Analysis of Infiltration Trench Facility for Runoff Reduction Effect (침투트렌치 시설의 유출저감 효과 분석)

  • LID planning and application has been actively developed to reduce the runoff volume at increased impervious areas due to rapid urbanization. In this study, a performance and applicability evaluation was performed in an infiltration trench using the SWMM model, based on the experimental conditions for infiltration trenches. The infiltration trench application area was applied to 5~15% of the drainage area. The SWMM results of discharge and the BOD reduction efficiency were analyzed at a peak discharge of 45.7~61.9%, total discharge of 47.2~62.3%, and BOD load of 52.3~55.3. The discharge and BOD was estimated to be 12~24% higher and 37~38% smaller than the experimental results. This study can help in the application and performance evaluation of infiltration trenches.

Estimation of Velocity Pressure Exposure Coefficient using GIS (GIS를 이용한 풍속고도분포계수 산정)

  • As an urbanization is in progress, the change of the planimetric features and topography including high-rise residential buildings commonly occur. The change of the planimetric features and topography causes occurrence of the strong wind and wind speed increase or decrease due to the effect of planimetric features and topography on the windward side even though the wind blows with the same speed. In the design standard, this change by wind speed is defined as the velocity pressure exposure coefficient, the value of coefficient is estimated and reflected by ground surface roughness, but in a reality, ground surface roughness is determined in accordance with the subjective judgement of designer and then the velocity pressure exposure coefficient is estimated, moreover the research and data for classification of ground surface roughness are insufficient. In this paper, we will estimate the velocity pressure exposure coefficient by the quantified method for classifying ground surface roughness by using GIS according to the height of a building targeting area where high-rise residential buildings are built lately. When the structure subjected to wind load is designed, reasonability of design and safety of structure will be more improved by using the estimation method of velocity pressure exposure coefficient presented in this study.

Estimation of Economics thorough Prediction of Methane Generation using IPCC Guideline from C Sanitary Landfill (IPCC가이드라인을 이용한 중소도시 C위생매립장의 메탄가스 발생량 예측을 통한 경제성 평가)

  • Global warming effect was intensified due to rapid growth of fossil fuel consumption caused by urbanization and industrialization. Various efforts was being done to solve the problems leading to anomaly climate such as flood, downpour, heavy snow. As a results of international efforts for management of global warming, Kyoto Protocol, which was passed in Kyoto, Japan in 1997, designated $CO_2$, $CH_4$, $N_2O$, HFCs, PFCs, $SF_6$ as a global warming gases. And IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) suggested IPCC guideline for systematic establishment of national greenhouse gas inventory. Among five categories in IPCC guideline, the representative emission source of waste category is SWDS(solid waste disposal site). The concentrative research should progress for effective management of greenhouse gas related with waste. In this study, Tier1 and Tier2 methods which was suggested by 2006 IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) guideline, was used to predict methane generation from C sanitary landfill located in Chungju area. To predict methane generation from C sanitary landfill, all factors were defaults values that were provided by 2006 IPCC guideline and Korea emission factors for Tier1 and Tier2 method. And economics of generated methane was estimated. From the predicted result using IPCC guideline, the methane generation was persistingly increased over a 9-year period(2000 ~ 2008). Aggregated amount of methane generation was about 3,017ton and 3,170ton predicted by Tier1 and Tier2, respectively. From the results of estimated economic value gained by generated methane from the C sanitary landfill for ten years from now(2010 ~ 2020), the profit was about 2.39 ~ 2.76 hundred million won.

Effect of New Tunnelling on the Behaviour of Grouped Pile and Adjacent Tunnel (신설 터널굴착이 지중 군말뚝 및 인접 터널의 거동에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • The demand for underground infrastructures such as tunnels is expanding due to rapid urbanization. Tunnels in urban areas are usually constructed adjacent to structures supported by piles. Therefore, a proper understanding of pile-tunnel interaction due to tunnel excavation activities is vital. Thus, in this study, a numerical analysis is conducted to analyze pile settlements, ground surface settlements and shear deformations above an existing tunnel subject to the presence of an adjacent tunnelling, with vertical offsets, the number of piles and the pile spacing considered as variables in the analysis. The results show that the vertical offsets between the tunnel crown and the pile tip generatelarger settlement than the pile spacing. In addition, the vertical offset shows an inversely proportional relationship to the shear deformation due to new tunnelling.

