이종기판을 사용한 저온에서의 실리콘 박막 용액 성장법 (Low temperature solution growth of silicon on foreign substrates)

  • 금 비스무스 용매를 사용하여 실리콘 박막을 사파이어, 보로실리케이트 그라스 기판상에 성장시켰다. 사파이어의 경우 $380~460^{\cire}C$ 에서 14 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 두께의 실리콘막이 성장되었으며, 그라스 기판의 경우 $420~520^{\circ}C$ 온도 범위에서 수백 $\mu\textrm{m}$ 사이즈의 큰 결정립이 형성되었다. 이결과는 저가의 박막태양전지를 제조하는데 응용될 것으로 사료된다.

  • Method of plasma-immersion ion deposition of hydrogenated DLC films on relatively thick flat dielectric substrates from plasma of not-self-sustained low-pressure gas arc discharge is suggested. Coating properties have been investigated experimentally, average energy Per a deposited carbon atom depending on discharge current has been calculated. Optimum deposition parameters lot obtaining sufficiently hard and transparent high-adhesive a-C:H films on a 4-mm thick glass substrates have been determined. Possibility to use these coatings for photo-tools protection from abrasion wear at low operating loads is shown in general.

  • As a method of simple patterning of transparent conductive oxide (TCO) films deposited on flexible substrates, laser direct etching was carried out on TCO films sputtered on polycarbonate (PC) substrates. As a result of different binding energies in TCO films, indium tin oxide (ITO) and indium gallium zinc oxide (IGZO) were more easily etched than zinc oxide with different $Nd:YVO_4$ laser beam conditions.

  • Growth characteristics and microstructure of AlN thin films grown by plasma assisted molecular beam epitaxy on Si substrates have been investigated. Growing temperature and substrate orientation were chosen as major variables of the experiment. Reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED), X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy/diffraction (TEM/TED) techniques were employed to characterize the microstructure of the films. On Si(100) substrates, AlN thin films were grown along the hexagonal c-axis preferred orientation at temperature range 850-90$0^{\circ}C$. However on Si(111), the AlN films were epitaxially grown with directional coherency in AlN(0001)/Si(111), AlN(1100)/Si(110), and AlN(1120)/Si(112) at 85$0^{\circ}C$ and the epitaxial coherencry seemed to be slightly distorted with increasing temperature. The microstructure of AlN thin films on Si(111) substrates showed that the films include a lot of crystal defects and there exist micro-gaps among the columns.

중적외선 영역의 DLC 코팅된 ZnS 기판의 광학 특성 (Optical Properties of DLC-coated ZnS Substrates in the Mid-infrared Region)

  • ZnS substrates with excellent transmittance in the mid-infrared region ($3-5{\mu}m$) were prepared using hot pressing instead of conventional chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Diamond-like carbon(DLC) was coated on either one or both sides of the ZnS substrates to improve their mechanical properties and transmittance. More specifically DLC was coated using CVD with an Ar and $C_2H_2$ mixed gas, and Ge was used as the bonding layer. During CVD, the bias voltage was fixed to 500 V and analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), nanoindenter, scanning electron microscope and energy dispersive spectrometry. Results of hardness analysis using the nanoindenter, showed that DLC coating increased from 5.9 to 17.7 GPa after deposition. The FT-IR spectroscopy results showed that, in the mid-infrared region ($3-5{\mu}m$), the average transmittance of the samples with DLC coating on one and both sides increased by approximately 6% and approximately 11.2% respectively. In conclusion, the DLC coating improved the durability and transmittance of the ZnS substrates.

Effect of the Addition of β-Hydroxybutyrate to Chemically Defined Maturation Medium on the Nuclear Maturation, Sperm Penetration and Embryonic Development of Porcine Oocytes In vitro

  • We investigated the effects of various concentrations of ${\beta}$-hydroxybutyrate (BHB, 0, 0.1, 1 and 10 mM), a ketone body, added to chemically-defined maturation medium with or without energy substrates (glucose, pyruvate and lactate) on nuclear maturation rates up to the metaphase stage of the second meiotic division (M-II stage). In addition, we also assessed the influence of BHB on glutathione content, sperm penetration rate and embryonic development up to the blastocyst stage of oocytes matured under the presence of these energy substrates. Nuclear maturation rates up to the M-II stage of oocytes matured with BHB in each concentration group did not show a significant increase compared with the control (0 mM) groups in both the presence and absence of energy substrates. Although glutathione contents were not significantly different in each BHB concentration group, the sperm penetration rate in the 1 mM BHB group was significantly higher (p<0.05) and the embryonic development rate of oocytes up to the blastocyst stage was significantly lower (p<0.05) than the respective values of the control groups. These results suggest that BHB added to a chemically-defined maturation medium may stimulate sperm penetration while inhibiting embryonic development of porcine oocytes.

텅스텐산화물/금속기판의 광전극 특성 (Photoelectrochamical characteristics of $WO_3$ on metal substrate for hydrogen production)

  • Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) supported on glass are widely used as substrates in PEC studies for photovoltaic hydrogen generation applications However, high sheet resistane ($10{\sim}15{\Omega}/cm^2$) and fragileness of glass-supported TCO substrates are the obstacles to produce the large area PEC cells. Such internal sheet resistance is detrimental to efficient collection of photogenerated majority charge carriers at the photoactive material and electrolyte interface. Moreover, these TCO substrates are very expensive and consume about 40~60% cost of the devices. Hence, a low sheet resistance of the substrate is a key point in improving the performance of PEC devices. Metallic substrates coated with a photoactive material would be a good choice for efficient charge collection. Such metal substrates based photanodes are best candidate for large-scale phtoelectrochemical water splitting for hydrogen generation. In this study, we report the enhanced PEC performance of $WO_3$ film on metal(chemical etched, bare) substrate. It is proposed that interface between $WO_3$ and the metal substrate is responsible for efficient charge transfer and demonstrated significant improvement in the photoelectrochmical performance. X-ray diffration and FESEM suduies reveled that $WO_3$ films are monoclinic, porous, polycrystalline with average grain size of ~50nm. Photocurrent of $WO_3$ prepared on metal substrates was measured in 0.5M $H_2SO_4$ electroyte under simulated $100mW/cm^2$ illumination.
