $35^{\circ}C$. And the experimental results showed that DCP removal efficiency also increased with the decrease of DCP initial condition and the injected ferrate(VI) dosage.

  • Estimation of geotechnical properties is an essential but challenging task since they are major components governing the safety and reliability of the entire structural system. However, due to time and budget constraints, reliable geotechnical properties estimation using traditional site characterization approach is difficult. In view of this, an alternative efficient and cost effective approach to address the overall uncertainty is necessary to facilitate an economical, safe and reliable geotechnical design. In this paper a probabilistic approach is proposed for real-time updating by incorporating new geotechnical information from the underlying project site. The updated model obtained from the proposed method is advantageous because it incorporates information from both existing database and the site of concern. An application using real data from a site in Hong Kong will be presented to demonstrate the proposed method.
