  • The thin films were obtained by plasma polymerization of phenyl isothiocyanate. Polymerizations were carried out in rf(13.56[MHz]) glow discharge generated in an inter-electrode capacitively coupled gas flow system. It was found that this monomer produces uniform films with a wide range of thicknesses, from hundreds of nanometers to tens of micrometers. The deposition rate appeared to be dependent on the substrate distance from the monomer inlet. The IR data revealed significant decrease in -NCS groups content in the polymer as compared with the monomer spectrum and indicated for the appearance of new absorption bands corresponding to the -CN and C-H aliphatic groups. The soluble fraction by GC was found to be composed of numerous low molecular-weight compounds.

Surface Characteristics of Tool Steel Machined Using Micro-EDM

  • High-speed tool steels are extensively used in tooling industries for manufacturing cutting tools, forming tools, and rolls. Electrical discharge machining (EDM) has been found to be an effective process for machining these extremely hard and difficult-to-cut materials. Extensive research has been conducted to identify the optimum machining parameters for EDM with different tool steels. This paper presents a fundamental study of the surface characteristics of SKH-51 tool steel machined by micro-EDM, with particular focus on obtaining a better surface finish. An RC pulse generator was used to obtain a better surface finish as it produces fine discharge craters. The main operating parameters studied were the gap voltage and the capacitance while the resistance and other gap control parameters were kept constant. A negative tungsten electrode was used in this study. The micro-EDM performance was analyzed by atomic force microscopy to determine the average surface roughness and the distance between the highest peak and lowest valley. The topography of the machined surface was observed using a scanning electron microscope and a digital optical microscope.

  • We investigated the effects of B-doping on the growth mechanism of ZnO films. The B-doped ZnO films, which were widely applied for transparent conducting electrode, were deposited by plasma enhanced chemcial vapor depostion(PECVD) using diethylzinc(DEZ), No.sub 2/. and B$_{2}$H$_{6}$. The deposition conditions were a sbustrate temperature of 30$0^{\circ}C$, an rf power of 200, and a chamber pressure of 1 torr. At the given depostion condition, the growth rate of B-doped ZnO thin films was higher than that of undoped ones, but didn't change even with further increasing B$_{2}$H$_{6}$ flow rate and the interplanar distance between(0002) planes was reduced as B atoms substituted Zn sites.s.

  • In this study, we produced a coil of micro-pattern that can be used for electromagnetic wave absorber, heating material, wireless charging, sensor, antenna, etc. by using electrochemical additive manufacturing method. Currently, it contains research contents for manufacturing a micro pattern coil having practicality through control of process control variables such as applied voltage, distance between electrode, and nozzle injection. Circulation of the electrolyte through the nozzle injection control can significantly contribute to improving the surface characteristics of the coil because of minimizing voltage fluctuations that may occur during the additive manufacturing process. In addition, by applying the pulse method in the application of voltage, the lamination characteristics of the plated body were improved, which showed that the formation of a fine line width plays an important role in the production of a micro pattern coil. By applying the pulse signal to the voltage application, the additive manufacturing characteristics of the produced product were improved, and it was shown that the formation of a fine line width plays an important role in the production of a micro pattern coil.

글로우 방전을 이용한 기체크로마토그라피 검출기 (A Gas Chromatographic Detector using Glow Discharge)

  • 헬리움 흐름에서 글로우 방전을 이원화원으로 사용한 기체 크로마토그라피의 검출기 특성을 연구하였다. 방전전극 사이의 거리가 1 mm 일 때, 400 V/mm 의 전장의 세기 이상에서 10$_6$A 이상의 방전전류가 관찰되었다. 유기물의 검출에는 0.1~0.3 mA의 방전전류가 적당하였다. 순수한 헬리움의 흐름에서는 10 ml/min 이상의 유속에서 방전전류가 거의 일정하였으나, 0~30 ml/min 의 유속에서는 적은양의 유기물의 주입에 의해 방전이 쉽게 사라졌다. 여러 화합물에 따른 방전전류의 감소로부터 글로우 방전 이온화 기체크로마토그라피 검출기의 감도는 그 화합물의 분자량에 크게 영향받음을 알았다.

