선 오염원에 의한 도로변 지역으로의 대기확산모델의 민감도 분석 - ISCST3, CALINE4 모델을 중심으로 - (Sensitivity Analysis of Air Pollutants Dispersion Model in the Road Neighboring Area Due to the Line Source -The Object on ISCST3, CALINE4 Model-)

  • The air pollutant emission is mainly caused by line sources in urban area. For example, the annually totaled air pollutant emission is known to consist of about 80% of line sources in Daegu. Hence, the appropriate assessment on the air pollutants of line sources is very important for the atmospheric environmental management in urban area. In this study, we made a comparative study to evaluate suitable dispersion model for estimating the air pollution from line sources. Two air pollution dispersion models, ISCST3 and CALINE4 were the subject of this study. The results were as follows; In the assessment of air pollution model, ISCST3 was found to have 4 times higher concentration than CALINE4. In addition, actual data obtained by measurement and estimated values by CALINE4 were generally identical. The air pollution assessment based on ISC3 model produced significantly lower values than actual data. The air pollution levels estimated by ISCST3 were very low in comparison with the observational values.

  • As the air pollution caused by diesel vehicles goes worse, so non-road vehicles exhaust gas standard is strict in an foreign countries. In this paper, we calculate the amount of emission rates from Korean railroad lines and train kinds. Air pollutants emissions are calculated using by US EPA baseline in-use emission rates which is divided line-haul and switch mode. The calculated HC emissions on the railroad diesel vehicles are 1,209.1 t from Korean railroad lines.

  • 잔류성유기오염물질(Persistent Organic Pollutants, 이하 POPs)은 환경에 노출되면 장기간 잔류하면서 인체 및 생태계에 악영향을 끼치며 또한 장거리 이동하는 특징으로 인하여 전지구적인 규제ㆍ관리의 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 이러한 필요에 부응하여 UNEP를 중심으로 국제적인 관리를 위한 논의가 이루어져 2001년 5월 스톡홀름협약(Stockholm convention for Persistent Organic Pollutants)이 당사국회의에서 채택되었고, 우리나라는 외교적 서명을 함으로써 협약가입의사를 분명히 하였다.   • Main disposal technology for industrial wasites in Korea has been landfilling, however, this is encountering serious problems such as the lack of landfill sites and objections of residents. Incineration, therefore, has become a final solution for this dilema. Various kinds of air pollutants generation are possible because of the variety of types and compositions of wastes generated in industry. In this paper, air pollutants produced while incinerating hazardous industrial wastes are discussed and some control technologies are surveryed with the purpose of optimal design of incinerators and emission reduction. From this initial stage of incinerator utilization, low-emission type should be developed and applied and intensive research on pollutant generation due to waste incineration and advanced control technologies should be also performed.

국내 다목적저동차의 오염물질 배출특성 연구 (A Study on the Exhaust Characteristics of Pollutants from Recreational Vehicle (RV) in Korea)

  • In Korea, the number of recreational vehicle (RV) has been increased dramatically recent year. Now there are emission regulations for RV which include pollutants such as CO, HC, NOx, PM. However considering the trend of preferring RV, there needs more strict strategies to control emissions from this type of vehicle. For that reason, we studied emission characteristics of RV and provided basic emission data to evaluate the contribution of RV to the total air pollutant emissions and to establish RV emission management plan. A total of 21 RV were tested on the chassis dynamometer system ranging from small to large engine displacement by vehicle speed, fuel types, regulations and fuel efficiency in order to investigate the characteristics of CO, HC, NOx and PM. For the test modes, 10 different driving speed modes and CVS-75 mode were used. On the basis of this study, RV pollutants emission factors and management strategies will be proposed.

Air Pollution Monitoring in Taiwan: An Application of Tethersonding in Coastal Central Taiwan

  • The atmospheric transportation and dispersion processes of air pollutants are important issues in dealing with air pollution problems. Air pollutants originated from biological and anthropogenic activities are not only limited to the local emission sources, but could also be transported and dispersed to other regions by synoptic weather systems. Besides, the complexity of topography of central Taiwan helps accumulating air pollutants to promote high-concentration episodes. The techniques of tethersonding were applied to monitor the vertical profiles of winds, air temperatures and humidity, as well as to collect air samples, to be analyzed for pollutants ($O_3,\;NO_2$, NO and NMHC) from the ground up to 1000 m. A time period of about one week, 19 -26 October 2002, was chosen as the sampling period due to the high frequency of episode occurrence in autumn based on the past records. Associating with the analysis of weather patterns, the atmospheric characteristics over high-concentration areas can be resolved in more detail. The result of the tethersonding studies showed that weak northerly sea breeze (with thickness about 300 m) with now wind speed (about 1 to 2 m/sec) could help develop high ozone concentrations in the down-wind areas. It is also important to have a built-up aloft of precursors and ozone to develop high concentration on the previous day.

