The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of wastewater treatment containing surfactant. For that, comparative analysis of effectiveness of Featon Oxidation, Aluminum Sulfate, PAC (Poly Aluminum Chloride) on the treatment of the synthetic wastewater containing LAS (Linear Alkyl Sulfate), a main component of the commercial detergent was carried. Then, the optimum pH, the dosage of reagents, and the concentration of the LAS in each treatment were determined. The results of the study were summarized as following. 1. In Fenton Oxidation, optimal pH was 3 and 97.92% removal of LAS was achieved. However, the increase of the pH reduced the efficiency of LAS removal. The proper chemical dosages of FeSO$_4$ and $H_2O_2$ were 300 mg/l and the increase of dosages didn't affected the removal efficiency. Therefore, it was concluded that the economic chemical dosage was 300 mg/l of FeSO$_4$ and $H_2O_2$. 2. In case of Alum treatment, optimal pH was 11 with 61.13% removal efficiency. At other pH range, the removal efficiency was very low indicating that removal efficiency is greatly influenced by pH. The proper chemical dosage was 200 mg/l with the removal efficiency of 77.65%. The increase of chemical dosage, however, reduced the removal efficiency. 3. In case of using PAC, optimal pH was 6 with 97.99% removal efficiency. The result showed that wastewaters containing surfactant were almost completely removed at pH 6 by PAC. Removal efficiency was decreased by increasing PAC dosage higher than 400 mg/l and dosage over 700 mg/l of PAC abolished the treatment. 4. The comparative analysis of three methods revealed that the effective pH ranges were at pH 2-5 with Fenton oxidation, at pH 6-11 with PAC, and pH 11 with Alum. The removal efficiencies at these pH were 83.95-97.92%, 75.98-97.99% and 61.13%, respectively. 5. Increase in LAS concentration reduced the removal efficiencies of all three methods. In the case of PAC or Alum treatment, treatment abolished at LAS concentration higher than 700 mg/l.

Restoration, prediction and noise analysis of geomagnetic data measured in the Korean Peninsula were performed. Restoration methods based on an optimized principal component analysis (PCA) and the geostatistical kriging approach were proposed, and its effectiveness was also interpreted. The PCA-based method seemed to be effective to restore the periodical signals and the geostatistical approach was stable to fill the gaps of measurements. To analyze the noise level for each observatory, the geomagnetic time-series was plotted by scattergram which reflects the spatial variation, using data observed during same period. The scattergram showed that the observation made at Cheongyang seemed to have better quality in spatial continuity and stability, and the restoration result was also better than that of Icheon site. For the restoration, both of the methods, geostatistical and optimizaed PCA, showed stable result when the missing of observation was within 20 points. However, in case of more missing observations than 20 points and prediction problem, the optimized PCA seemed to be closer to the real observation considering the frequency-domain characteristics. The prediction using the optimized PCA seems to be plausible for one day of period for interpretation.

The purpose of this study was to develop analytic framework for dialogic argumentation to show the context and flow visualizing interactions of argumentation, to be able to present quality of argumentation specifically. For this, we formulated a method of the argumentation diagram using feature of diagram simple and structurally visualizing interrelation between argument components, and then quantified quality of argumentation to argument level score on this basis. We have developed the learning material for argumentation about a vertical circular motion and used the obtained translations from applying it in developing the framework. We chose argument statements among full transcript and then coded as Toulmin's argument components, and these codes was effectively arranged and linked to show argumentation diagram. Results by argumentation diagram could be useful understanding of interactive argumentation context and the flow and present frequency, the combination of argument elements, rough qualitative level of argumentation. To quantify argumentation quality, we gave different scores to different link lines reflecting indication of argumentation quality like that diversity of argument component, justification, presence or absence of rebuttals. The process of identification of argument level is very simple, qualitative level of argumentation represented as concrete score could present various and concrete argument level. Developed analytic framework might contribute to argumentation research field, because it can present effectively dialogic argumentation result. Also, various analysis cases might guide designing an effective argumentation practice and circular motion learning.

This study investigated the influence of paired think-aloud problem solving on interactions among the pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) components considered in the processes of making written test items by pre-service chemistry teachers. The processes of making written test items using paired think-aloud problem solving in four small groups consisting of two pre-service chemistry teachers were recorded and transcribed. The analysis of the results revealed that the 'assessment in science education' of the five PCK components, regardless of the roles (solver or listener), was most frequently used in making written test items. 'Subject matter knowledge' and 'students' were also frequently used although less than the previous component. However, 'curriculum for science education' and 'instructional strategies and instruction for science education' was a little used. In the aspects of integration, the integrations between two or three components of various types were frequently found. The integrations among four or five components were also slightly found. However, the integrations of 'curriculum for science education' with the other components were less frequently found. The integrations of 'instructional strategies and instruction for science education' with other components were hardly found. The usefulness, limitations, and effective use of paired think-aloud problem solving as a strategy improving competency to make written test items and the PCK of pre-service teachers were discussed on the basis of the results.
This study is to develop a fuel cell system applicable to an in situ NMR (Nuclear magnetic resonance) diagnosis. The in situ NMR can be used in real time monitoring of various reactions occurring in the fuel cell, such as oxidation of fuel, reduction of oxygen, transport phenomena, and component degradation. The fuel cell for this purpose is, however, to be operated in a specifically designed tubular shape toroid cavity detector (TCD), which constrains the fuel cell to have a tubular shape. This may cause difficulties in effective mass transport of reactants/products and uniform distribution of assembly pressure. Therefore, a new flow field designed in a particular way is necessary to enhance the mass transport in the tubular fuel cell. In this study, a tubular-shaped close-type flow field made of non-magnetic material is developed. With this flow field, oxygen is effectively delivered to the cathode surface and the produced water is readily removed from the membrane-electrode assembly to prevent flooding. The resulting DMFC (direct methanol fuel cell) outperforms the open-type flow field and exhibits $36\;mW/cm^2$ even at room temperature.

