The $SF_{6}$ gas insulated power equipments have the insulation systems which are composed of $SF_{6}$ gas and insulation paper. It is repored that their insulation abilities are influenced by the $SF_{6}$ gas gaps in those insulation systems and gas pressures. This paper describes partial discharge phenomena with $SF_{6}$ gas pressures in insulation system of $SF_{6}$ gas-insulation paper Specimens of $SF_{6}$ gas-insulation paper were prepared and aramid paper was used as insulation paper. Partial discharge inception voltages(PDIV) and breakdown voltages for the existence of $SF_{6}$ gas gaps were measured by short term tests with gas pressures. Also, average PD quantities and pulse counts, life times of each specimens were calculated from the results of long term aging tests with gas pressures. It was found that the $SF_{6}$ gas gaps decrease increasing rates of PDIV and brealdown voltages according to gas pressure increase and the insulation breakdown caused by the smaller PD quantities than 1[pC] at the high gas pressure of 300kPa is due to the increase of energy density with increase of gas pressure.
According to a sharp increase in demand for electricity supply secure, and $CO_2$ regulation in accordance with global environmental problems and to solve problems, etc. These factor less pollution, higher energy conversion hyoyulin way that the new electrical equipment, nano-composites The rapid degeneration of the unit study utilizing the power that is required is Free. Accordingly, cables, transformers and switchgear (GIS)-capacity of power equipment, such as, high-voltage high-density along with the miniaturization of equipment have made angry the reliability of these devices is becoming a very important issue. Insulation materials used in electrical equipment for high voltage withstand, power equipment, power equipment due to aging and overloading caused by a weakening of the insulation failure and replacement in accordance with the age due to increased costs because of the reliability of electrical equipment should be secured should. Therefore, improved performance and longevity of insulation material is recognized as an important challenge. In this study, power isolation and degeneration of the unit for use in various parts of the molding epoxy resin to improve the insulation performance of the epoxy resin by varying the added amount of nano-SiO2 nanocomposites made epoxy/SiO2 analysis and breakdown properties of the experiment want to improve the electrical properties through the geometry.
We used Brewster's Law to examine the mechanism of liquid crystal (LC) alignment on an organic insulation layer when subjected to ion-beam irradiation. Brewster's Law implies that the maximum rate polarized rayon a slanted insulation layers on the substrate and it illustrates the dependence of polarization and themechanical structure on the ion beam irradiation process. The pretilt angle of nematic LCs on the organic insulation surface was about $1.13^{\circ}$ for an ion beam exposure of $45^{\circ}$ for 1 minute at 1800eV. This shows the dependence of LC alignment on the polarization ratio in a slanted organic insulation layer. We also discussed the electro-optical characteristic of twisted nematic (TN) LCD using ion beam irradiation on organic overcoat layer.

Power transformer insulation oil is critical to the useful life of the transformer. Although mineral base insulation oil is the most common type of transformer insulation oil in use, environmental and safety concerns has encouraged the development of biodegradable alternatives. Today, $Envirotemp^{(R)}\;FR3^{TM}$ is in commercial use and this study is aimed at ascertaining the possibility of applying the oil in Malaysia power transformers. A sample of $Envirotemp^{(R)}\;FR3^{TM}$ was tested to measure and compare the technical (including electrical, chemical and physical) properties of the oil according to Malaysian standards. The study found that the oil sample had better qualities, such as higher dielectric strength, lower dissipation factor, higher flash and fire points, higher moisture absorption capability, and less dissolved gases composition amongst others. However, it was also ascertained that further development in this area could be hindered due to Malaysia's lack of standards for biodegradable oil.