  • Industrialization and urbanization have caused health inequality between rural areas and cities. Health care in rural area is insufficient comparing to urban areas. This study examined the effects of social capital, Health Information, and medical communication factors on Health status in rural community using structural equation modeling. First, social capital has an effect on medical communication with physicians and medical communication impacts on health status. Second, health information orientation has an impact on health behavior and Internet health information. Lastly, health information orientation influenced by Internet health information as a mediator affects health status. As a whole, this study contributes to theoretical explanation about determinants of health status in communities by examining structural path of the effects of social factors and communication factors on health status in rural area.

Detection of Heat Change in Urban Center Using Landsat Imagery (Landsat 영상을 이용한 도심의 열변화 탐지)

  • Recently, developed countries have continuously been trying to recognize many issues about heat island in urban area and to make up countermeasures for them. This research is designed to extract change of land cover in the area under condition of land development with satellite images and to analyze its effect on the heat change in there. Heat change upon change of land cover in daejeon was analyzed with the four Landsat satellite images taken in April 1985, August 1994, May 2001, and May 2009. In order to measure the temperature on the surface in the city, the land surface temperature was produced with Landsat TM Band 6. Heat change is to detected with it. As a result, The urban area has been increased up to 23.59 percent. On the other hand, the forest area has been decreased up to 27.91%. Due to the urbanization, the temperature on the surface in urban center was higher than surrounding area. In that case, the temperature of urban center area was higher 2.4 to $5.7^{\circ}C$ compared with the forest area.

  • In situation that carbon dioxide emissions are being increased as urbanization, urban green space is being promoted as an alternative to find solution for these problems. In urban areas, trees have the ability to reduce carbon dioxide as well as to be aesthetic effect. In this study, we proposed the methodology which uses only LIDAR data in order to extract these trees information effectively. To improve the operational efficiency according to the extraction of trees, the proposed methodology was carried out using multiple data processing such as point, polygon and raster. Because the existing NDSM(Normalized Digital Surface Model) contains both the building and tree information, it has the problems of high complexity of data processing for extracting trees. Therefore, in order to improve these problems, this study used modified NDSM which was removed estimate regions of building. To evaluate the performance of the proposed methodology, three different zones which coexist buildings and trees within urban areas were selected and the accuracy of extracted trees was compared with the image taken by digital camera.

  • The SWAT(Soil and Water Assesment Tool) is a relatively large scale model for the complicated watershed or river basin. The model was developed to predict the effect of land management practices on water, sediment and agricultural chemical yields in large complex watershed with varying soils, land use and management conditions over long periods of time. Usually streams are divided into urban stream and natural stream in accordance with the development level. In case of urban stream, according to urbanization, as impermeable areas are increasing due to the change of land use condition and land cover condition, dry stream phenomenon at urban stream is rapidly progressed. In this study, long term run-off simulations in urban stream are performed by using SWAT model. Especially, the model is applied in small scale water shed, Joman River basin. The optimization by the sensitivity analysis is also performed for the model parameter estimations.

  • Expanding the supply of BIPV is crucial to strengthening the competitiveness of the photovoltaic industry and achieving Nationally Determined Contributions through the zero-energy building mandatory policy. BIPV is a technology that integrates into the building envelope to generate electricity and provide functions as a building material. It is suitable for domestic environments with many high-rise buildings due to the narrow land area and urbanization. To expand the supply of BIPV, economics, safety, and aesthetics must be ensured. In this study, a color BIPV module with a color PET film applied as a front material was manufactured for aesthetic and economic feasibility. The relationship between power output and transmittance according to color was analyzed. By analyzing the power output of the module and the transmittance of the film, the wavelength band (transmittance reduction band) that has the greatest effect on efficiency was analyzed regarding the color of the film. The red film showed the narrowest transmittance reduction band and the lowest degree of decrease in transmittance, making it ideal for minimizing the efficiency decrease rate compared to existing ones.

Site Assessment for the Water Purification Effect of Porous Concrete by using Effective Micro-organisms (유용미생물을 이용한 포러스콘크리트의 수질정화특성에 대한 현장평가)

  • In recent years, a rapid growth in the population and urbanization led to an increasing industrial growth. The inadequate treated-wasted water from industry and various non-point sources causes significant negative effects on the stream water. For past few decades, extensive researches have been performed on water purification process. The purpose of this study is to investigate mechanical performance and water purification properties of porous concrete by using effective microorganisms through the site assessment test. The mechanical performance evaluation results showed that the increase void ration caused an decrease in the strength. The optimal mix rate was found to be 15% void rate From the site assessment, it was evaluated that the porous concrete improved the quality of the water and the purification ratios are 34.1 for SS, 14.6% for BOD, 34.9% for COD, 11.4% for T-N, and 12.6% for T-P. The porous concrete and the related purification technique can reduce the non-point pollution sources flowing into the river.