In the OFDM system, IQ imbalance problem happens at the RF front-end of transceiver, which degrades the BER(bit error rate) performance because it affects the constellation in the received signal. Also, phase noise is generated in the local oscillator of transceivers and it destroys the orthogonality between the subcarriers. Conventional PNS algorithm is effective for phase noise suppression, but it is not useful anymore when there are jointly IQ(In-phase and Quadrature) imbalance and phase noise. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the effect of IQ imbalance and phase noise generated in the down-conversion of the receiver. Then, we estimate and compensate the IQ imbalance and phase noise at the same time. Compared with the conventional method that IQ imbalance after IFFT is estimated and compensated in front of FFT via the feedback, this proposed method extracts and compensates effect of IQ imbalance after FFT stage. In case IQ imbalance and phase noise exist at the same time, we can decrease complexity because it is needless to use elimination of IQ imbalance in time domain and training sequences and preambles. Also, this method shows that it reduces the ICI and CPE component using adaptive forgetting factor of MMSE after FFT.

Objectives : Jakyakgamcho decoction is a traditional prescription known to be an effective pain control medication and muscle relaxant. For more localized treatment outcomes achieved in a shorter period of time, Jakyakgamcho decoction was reprocessed into a form of pharmacopuncture. An analysis of Jakyakgamcho decoction pharmacopuncture showed that there was a significant loss of paeoniflorin(Jakyak's index component). This study was designed to investigate ways to minimize this loss. Methods : After making changes to the processing methods of Jakyakgamcho decoction pharmacopuncture, we measured the quantity of paeoniflorin using high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) for a before-and-after analysis Results : Paeoniflorin loss was observed 15 minutes after sterilization with $Na_2HPO_4$ at $121^{\circ}C$ Conclusions : It was found that paeoniflorin loss did not occur when pH was not controlled for during processing.

It is well known the fact that turbo lodes has better performance as the number of iteration and the interleaver size increases in the AWGN channel environment. However, as the number of iteration and the interleaver size are increased, it is required much delay and computation for iterative decoding, and caused the flattening effect phenomenon which is very litter BER performance improvement at the arbitrary SNR. In this paper, We proposed the new asymmetric turbo codes, which consist of parallel concatenated turbo codes that use mixed types of component codes with different not only constraint length but also generate polynomial and analyzed its BER performance for log-MAP decoding algorithm with frame size of 128, 256, 512 and 1024 bits, and coding rate of 1/3. As a results of simulation, proposed asymmetric turbo codes verify that its BER performance is superior to conventional symmetric turbo codes. It can be also observed that the flattening effect phenomenon is very reduced by applying the proposed asymmetric turbo codes. It gains respectively 1.7dB ~2.5dB and 2.0dB~2.5dB SNR improvements in the case of short frame(128, 256) and large frame(512, 1024) size for the BER $10_{-4}$>/TEX> region.

In multimedia information retrieval, multimedia data are represented as vectors in high dimensional space. To search these vectors effectively, a variety of indexing methods have been proposed. However, the performance of these indexing methods degrades dramatically with increasing dimensionality, which is known as the dimensionality curse. To resolve the dimensionality curse, dimensionality reduction methods have been proposed. They map feature vectors in high dimensional space into the ones in low dimensional space before indexing the data. This paper proposes a method for dimensionality reduction based on a function approximating the Euclidean distance, which makes use of the norm and angle components of a vector. First, we identify the causes of the errors in angle estimation for approximating the Euclidean distance, and discuss basic directions to reduce those errors. Then, we propose a novel method for dimensionality reduction that composes a set of subvectors from a feature vector and maintains only the norm and the estimated angle for every subvector. The selection of a good reference vector is important for accurate estimation of the angle component. We present criteria for being a good reference vector, and propose a method that chooses a good reference vector by using Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. Also, we define a novel distance function, and formally prove that the distance function lower-bounds the Euclidean distance. This implies that our approach does not incur any false dismissals in reducing the dimensionality effectively. Finally, we verify the superiority of the proposed method via performance evaluation with extensive experiments.
For effective utilization of skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) cooking juice (SCJ), the SCJ was hydrolyzed with 0.5% neutrase at $50^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr, and the degree of hydrolysis was estimated to be 66.0% at this reaction condition. The hydrolysate was treated with charcoal and filtered under reduced pressure. The extract powder was prepared from the filtrate in a spray-dryer. The major free amino acids of the extract Powder were taurine (526.3 mg/100 g), glutamic acid (375.8 mg/100 g), phenylalanine (315.9 mg/100 g), and alanine (283.6 mg/100 g), and their content accounted for 55.4% of the total free amino acids (2,711.5 mg/100 g). Among the nucleotides and their related compounds, inosine was the major component with 76.29 mole/g. The content of betaine-N, total ceatinine-N, TMAO-N, and TMA-N were 72.2, 51.2, 10.3, and 6.9 mg/100 g, respectively. From the omission test, it was concluded that the major taste compounds of the extract powder were believed to be free amino acids such as glutamic acid and alanine. Organic acids and nucleotides and their related compounds acted an auxiliary role in the taste of the extract powder.
