This paper presents a high performance 32-bit single core AES architecture. The proposed architecture employs a 5-stage pipeline: four stages in the ShiftRows/InvShiftRows module, and one stage in the MixColumn/InvMixColumn module. Circuit size reduction has been achieved through merging of the shift rows and inverse shift rows. The mix column and inverse mix column share the same resources. Three 32-bit registers replace the conventional ten 32-bit registers in the RCON architecture. The proposed architecture has been implemented in Verilog HDL, and yields 415 Mbits/s throughput with the circuit size of 13764 gate equivalents on the 0.18um CMOS process technology. This high performance architecture is suitable for wireless network router applications.

This paper presents a high-speed flash analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for ultra wide band (UWB) receivers. In this flash ADC, the interpolating technique is adopted to reduce the number of the amplifiers and a linear and wide-bandwidth interpolating amplifier is presented. For this ADC, the transistor size for the cascaded stages is inversely scaled to improve the trade-off in bandwidth and power consumption. The active inductor peaking technique is also employed in the pre-amplifiers of comparators and the track-and-hold circuit to enhance the bandwidth. Furthermore, a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is embedded for the sake of measurements. This chip has been fabricated in $0.13{\mu}m$ 1P8M CMOS process and the total power consumption is 113mW with 1V supply voltage. The ADC achieves 4-bit effective number of bits (ENOB) for input signal of 200MHz at 5-GSample/sec.

This paper focuses on the design for Rx/Tx switch module of GSM(global standard mobile) band, characterization of a miniature, low power and dual-band implementation of the front-end switch module with low-pass filer And the effort to make agreement between the simulated design and the measured data for these solutions takes the place through accumulated design and manufacturing data library. We present the design, modeling and measurement of switch module integrating GSM Rx/Tx switching circuit and LPF(low pass filter) on a LTCC(low temperature co-fired ceramic) substrate. For GSM application, insertion and return loss of the low pass filter designed was less than 0.3 dB which was less than 12.7 dB at 900 MHz. The LTCC switch module contained 10 embedded passives and 3 surface mount components integrated on 4.6$\times$4.8$\times$1.2 mm, 6-layer multi-layer integrated circuit. The insertion loss of switch module measured at 900 MHz was 11 dB. In both of the design approach yielded excellent agreement between measured and simulated results.

This paper presents a micro fluxgate sensor in printed circuit board (PCB). The fluxgate sensor consists of five PCB stack layers including one layer magnetic core and four layers of excitation and pick-up coils. The center layer as a magnetic core is made of a micro patterned amorphous magnetic ribbon and the core has a rectangular-ring shape. The amorphous magnetic core is easily saturated due to the low coercive field and closed magnetic path for the excitation field. Four outer layers as an excitation and pick-up coils have a planar solenoid structure. The chip size of the fabricated sensing element is 7.3$\times$5.7$\textrm{mm}^2$. Excellent linear response over the range of -100$\mu$T to +100$\mu$T is obtained with 540V/T sensitivity at excitation square wave of 3 $V_{p-p}$ and 360kHz. The very low power consumption of ~8mW was measured. This magnetic sensing element, which measures the lower fields than 50$\mu$T, is very useful for various applications such as: portable navigation systems, military research, medical research, and space research.h.
Battery diagnosis is vital to battery-based applications because it ensures system reliability by avoiding battery failure. This paper presents a novel intelligent battery charger with an online diagnosis function to circumvent interruptions in system operation. The charger operates in normal charging and diagnosing modes. The diagnosis function is performed with the impedance spectroscopy technique, which is achieved by injecting a sinusoidal voltage excitation signal to the battery terminals without the need for additional hardware. The impedance spectrum of the battery is calculated based on voltage excitation and current response with the aid of an embedded digital lock in amplifier in a digital signal processor. The measured impedance data are utilized in the application of the complex nonlinear least squares method to extract the battery parameters of the equivalent circuit. These parameters are then compared with the reference values to reach a diagnosis. A prototype of the proposed charger is applied to four valve-regulated lead-acid batteries to measure AC impedance. The results are discussed.

When one is interested in the dynamics of a mechanical system with electric motors, the force generated by the motor is generally considered as only an applied torque or force independent of mechanical state variables such as velocity. For a system operated in non-steady dynamic conditions, however, the usual analysis approach may fail to predict some characteristics in the dynamic behaviors because of electromechanical coupling effects. In this paper, we propose dynamics analysis model in which dc motor dynamics with the electromechanical coupling effects are embedded to mechanical dynamics models. The do motor is modeled based on its equivalent circuit model and included in the dynamics solving algorithm which we developed before, called generalized recursive dynamics formula. The developed dynamic analysis model is effective and realistic for analysis of electromechanical dynamics of a system with do motors. The developed model is evaluated by constructing and simulating the flexible antennas of an artificial satellite driven by do motors.
This paper aims to evaluate the feasibility of using no-insulation High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) coil in persistent current mode system. A HTS coil in persistent current mode system usually includes one or more non-superconducting joints in its circuit. And the current decaying rate of the coil is affected by the resistance of joint in persistent current circuit. If the resistance of joint is large, decaying rate of the current drastically increases. Therefore, reducing the joint resistance of the HTS coil is very important in persistent current mode system. In this paper, the no-insulation HTS coil is suggested as a way to reduce the joint resistance with the embedded parallel contact resistance naturally made by no-insulation winding method. Two small coils are fabricated with insulation and no-insulation winding method, and persistent current mode system experiment of each coil is preformed and analyzed.
In this paper, a push-push VCDRO (Voltage Controlled Dielectric Resonator Oscillator) with a modified frequency tuning structure is investigated. The push-push VCDRO designed at 16GHz is manufactured using a LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) technology to reduce the circuit size. The frequency tuning structure is embedded in intermediate layer of A6 substrate by an advantage of LTCC process. Experimental results show that the fundamental frequency suppression is above 30dBc, the frequency tuning range is 0.43MHz over control voltage of 0 to 12V, and phase noise of push-push VCDRO presents a good performance of -103dBc/Hz at 100KHz offset frequency from carrier.

This paper presents a method of the circuit design of the multiple-valued digital logic switching functions based on the modular techniques. Fisr of all, we introduce the necessity, background and concepts of the modular design techniques for the digital logic systems. Next, we discuss the definitions that are used in this paper. For the purpose of the circuit design for the multiple-valued digital logic switching functions, we discuss the extraction of the partition functions. Also we describe the construction method of the building block, that is called the modules, based on each partition functions. And we apply the proposed method to the example, we compare the results with the results of the earlier methods. In result, we decrease the control functions, it means that we obtain the effective cost in the digital logic design for any other earlier methods. In the future research, we require the universal module that traet more partition functions and more compact module.

In this paper, a specifically designed waveguide structure that can carry first, and second-order orbital angular momentum(: OAM) mode is proposed. The proposed optical waveguide consists of three Si stripes embedded in $SiO_2$, which is suitable for implementing on-chip integration and fabrication by standard thin film deposition and etching processes. The second-order OAM mode was generated by combining two eigenmodes, which are calculated by finite difference method(: FDM). The topological charge number of the first, and second-order OAM mode was calculated as l=0.9642 and 1.8766 respectively, which is close to the theoretical value.
