  • In this paper, the problem of determining cyclic schedules for a material handling hoist in the printed-circuit-board(PCB) electroplating line is considered. The objective of this research is to determine an optimal simple-cycle schedule of the hoist which in turn maximizes the line throughput rate. Previous approaches to the cyclic hoist scheduling problem are all mathematical programming-based approaches to develop cyclic schedules(Mixed Integer Programming, Linear Programming based Branch and Bound, Branch and Bound Search Method and so on). In this paper, a genetic algorithm-based approach for a single hoist scheduling in the PCB electroplating line is described. Through some experiments for the well known example data and randomly generated data, the proposed algorithm is shown to be more efficient than the previous mathematical programming-based algorithm.

  • In this paper, the Hybrid ARQ system using Reed-Solomon code is designed and performance is analyzed. The Hybrid ARQ system performs much better that FEC or ARQ system concerning throughput and reliability especially when the channel error rate is high, approximately $10^{-1}$~$10^{-2}$. Computer Simulation shows that one error is corrected, four errors are detected and codewords which are out of order by retransmission are delivered to the user in order and that performance is excellent.

  • In this paper, in other to analyze the performance of efficient key distribution protocol, we evaluate the key distribution processing method of push model like the Kerberos and pull model such as X.9.17 used in wired network. Also, we evaluate the procedure of key distribution protocol in satellite network. Besides, we analyze the performance of key distribution protocol procedure in view of delay and throughput in the case that key distribution protocol is processed based on Inband/Outband channel.

  • Diversity-multiplexing tradeoff (DMT) is an efficient tool to measure the performance of multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems and cooperative systems. Recently, cooperative multicast system with wireless network coding stretched tremendous interesting due to that it can drastically enhance the throughput of the wireless networks. It is desirable to apply DMT to the performance analysis on the multicast system with wireless network coding. In this paper, DMT is performed at the three proposed wireless network coding protocols, i.e., non-regenerative network coding (NRNC), regenerative complex field network coding (RCNC) and regenerative Galois field network coding (RGNC). The DMT analysis shows that under the same system performance, i.e., the same diversity gain, all the three network coding protocols outperform the traditional transmission scheme without network coding in terms of multiplexing gain. Our DMT analysis also exhibits the trends of the three network coding protocols' performance when multiplexing gain is changing from the lower region to the higher region. Monte-Carlo simulations verify the prediction of DMT.

  • Every bridge node participating in multiple piconets and forming a scatternet should schedule the inter-piconet traffics in an efficient manner. Frequent piconet switching due to short polling intervals for the links of a bridge node leads to considerable time slots loss caused by the guard time and power consumption for transceiving and processing. On the other hand, restrained piconet switching may result in failures of fulfilling QoS (Quality of Service) requirements for some links. Tn this paper, we present a QoS aware inter-piconet scheduling scheme minimizing the piconet switching events within guaranteed QoS requirements. According to simulation results, the proposed scheme is confirmed to have great improvement in throughput and number of switching events over the credit scheme as current inter-piconet scheduling scheme for the scatter mode.

  • Minimizing the total number of setup changes of a machine increases the throughput and improves the stability of a production process, and as a result enhances the product qualify. In this context, we consider a new product-mix problem that minimizes the total number of setup changes while producing the required quantities of a product over a given planning horizon. For this problem, we develop a mixed integer programming model. Also, we develop an efficient heuristic algorithm to find a feasible solution of good quality within reasonable time bounds. Computational results show that the developed heuristic algorithm finds a feasible solution as good as the optimal solution in most test problems.

  • As Temporal DataBase Systems(TDBSs) manages both the historical versions and the current version of each data item, a temporal transaction may access more data records than atransaction in traditional database systems. Hence, the concurrency control subsystem of temporaldatabase management system should be able to correctly and efficiently detect actual conflicts amongconcurrent temporal transactions while the cost of detecting conflicts is maintained in low levelwithout detecting false conflicts which cause severe degradation of system throughput. In this paper, Two-Level Conflict Detection(TLCD) scheme is proposed for efficient conflictdetection between concurrent temporal transactions in TDBs. In the proposed TLCD scheme, sincechecking conflict between concurrent temporal transactions is performed at two levels, i, e., logicallevel and physical level, conflicts between concurrent temporal transactions are efficiently and correctlydetected,Furthermore, we also evaluate the performance of the proposed TLCD scheme with those oftraditional conflict detection schemes, logical-level conflict detection scheme and physical-level conflictdetection scheme by simulation approach, The result of the simulation study shows that the proposedTLCD scheme outperforms the previous conflict detection schemes with respect to the averageresponse time.

  • It is practical nowadays to automate data recording in order to prevent loss and tampering of records. There are existing technologies that satisfy this needs and one of them is wireless sensor networks (WSN). Wireless body sensor networks (WBSN) are wireless networks and information-processing systems which are deployed to monitor medical condition of patients. In terms of performance, WBSNs are restricted by energy, and communication between nodes. In this paper, we focused in improving the performance of communication to achieve less energy consumption and to save power. The main idea of this paper is to prioritize nodes that exhibit a sudden change of vital signs that could put the patient at risk. Cluster head is the main focus of this study in order to be effective; its main role is to check the sent data of the patient that exceeds threshold then transfer to the sink node. The proposed scheme implemented added a time-based protocol to sleep/wakeup mechanism for the sensor nodes. We seek to achieve a low energy consumption and significant throughput in this study.

  • In this paper we introduce a bandwidth allocation algorithm and admission control policy for IEEE 802.16 broadband wireless access standard. The proposed mechanism is practical and compatible to the IEEE 802.16. Our scheme provides QoS support to high priority traffic and high throughput in low priority traffic. The simulation show that the proposed scheme includes QoS support for real-time traffic and we presented that BS determine a efficient contention mini-slot size. We have shown the relationship between traffic size and its QoS requirements and the network performance.

  • BEE 802.11 Wireless LAN protocol uses fixed transmission power. It does not consider a power control mechanism based on the distance between the transmitter and the receiver in order to improve overall channel utilization. In home environment, where stations generally lie around an AP, the AP is subject to use transmission power more than it needs. And wireless LAN stations may require different minimal desired received power. If there are many adjacent BSSs in densely populated WLAN area, they might cause RF interference to one another. In this paper we focus on the improvement of aggregate utilization by mitigating RF interference among BSSs. We show that RF interference by APs can be reduced by controlling transmission power using Link Margin information. The reduced interference will then lead to the increased aggregate throughput which is efficient resource utilization.
