A Novel Power Frequency Changer Based on Utility AC Connected Half-Bridge One Stage High Frequency AC Conversion Principle

  • This paper presents a novel soft-switching PWM utility frequency AC to high frequency AC power conversion circuit incorporating boost-half-bridge inverter topology, which is more suitable and acceptable for cost effective consumer induction heating applications. The operating principle and the operation modes are presented using the switching mode and the operating voltage and current waveforms. The performances of this high-frequency inverter using the latest IGBTs are illustrated, which includes high frequency power regulation and actual efficiency characteristics based on zero voltage soft switching (ZVS) operation ranges and the power dissipation as compared with those of the previously developed high-frequency inverter. In addition, a dual mode control scheme of this high frequency inverter based on asymmetrical pulse width modulation (PWM) and pulse density modulation (PDM) control scheme is discussed in this paper in order to extend the soft switching operation ranges and to improve the power conversion efficiency at the low power settings. The power converter practical effectiveness is substantially proved based on experimental results from practical design example.

  • This paper presents the two lossless auxiliary inductors-assisted voltage source type half bridge (single ended push pull: SEPP) series resonant high frequency inverter for induction heated king roller in copy and printing machines. The simple high-frequency inverter treated here can completely achieve stable zero current soft switching (ZCS) commutation for wide its output power regulation ranges and load variations under its constant high frequency pulse density modulation (PDM) scheme. Its transient and steady state operating principle is originally described and discussed for a constant high-frequency PDM control strategy under a stable ZCS operation commutation, together with its output effective power regulation characteristics-based on the high frequency PDM strategy. The experimental operating performances of this voltage source SEPP ZCS-PDM series resonant high frequency inverter using IGBTs are illustrated as compared with computer simulation results and experimental ones. Its power losses analysis and actual efficiency are evaluated and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results. The feasible effectiveness of this high frequency inverter appliance implemented here is proved from the practical point of view.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated High-Tc Superconducting (HTS) microstrip bandpass filters using Stepped Impedance Resonators(SIR) and studied on their characteristics. The $high-T_c$ superconducting $Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ epitaxial films were deposited by Pulse Laser Deposition (PLD) system on MgO. The fabricated filters were designed so as to operate in Ku band with central frequency 17.25 GHz, bandwidth 2.896% and ripple 0.01 dB. These filters were composed of parallel coupled microstrip SIR of which impedance ratio (K) are 0.5, 1.5. In the measured response, HTS filters had showed insertion loss below -0.5 dB. For comparison with normal conducting filter, we fabricated the Au counterpart that consists of the resonators as K=1.5 in the same dimension and measured performance of the Au filter. In comparison, HTS filter designed optimally got superior response to gold conterpart.

  • In the past decades, complain about ground vibration and noise induced by pile driving has been quickly increased. Because of that, auger drilled piling methods have frequently used specially in urban area. However, the present auger drilled piling methods induce inevitable ground disturbance as well as a certain degree of vibration and noise due to the final hammering. For these reasons, a new auger drilled piling method is required to be developed. This paper introduces PDT(Pulse Discharge Technology) piling method and presents the characteristics of bearing capacity. The PDT piling method is to install in-situ piles using electric power so called Pulse. The pile installed by PDT appears to be able to develop shaft and end bearing capacity efficiently. This paper introduces PDT(Pulse Discharge Technology) piling method, which is the 512nd new construction technology. The PDT piling method is to install in-situ piles using electrical power so called Pulse power. The pulse power is physical value that indicates the energy change per unit time(dE/dt). Since the pulse power is to push ground, using the pulse power is enable a hole to be expanded as well as the ground to be improved by compaction. Therefore, The pile installed by PDT appears to be able to develop shaft and end bearing capacity efficiently. In this study, couples of pile loading tests were carried out to figure out whether or not the PDT piling method is applicable to constructions like rail road facility. As a result, it was concluded that the PDT piling technique meet the requirements for such a rail road related construction.

  • Objectives : Ryodoraku, which is a physiological function test using electric current, is closely related to skin sympathetic tone. Pulse analysis is known to reflect cardiovascular reactivity. Refer to the previous researches Ryodoraku and pulse analysis have value as tools for diagnosing respiratory diseases. In this study we examined the diagnostic values of Ryodoraku and pulse analysis for respiratory disease patients. Methods : For this study. we conducted Ryodoraku and pulse analysis on 114 people, including 83 respiratory disease outpatients and 31 volunteers who did not have any respiratory symptoms or disease history. The respiratory patients were divided into three subgroups according to their symptoms: rhinorrhea group, cough-sputum group and wheezing-dyspnea group. Then we compared the disease groups with the control group. Results : When all experimental groups were compared with the control group, mean Ryodoraku was significantly lower. Mean H2, mean H3 and mean H6 were significantly lower in the rhinorrhea group (P<0.05), all the test results of Ryodoraku were evidently lower in the cough-sputum group (P<0.01), and most results of Ryodoraku were evidently lower in the wheezing-dyspnea group except H1 (P<0.01). Compared with the control group on pulse analysis, mean YP+/YP- was significantly lower in the wheezing-dyspnea group (P<0.05). Conclusion : Ryodoraku and pulse analysis were found to have a high value as quantitative diagnosis tools reflecting individuals' weakness and firmness. Nevertheless, more research is needed to find the further values.

There has been no report on the correlation between ryodoraku and pulse analysis in respiratory diseases. The present study examined the diagnostic values of ryodoraku and pulse analysis for respiratory disease patients Methods : For this study, we conducted ryodoraku and pulse analysis in 103 people including 79 respiratory disease outpatients who visited the $5^{th}$ Internal Department of the Oriental Medicine Hospital of Kyung Hee University during the period from January 1, 2003 to July 25, 2006, and 24 volunteers who did not have any respiratory symptoms or disease history. The respiratory disease patients were divided into five sub-groups according to their symptom: cough-sputum group, wheezing-dyspnea group ' nasal symptoms group. cold-prone group, and fatigue prone group. We compared the disease groups with the control group in six items as follows : mean ryodoraku, mean H1, mean elastic index, the percentage of those with mean ryodoraku below $40{\mu}A$, the percentage of those with HI beyond the physiological range, and the ratio of left : right of elastic index Results and Conclusions : Ryodoraku and pulse analysis were found to have a high value as quantitative diagnosis tools reflecting individuals' weakness and firmness. The results of this research suggest that ryodoraku and pulse analysis have value as tools for diagnosing respiratory diseases.

  • WSW(Wrap Side Wall) is proposed to decrease junction electric field in this paper. WSW process is fabricated after first gate etch, followed NMI ion implantation and deposition & etch nitride layer New WSW structure has buffer layer to decrease electric field. Also we compared the hot carrier characteristics of WSW and conventional. Also, we design a test pattern including pulse generator, level shifter and frequency divider, so that we can evaluate AC hot carrier degradation on-chip.

  • Luminous efficacy of 6.0 lm/W has been realized by introducing a spatial positive column discharge together with delayed D pulses, shared sustain pulse voltage, and low sustain frequency drive. Also a high speed addressing of $0.25{\mu}s$ was achieved. The luminance was $157cd/m^2$, which is high enough for a 260-in. FHD display.
