Purpose: This study was designed to construct a structural model for explaining model health-related quality of life in acquired people with physical disabilities. Method: The hypothetical model of this study was consisted of 6 latent variables and 14 observed variables. Exogenous variables included in this model were physical status and economical level. Endogenous variables were social attitudes, family function, self-esteem, and health-related quality of life. Data were collected from 226 acquired people with physical disabilities residing in Seoul and Kyunggi-do from January to February, 2005. The collected data were analyzed using SAS 8.2 version and LISREL 8.32 version program. Results: The results of the fitness test of the modified model were follow as; ${\chi}^2=67.479$ (df=50, p=.05), GFI=.959, AGFI=.914, SRMR=.049, NFI=.961, NNFI=.979, CN=249.244. Health-related quality of life was influenced directly by physical status, economic level, and social attitudes and accounted for 88.8% of the variance by these factors. Conclusion: These results suggest that physical status is the most significant effect on health-related quality of life, and social attitudes and economic level are important factors having influences on health- related quality of life. Therefore improving physical status and economic level, and modifying negative attitudes are necessary to increase health-related quality of life of acquired people with acquired physical disabilities.
This study is about comparing coal thermal plant to LNG combined power plant in respect of environmental and economic cost analysis. In addition sensitive analysis of power cost and discount rate is conducted to compare the result of change in endogenous and exogenous variable. For environmental assessment, when they generate 10,669GWh yearly, coal thermal power plant emits sulfur oxides 959ton, nitrogen oxide 690ton, particulate matter 168ton and LNG combined power plant emits only nitrogen oxide 886ton respectively every year. Regarding economic cost analysis on both power plants during persisting period 30 years, coal thermal power plant is more cost effective 4,751 billion won than LNG combined taking in account the initial, operational, energy and environmental cost at 10,669GWh yearly in spite of only LNG combined power plant's energy cost higher than coal thermal. In case of sensitive analysis of power cost and discount rate, as 1% rise or drop in power cost, the total cost of coal thermal power plant increases or decreases 81 billion won and LNG combined 157 billion won up or down respectively. When discount rate 1% higher, the cost of coal thermal and LNG combined power plant decrease 498 billion won and 539 billion won for each. When discount rate 1% lower, the cost of both power plant increase 539 billion won and 837 billion won. With comparing each result of change in power cost and discount rate, as discount rate is weigher than power cost, which means most influential variable of power plan is discount rate one of exogenous variables not endogenous.
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of online game properties, social interaction, and player satisfaction on intention to online games in Chinese gamers. Research design, data, and methodology - This study is an empirical analysis assuming that properties of online games, social interaction and satisfaction will induce Chinese gamers' intention to play online games. We set the relationship between the six variables as follows. First, the properties of online games, exogenous variables, were identified by three factors: entertainment, security, participation and challenge. Second, we had input social interaction among gamers as another exogenous variables. Third, the gamer's satisfaction of online games was added to the research model as a mediating variable between exogenous variables and endogenous variables. Finally, gamer's intention to play influenced by satisfaction and social interaction was used as final endogenous variable. The data used for the empirical analysis were collected through questionnaires for Chinese under age 35 who enjoy the online games. The data used in the research were finally extracted from 195 questionnaires. The collected data were tested through the analysis of the measurement model (Step 1) and the analysis of the structural model (Step 2). The covariance structure equation model (SEM) was used for the analysis. The measurement model and structural model were evaluated by the maximum likelihood method. Results - The results of the empirical analysis are as follows. The satisfaction of online games were entertainment and security had a significant effect to satisfaction; but participation and challenge and social interaction had no significant effect on satisfaction. The social interaction among gamers and the satisfaction with online games have a significant influence on the intention to play online games. As a result, the attributes of the game were affecting the intention to play the game after satisfaction. Social interaction influenced the intention to play online games rather than satisfaction itself. Conclusions - This study provide some practical implications for the new companies who want to enter the online game industry and seek to competitiveness in China, and provide theoretical implications on the role of interaction among gamers in the study of online games.

This study utilizes structural equation modeling process to identify contributing factors that have been extracted through the first study of exploring library service and image building related factors. This study, specifically, tests the relationships between endogenous and exogenous variables that are assumed to have inherent relationships when building public library service image. As denoted from the first study, this one uses three dimensions and nine conceptual level constructs and 20 different measurement items for further test. The results of this study is that particular items to measure the image for the users would not have been fitted to the other set of samples. Also, there are differences between the two employee groups in the recognitions of images.
This study was carried out to forecast long-term supply and demand of chestnut and to analyze the impacts of change in the environment of domestic and international chestnut markets. For these ends, the study developed a partial equilibrium market model, in which in-shelled chestnut market was vertically linked to shelled chestnut market. To examine the predictive ability of the model for the endogenous variables ex-post simulation was run for the period 1990 through 2003. In general, all endogenous variables reproduced the historical trends during the period except for disuse areas and newly established areas. The results of forecasting supply and demand show that domestic in-shelled chestnut production is estimated to decrease slightly from 76,447 ton in 2005 to 76,286 ton in 2020 and that exports of shelled chestnut continue to be decreased.