Recently, for improvement of the magnetic field of high temperature superconductor (HTS) apparatus, many studies investigating on operating in the range of $20{\sim}65\;K$ with liquid helium or the conducting method using cryocooler are actively reviewed. Also, the cooling method using solid nitrogen as cryogen is being suggested. Since the nitrogen has very large specific heat in solid state, it is expected that it can be operated for a long time without a continuous supply of cooling energy. However, there are still insufficient data on the characteristics of solid nitrogen such as thermodynamic properties and liquid-solid phase change. Especially, there was almost no study done on the electrical insulation properties of solid nitrogen so far. In this study, solid nitrogen to find the electrical characteristics was made by using cryocooler and cryostat, and investigated the flashover discharge and breakdown. The results of this study will be useful as a basic data for electrical insulation design of the HTS system using solid nitrogen as cryogen.

The occurrence of partial discharge (PD) in solid dielectrics is very harmful because it leads to the deterioration of insulation by electrical, chemical, and thermal reactions as a combined action of the discharged ions bombarding the surface and by the action of chemical compounds that are formed by the discharge. Consequently, if any defects are present in the solid insulation system, performance decreases until the system breaks down. Therefore, removing or suppressing the defect is very important. Voids are a typical defect in the solid insulation system and are very harmful because they deteriorate insulation. As a basic step, studying the properties of PD in voids is important because an accurate knowledge of these properties is required to estimate the deterioration of voids. In this paper, the correlation between the size of voids and internal PD is discussed as a function of the time of the applied voltage and its magnitude. Magnitude, repetition rate, average discharge power, and average discharge current of PD in specimens with large voids were found to be larger than the others in this experiment. The smaller specimens had voids when the magnitude and number of PDs were reduced.
Transmission equipment is mainly used for the XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) insulation cable for ultra high voltage power to minimize power loss. The experiment examined the partial discharge characteristics according to the insertion of the bar electrode and needle electrode into the XLPE specimen and the air voids. XLPE insulation cable manufactured by T. company and tungsten electrode material by K. company were used for specimens, by adhering conductive tape on the semi-conductive material of the lower electrode of XLPE specimen with the dimension of $16{\times}40{\times}30$ [mm] was used as negative electrode. In order to investigate the PD with ${\phi}$-q-n of XLPE specimen according to the electrode shape and the size of air voids. we examined the PD by varying the voltage after applying voltage of 3~20 kV on the electrode. Therefore, it was confirmed from the result of PD characteristics of specimen that the larger the air void than the gap between electrode (+) and electrode(-), the larger effect on the discharge when the bar electrode and needle electrode inserted into XLPE, and the closer the distance between the insulation and the needle electrode, the faster insulation breakdown.
For practical electrical insulation design of high temperature superconducting (HTS) power apparatuses, knowledge of the dielectric behavior of insulators in cryogenic liquid such as liquid nitrogen ($LN_2$) is essential. So in this paper, we discussed experimental investigations of breakdown and V-t characteristics of several insulators such as Kapton and glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) that are candidates of insulator for HTS apparatus in cryogenic liquid. And we investigated the degradation of these insulation samples after breakdown with the microscope and SEM photograph. Moreover, survival and hazard analysis were performed.
This paper presents a CAE(Computer Aided Engineering)system for solving electrostatic field problems by means of a small size computer such as a personal computer. The system software operated on the personal computer is composed of a CAD(Computer aided Design), electric field analysis by using FEM(Finite Element Method)and DB(Data Base)of insulating materials. In addition, we discuss an application of the system to analyzing electric field such as parallel plate electrodes with an insulation spacer, which result suggests that the visualization of electric field distribution and tolerance for insulation strength enables us to assure a simplified evaluation of the insulating design.
Electrical breakdown strength of paper-oil and polypropylene/film-oil insulation samples was measured under dc, ac and pulsating voltages. The latter was obtained by superimposing ac upon dc volate and provides an attractive method for a simultaneous testing and assessment of the state of insulation of the various parts of HV apparatus in service. The measurements were carried out over a wide range of the pulsation ratio defined as p=Eac/Edc. The results obtained under pulsating voltages follow colsely an experssion which relates the breakdown strength to the sum of arc tangent and arc cotangent function of the parameter p. The study was carried out using dry paper as well as paper containing various degrees of moisture. The presence of moisture showed a pronounced effect upon the breakdown strength which varied with the pulsation parameter p.
