  • In this paper, we present mathematical models for the ring covering problems arising in the design of multi-ring WDM networks. Also, we present efficient algorithms to solve the suggested models. By the computational experiment, our model can solve the medium-sized networks efficiently and shows better performance than the existing heuristic method. Although we propose an efficient method for the column generation procedure, branching rule that does not destroy the column generation structure is unsolved. Further research is required to develop an effective branching rule.

  • The wind turbines of various designs have been manufactured and operated for many years. The design considering the wind circumstance is required for the high efficient wind turbine, because the efficiency and characteristics of the wind turbines depends on the designs and structure of it's system. In this paper, a analysis on the output characteristic of the wind turbine according to wind velocity was performed. The results of the analysis data is desired to be used on the high efficient blade design.

  • The ${\beta}$-turn has been implicated as an important conformation for biological recognition of peptides or proteins. Benzodiazepine classes have been known as one of the non peptide ${\beta}$-turn mimic scaffolds. We have developed an efficient approach for the synthesis and derivatization of a scaffold of hydroxytetrahydrodizepinone class in order to screen compound library in various protein targets for new lead generations as well as for structure activity relationships of the scaffold. • This paper presents an efficient modeling method fur open cracked beam structures. An equivalent bending spring model is introduced to represent the structural weakening effect in the presence of open cracks. The proposed method adopts the exact dynamic element method (EDEM) to avoid the difficulty and numerical errors in association with re-meshing the structure. The proposed method is rigorously compared with a commercial finite element code. (omitted)

  • The technology development of MANET and dissemination of P2P services has been made very widely. In particular, the development of many application services for the integration of P2P services in MANET has been made actively. P2P networks are commonly used because of the advantages of efficient use of network bandwidth and rapid information exchange. In P2P network, the infrastructure managing each node in the middle does not exist and each node is a structure playing a role as the sender and receiver. Such a structure is very similar to the structure of the MANET. However, it is difficult to provide reliable P2P service due to the high mobility of mobile nodes. In this paper, we propose location-based routing technique in order to provide efficient file sharing and management between nodes. GMN managing the group is elected after network is configured to the area of a certain size. Each node is assigned an identifier of 12 bit dynamically to provide routing which uses location information to the identifier. ZGT is managed in the GMN in order to provide management of group nodes and distributed cache information. The distributed cache technique is applied to provide a rapid retrieval of the sharing files in the each node. The excellent performance of the proposed technique was confirmed through experiments.

  • The maintenance works for brick-structured buildings are a new field in Korea, and practical cases are yet inadequate so that such works may cause adverse effects of damaging the buildings after all. Therefore, this study has extracted a preservation technology believed to be most desirable in minimizing the damage to the original state of the buildings and preserving the value as the cultural assets through maintenance work details from 1986 to 2010 regarding brick-structured buildings designated as cultural properties. Firstly, a brick replacement method of using the brick used at the time of construction is efficient in replacement and repair of brick material for preserving value of cultural assets and minimizing damage of the original form. Secondly, use of lime mortar through material analysis is effective in repair of masonry joint and mortar but it is not used often due to high experimental cost. Finally, reinforcement of structure using a form for a building with severe damage is most efficient when considering additional problems. However, damage on the original form of a building can be minimized and value of a building can be preserved only when consideration on sufficient case analysis, materials to be used, and conditions of a building is supported.

  • An efficient finite element method has been introduced for analysis of metallic sandwich plates subject to bending moment. A full model 3-point bending FE-analysis shows that the plastic behavior of inner structures appears only at the load point. The unit structures of sandwich plates are defined to numerically calculate the bending stiffness and strength utilizing the recurrent boundary condition for pure bending analysis. The equivalent models with the same bending stiffness and strength of full models are then designed analytically. It is demonstrated that the results of both models are almost the same and the FE-analysis method incorporating the equivalent models can reduce the computation time effectively. The dominant collapse modes are face buckling and face yielding. Since the inner dimpled structures prevent face buckling, sandwich plates with inner dimpled shell structure can absorb more energy than other types of sandwich plates during the bending behavior.

  • In this paper, two types of techniques for the prediction of radiated sound pressure due to vibration of a structure are investigated. The prediction performance using wave-number sensing technique is compared to that of conventional prediction method, such as Rayleigh's integral method, for the prediction of far-field radiated sound pressure. For a coupled plate, wave-number components are predicted by the vibration response of plate and the prediction performance of far-field sound is verified. In addition, the applicability of distributed sensors that are not allowable to Rayleigh's integral method is considered and these can replace point sensors. Experimental implementation verified the prediction accuracy of far-field sound radiation by the wave-number sensing technique. Prediction results from the technique are as good as those of Rayleigh's integral method and with distributed sensors, more reduced computation time is expected. To predict the radiated sound by the efficient configuration of structural sensors, composed(synthesized) mode considering sound power contribution is determined and from this size and location of sensors are chosen. Four types of sensor configuration are suggested, simulated and compared.