기존 공동주택의 실내 유해화학물질 오염발생원에 대한 특성 분석 (An Analysis on Characteristics of the Pollutants and the Real Condition State of the Indoor Air Pollution in Occupied Apartment Units)

  • The aims of this study were to grasp the real condition state and clarify the characteristics and influence of pollutants on the indoor air pollution in occupied apartment units. The research method was to measure the pollution levels of indoor air pollution, and investigate characteristics of the pollutants such as the outdoor environment, elapsed time after construction, finished materials, temperature, relative humidity, space extension, purchase with furniture and electric appliances, built-in closets, and method for cleaning the air. And these were made a comparition between industrial and residential area. The VOCs and formaldehyde concentration in indoor air were measured the 6 household in residental area and 5 household in industrial area. In conclusion, the concentration such as benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, xylene, styrene showed the pollution state within permissible levels, however formaldehyde concentration has need a lot of attention as ever. And it turned out that the influence with reference to emission from building materials on indoor air pollution lessened under 18 months elapsed time after construction.

하절기 천안 제 2산업단지의 대기오염확산 및 악취물질에 관한 연구 (Dispersion of Air Pollutants Dispersion and Odorous Materials in Cheon-an Second Industrial Complex)

  • 본 연구는 천안 제 2산업단지에서 배출되는 대기오염물질과 악취물질을 분석하고 대기오염물질의 확산모델링을 수행하고자 함을 목적으로 한다. 측정은 12가지 지정 악취물질과 대기오염물질의 농도에 대하여 2005년 8월에 수행하였다. 악취물질은 주요 배출원을 중심으로 부지경계선에서 측정 및 분석을 실시하였으며, 대기오염물질은 ISCST3모델을 이용하여 대기오염확산 농도를 계산하였다. Air Master는 현재 국내 대기환경영향평가에 많이 사용되고 있고 U.S. EPA의 추천모델인 ISC3모델 중 ISCST3모델을 사용하였다. 따라서 천안 제 2산업단지를 대상으로 하절기 대기오염물질을 측정하여 모델링 하고 악취물질은 시료채취 후 분석을 실시하여 주변 지역에 영향을 끼치는 대기오염물질과 악취발생물질의 종류와 발생 원인을 규명하고자 한다.

2행정 소형엔진의 대기오염물질 배출특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of Emission for Air Pollutant by Small Two-stroke Engines)

  • In this study, pilot experiments were conducted by setting operation conditions to analyze characteristics of emission for air pollutant from small two-stroke engines. Emission factors of the measured concentration of pollutant were compared with EEA. Emission factor of CO analyzed by experiments - concentration, flow rate, fuel consumption, etc.- was estimated at 816,011 g-CO/ton-fuel in average. It was confirmed that more than 80% of the fuel consumption is discharged to the Carbon Monoxide, and that as the engine load becomes higher, emission factor of CO increases in the form of log function. The average emission factor of $NO_x$ and $PM_{10}$ was $3,801g-NO_x/ton-fuel$ and $3,730g-PM_{10}/ton-fue$l each. The deviation was not large by comparing the fuel-based emission factor of EEA and the result of this study. Since considerable pollutants are expected to be discharged from the small two-stroke engines, continuous research and support of the policy is required.

실내공기질 개선을 위한 자연소재마감재의 오염물질 방출특성 및 저감에 관한 연구 (A study on the characteristics and reduction of pollutant emission by finishing with natural materials for improving the IAQ)

  • This study aims to reduce the pollutant emission for improving the IAQ by finishing with natural materials. To investigate the concentration of pollutants such as Vocs, HCHO, both the chamber experiment and field measurement were conducted. The results of the study can be summarized as flows. (1) According to the chamber experiment of pollutant-emitting porwer of diatomite materials showed that VOCs and formaldehyde emission rates were lower and satisfied to the most on the HB Grade. (2) The field measurement of pollutant-emitting concentration of clay materials were lower 35% than other materials. (3) The Vocs and formaldehyde were most emitted from furnitures and the emission rate were found to be proportional to indoor air temperature. To control the emitted pollutants efficiently, the reasonable selection of finishing with natural materials are required.