The primary purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between service quality, Place attachment and destination loyalty in the local festival field. Sampling was conducted at the Flower Blossom Festival in Juju, 2004. Data were collected through on-site surveys by face-to-face interview for three days-between April 4th and April 6th. Data analyses were carried out by using structural equation model. Two hypotheses were tested to represent the relationships between exogenous and endogenous variables. The exogenous variable selected for this study is service quality Endogenous variables are place attachment and destination loyalty. The findings provided a supported structural model of the relationships between service quality, place attachment and loyalty. Festival visitors who perceive high service quality tend to have high place attachment that leads to the intention to revisit and positive word-of-mouth to others. The results of this study suggest that festival managers need to understand visitors' perception of service quality, place attachment in order to better predict their destination loyalty.
Purpose - This study examined the effect of tariff cuts on productivity in Korea's manufacturing industries and the effect of initial productivity level before tariff cuts on productivity improvement after tariff cuts. We also attempted to identify whether import-driven or export-driven factors are more important for productivity improvement, especially in low productivity industries. Design/methodology - Since tariff reduction is a policy decision that can affect cross-industry, its impact is spread across all industries beyond the scope of a single firm through the input and output network of industry structure. Accordingly, we proposed a new method to measure the change in productivity to reflect the impact of tariff cuts across industries. Through an Armington CGE analysis, changes in endogenous variables can be directly measured after the exogenous shock of tariff reduction, and the amount of movements in productivity triggered by tariff cuts can also be calculated. We can thus assess the effectiveness of exogenous policy, such as tariff cuts, through the difference between the benchmark and counterfactual values of endogenous variables. Findings - This study confirmed that tariff reduction positively affected productivity improvement in Korea's manufacturing industries. It also confirmed that productivity gains occur in Korea's leading export industries. Finally, greater productivity gains were recorded in the group with additional high-export-share or high-import-share conditions for low productivity industries. These results are, in a limited sense, consistent with the existing studies that emphasize the importance of exports and imports on productivity improvement, especially for low productivity industries. Originality/value - The results of our experiments are different from those of non-CGE studies, which measure the industry-level change in productivity with dummy coefficients, in terms of directly calculating the amount of change in productivity. In addition, we propose that the Armington CGE model is more appropriate than the Melitz CGE model to directly measure the productivity after tariff cuts. This is because the Melitz CGE model assumes the given specific productivity density, which does not change after an overall drop of tariffs. To the best of our knowledge, this approach to directly calculating productivity by reflecting the impact of tariff reduction across industries through CGE analysis, is unprecedented in this literature.
The purpose of this research is to explore the explanatory factors of preference for the universality of the welfare system at the time of expanding the welfare system. In particular, considering endogenous problem that may occur in the process of analyzing the causal relationship between subjective perception and preference for welfare policy, the 2SLS regression analysis using instrument variables was attempted in this research. The key findings of this research were as follow. First, the groups who are opposed to the welfare state expansion, for example high income earners, low risk group, and employer/self-employer, prefer the more universal welfare systems. Second, the negative perception of welfare policy and recipients, which is stronger in older generation who experienced a much longer period of industrializaion, have a negative effect on preference for the universal welfare system. Last, we find that the endogenous problem arise in this research and distort the estimated regression coefficients. Therefore, subsequent studies must be mindful of this problem when they explain attitudes with attitudes.
This study examines the interrelationship between coastal passenger demand and fares for 101 coastal passenger routes in Korea during the 2018 to 2022 period. The two-stage least squares method through a panel data simultaneous equations model was estimated to the effects of individual route characteristics and regional characteristics on the performance and fares of coastal passenger transportation. The estimated results indicate that the endogenous variable, fare, and the exogenous variables, route characteristics, route distance, and the instrumental variable, frequency, affect the demand for coastal passengers. In the short-run pricing function, the exogenous variables, capacity, speed, and route distance, as well as the endogenous variable, coastal passenger transportation performance, affect the coastal passenger fare. This study is expected to provide useful implications for domestic coastal passenger demand and pricing in relation to coastal passengers.
This study developed the Korean roundwood import prediction model using vector autoregressive (VAR) method. The roundwood was divided into softwood and hardwood by species. The VAR model of roundwood import was specified with two lagged endogenous variables, that is, roundwood import volume and roundwood import price. The results showed that the significance levels of F-statistics in the softwood and hardwood roundwood import equations rejected the hypothesis that all coefficients are zero. So, we concluded that roundwood import volume can be explained by lagged import volume and lagged import price in Korea. The coefficient signs of all variables were as expected. Also, the model has good explanatory power, and there is no autocorrelation.
