This paper presents the relationship between the pace of structural change and the magnitude of employment growth in the manufacturing sector in OECD countries. To measure the pace of structural change, the compositional change index in value-added in manufacturing sector is introduced. For mid to long-term there seems to be a positive relationship between the pace of structural change and the magnitude of employment growth. In those countries with higher value of the compositional index, the employment growth in manufacturing sector was generally higher. To analyse the characteristics of structural change in manufacturing sector, this paper classifies manufacturing industries into groups: one based on technology, one on orientation, one on wages and one on skills. The international comparison of manufacturing sector's employment patterns based on above four classifications are presented. International comparison suggests that Korean manufacturing sector move into jobs with more skills and knowledge The structural change of SMEs and large firms are compared based on above four classification methods. It is shown that SMEs' employment in low value sectors, that is low-technology, labor-intensive, tow-wage, and unskilled sectors, have risen faster than SMEs' employment in high-technology, science-based, high-wage and skilled sectors. Large firms' employment have been mainly increased in high value sectors. However, the employment growth of both large and small firms have been concentrated on production worker-intensively-using sectors, i.e. unskilled sectors. This widened the wage differential of production workers by firm sizes and concurrently led to severe shortage of production workers for SMEs, which has little ability to pay high wage to production workers because they usually belong to low-wage sectors. Korea need to push SMEs forward to high value sectors. The premise of that is, however, to pull large firms out of production worker-intensively-using sectors.

The authors of the article investigate the impact of digitalization on the forms change of employment and the labor market in the modern conditions. It is substantiated that digitalization processes directly affect the change of forms of employment and the range of occupations in the labor market, as well as the change of jobs. The positive and negative consequences of changing forms of employment for the economy in the process of digital transformation are analyzed, which include: reduction of personnel costs by employers; dissemination of non-standard, informal employment (electronic freelance, electronic outsourcing, start-employment); enabling employees to manage their working hours; increasing unemployment and imbalance of supply and demand in the labor market; reduction of productivity of enterprises, as a result of reduced productivity of workers with non-standard forms of employment, or with a negative indirect impact on productivity. A model for managing the process of digitalization in the labor market of Ukraine under different scenarios of their implementation, namely evolutionary and forced is devoted. To recognize the possible change in the level of employment in connection with the implementation of the forced scenario of digitalization in Ukraine, a model for estimating probable changes in the labor market is proposed. The directions of development of the state strategy of prevention of risks of reduction of number of workplaces in the course of digitalization are outlined.
This study has been conducted to assess the effectiveness of the elderly employment programs through change of social capital by understanding how the elderly employment programs in the elderly employment policy of Korea has effected the change of social capital. The method of research was to design the research in the nonequivalent control groups design from the quasi-experimental design for the 500 elderly who participated and 250 who have not participated in the elderly employment programs through distributing structured questionnaire by classifying into before and after the project during 7 months from March 1, 2010 to September 30, 2010 to those above 65 living in Changwon. The social capital which is an important variable among the measurement index of the study has been set as trust, network, and social participation fields based on the aforementioned theoretic background. When the fact that there is a partial difference in the change of social capital of the elderly according to the participation in the elderly employment programs and the timing (before/after) is looked at in terms of change of social capital after controlling the general character of the elderly and the pre-score, there are differences per timing according to the participation in the elderly employment programs. Thus, the participation in the elderly employment programs had a significant difference in the change of social capital. It is possible to see that the trust, network, and social participation of the social capital all increased in the elderly with difficulties in their living status. It can be seen that the participation in the elderly employment programs brings forth increase of social capital for the elderly with difficulties in their living status. Among the social capitals, the elderly who participated in the elderly employment programs showed that the trust increased the most. Consequently, in order to increase the comprehensive social capital, the programs must be carried out focused on the vulnerable class in parallel to the elderly employment programs for the general elderly of other classes.
Background: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between changes in employment status and new-onset depressive symptoms through a one-year follow-up of permanent waged workers. Methods: We analyzed the open-source data from the Korea Welfare Panel Study. Using the 2017 data, we selected 2,314 permanent waged workers aged 19 to 59 years without depressive symptoms as a base group. The final analysis targeted 2,073 workers who were followed up in 2018. In 2018, there were five categories of employment status for workers who were followed up: permanent, precarious, unemployed, self-employed, and economically inactive. Multiple logistic regression was used to determine the association between employment status change and new-onset depressive symptoms. Results: Adjusted multiple logistic regression analysis showed that among male workers, workers who went from permanent status to being unemployed (odds ratio: 4.50, 95% confidence interval: 1.19 to 17.06) and from permanent status to being precarious workers (odds ratio: 3.15, 95% confidence interval: 1.30 to 7.65) had significantly high levels of new-onset depressive symptoms compared with those who retained their permanent employment status. There were no significant increases in new-onset depressive symptoms of male workers who went from permanent status to being self-employed or economically inactive. On the other hand, no significant differences were found among female workers. Conclusion: Our study suggests that the change of employment status to precarious workers or unemployment can cause new-onset depressive symptoms in male permanent waged workers.