  • Recently, ultrasound, infrared detector, V-I characteristic, gas analysis, UV (ultra-violet rays) camera etc. is used as inspections and diagnoses of the safety of power equipment. Especially, UV camera have attracted a great deal of interest from the view point of easy judgement. UV camera is used corona discharge. One of the most important and difficult problems to be solved filer design, materials and corona discharge. This paper is studied on the temperature characteristics, UV generation and shape analysis and corona pulse count according to the electrode distance and applied voltage. Also, Corona discharge characteristics in air are analyzed using prototype UV camera of Korea. UV generation due to surface discharge of AC is higher than that of DC.

  • 전기 자극 청신경 복합활동전위(electrical compound action potential; ECAP)는 인공와우로 청신경을 자극하고 동시에 반응을 기록한다. 이 연구는 인공와우에서 ECAP의 효용성을 높이기 위하여 자극과 기록에 대하여 연구하고자 한다. 대상은 문헌 또는 사례 연구를 제외한 연구 논문 34 편으로 하였다. 연구는 펄스 및 자극 조건, 잡파 억제 및 기록 조건 등을 분석하였다. 효과적인 신경 발화, 안정적인 역치 확인, 신경 퇴행 방지 등을 위해서는 펄스폭과 위상 간격이 가급적 짧고, (-)위상이 앞선 양위상 펄스를 사용하였다. 자극은 펄스 간격, 자극비율, 자극 방식 등을 정하여 와우의 첨부, 중간, 기저회전으로 C-level 정도로 하였다. 잡파는 전방차폐법, 거푸집소거법으로 제거하였고, 분명한 파형을 획득하기 위해서는 전극 간격, 증폭 정도, 평균 가산 회수 등의 추가 조절이 필요하다.

방전에너지 제어에 의한 최소점화에너지의 고찰 (A Study on Minimum Ignition Energy by Controlled Discharge Energy)

  • It is important to know Minimum Ignition Energy(MIE) of flammable materials for ignition hazard of chemical processes etc.. Currently a capacitor discharge is used mainly to measure the MIE. Then, it is impossible to control actively discharge energies and discharge time because the MIE measurement uses a high voltage capacitor and fixed capacitor. However, the control of discharge energy and discharge time will be convenient if self-sustain discharge is used. In this paper, we measured the MIE by self-sustain discharge of a pulse shape to propose the new measuring method of the MIE. AS a result, ignition energies are increased gradually as discharge duration time gets longer, and discharge current grows larger. Also, an arc discharge and a glow discharge occurred during the experimental period, and the ignition by glow discharges happened when discharge duration time was $90{\mu}s$, discharge current was 8A and 1A Especially, the MIE occurred the 0.05mm and 0.08mm of the gap distance between discharge electrode in the same discharge duration time.

  • We have studied how liquid crystal's rubbing direction and voltage driving method affect generation of disclination line. At first, generation of disclination line in vertical alignment(VA) cell and VA-twisted nematic(TN) cell has been examined. When liquid crystal's rubbing direction of bottom substrate was 0$^{\circ}$, the degree of generated disclination line was the smallest value. Further, the generation of disclination line above the electrode is less in the frame inversion than in the line inversion. Secondly, we have examined a generation of disclination line in reflective fringe-field switching cell. When the distance between common electrodes is over 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ with on-state of one pixel and off-state of neighboring pixels, the reflectance appears only on-state pixel without generating reflectance in adjacent pixels.

  • In our study, the PTFE nozzle ablation in the high-voltage self-blast type $SF_6$ gas circuit breaker was investigated. The test circuit breaker has the structure that the pin electrode is moving and the pressure reservoir volume and the dimension is almost same as commercial 145kv 40kA circuit breaker for similar result in real circuit breaker. The variation of current and arcing time was the range of $36kA_{rms}$(symmetry) - $40kA_{rms}$(asymmetry) and 10-16 ms. From the measured data the tendecy of the mass loss of the nozzle to current load and arc energy was estimated. In this process, the distance from the arc to nozzle(PTFE) surface, area which was exposed to arc and stroke contour was considered. These results will be used to enhance the accuracy of the computational fluid dynamics analysis in circuit breaker and estimate the residual life time of a circuit breaker.