This paper develops a Sustainable Regional Economic Growth Model (SREG) which estimates the relation of labor population change and employment increase in each occupation and maximum limits and minimum requirements of employment increase by labor population change in a specified region using multiplier theory. To develop the proposed model, sustainable regional economic growth is defined as a steady increase of labor population over a long term period and the limit of employment increase is defined as the estimated labor population change in the region with no need for commutation from the surrounded areas. Developed model was applied to 67 county in Pennsylvania State and the results revealed that the investment in infrastructure occupations, such as transportation, warehousing, utilities, information, communication, and other public utilities, maximizes the effects for increasing employment, whereas finance, insurance, and real estate occupations have minimum effects for increasing employment. Calculated minimum requirements of occupations show that infra-structure occupations is a critical factor for labor population change and maximum limits of occupations show that agriculture and finance occupations are difficult to increase independently.
The purpose of this study was to investigate factors influencing role adaptation in newly employed nurses and the consistency between role expectations before employment and after one year of employment. The results of this study may contribute to strategy development towards positive role adaptation in newly employed nurses. The data used in this study were collected from 111 nurses, the sample was drawn from all newly employed professional nurses working at Y Medical Center in 1987. The data were collected longitudinally in the 2nd - 3rd weeks, the 3rd month and the 12th month after employment. The results of this study were as follows : 1. The degree of change the importance of factors influencing role adaptation and the length of time after employment were investigated. the result showed that the degree of change was the greatest within the first 3 months after employment. Important factors related to role adaptation were working conditions, the environment of the assigned ward and the work load. These factors always displayed high scores without any great change over time. New employees put more importance on practical factors which were obtained through experience in their jobs rather than on ideal factors Which they had considered more important while in school. 2. Consistency between role expectation before employment and after 12 month of employment was investigated. The highest consintency item was the expectation about the variety of Patients, and the highest inconsistency was the expectation about their own welfare. An average score of 69.07 points was achieved from a maximum of 125 points for the 25 items. showing that expectations for role development before employment were not fully satisfied. In conclusion the administraor should assess the initial expectation at the time of employment of new nurses and she / he should make clear to the new nurses that these expectations may not be realistic. In this way the administrator can provide more satisfactory conditions towards the expectations of the new nurses and help them towards positive role adaptation and reduction of role conflict. Newly employed nurses have high and unrealistic expectations about socialization to the profession from their nursing educational program. It is suggested that a transitional training program should be planned and carried out for newly employed nurses.
The purpose of this study was to analyze in detail the employment characteristics of the elderly over 65 years old and to compare those that have experienced no job change in the last 10 years with another group that have experienced job change at least once in the last 10 years. From the 10th wave data(KLIP), participants who were over 65 years old were chosen and their employment status for the last 10 years was reviewed. The results of this study were as follows: first, the analysis of demographic profiles indicated that householders and elderly couples with low education levels and low socioeconomic status were more likely to be employed compared to others. Second, in terms of work-related characteristics, it was revealed that the elderly who were employed tended to be non-paid workers, employers, and self-employed workers, primarily in the farming, fishing, forestry, and the mining industries, these were the elderly workers who had experienced job change three times or more in the last 10 years. Third, the analysis of economic characteristics indicated that elderly who were employed tended to rely more on private income transfers. Last, when the elderly who had experienced no job change in the last 10 years were compared to the elderly who had experienced job change in the last 10 years, the two groups differed significantly in terms of employment status, type of business, and occupation category.
The purpose of the study was to examine the structural relationship among job satisfaction, economic condition satisfaction, change of self-worth and quality of life of Elderly Employment Program participants. An analysis was conducted on the data of the '2012 Elderly Employment Program Participants Survey'. The major findings were as follows. The job satisfaction, economic condition satisfaction, change of self-worth had positive effects to quality of life. The job satisfaction had mediator effect to quality of life through economic condition satisfaction and change of self-worth. Also, change of self-worth had indirect effect between economic condition satisfaction and quality of life. Based on the results, the implications for Elderly Employment Program practice and policy were suggested.

The change in consumption patterns depending on the increase of dual-income family can be seen as the increased demand of market service that replaces the household production service. Especially when the employment of married woman from high income class(highly educated, middle-class, upper-class) is increased, they tend to get employed in more professional and highly skilled industries, which leads to higher effect on employment induction, and consequently increasing the labor demand for low-skilled service industry.

However there are no regulations in Korea to protect employees from these undesirable situations. On the other hand Great Britain has introduced the concept of a transfer of undertakings by service provision change in 2006. It was intended to remove or at least alleviate the uncertainties and difficulties created by the need under TUPE 1981 and EU Directive to establish a transfer of a stable economic identity which retained its identity in the hands of the alleged transferee. In contrast to the words used to define transfer in the 1981 Regulations 'service provision change' is a wholly new statutory concept and distinguished from the economic entity. The new provisions seems to be straightforwards and the circumstances in which service provision change is established are clearly set out in Regulations. In this context there is no need for a judicially prescribed multi-factorial approach, as advanced by European Court of Justice like Spijkers test. The new concept of service provision change apply even though there are some minor difference or differences between the nature of the tasks carried on after service provision change as compared with before it. A commonsense and pragmatic approach is required and It is enough only to ask whether the activities carried on by the alleged transferee are fundamentally or essentially the same as those carried out by the alleged transfer. TUPE 2006 of Great Britain far exceeding the scope of the Acquired Rights Directive is full of suggestions as a model of legislation to secure a stable employment itself and favorable and fair conditions of employment. More active efforts are needed for lawmaking to prohibit a dismissal and vary conditions of employment for the reason of the transfer of undertakings itself.
