Basic study on Eco-industrial Park utilizing thermal effluents as heat source (온배수를 열원으로 활용하는 생태산업단지 조성에 관한 기초 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to know the concept of Eco-industrial Park and How to use the thermal effluents from power plants. Thermal effluents, which use sea water for cooling, from power plants have been discharged with about $6{\sim}7^{\circ}C$ higher temperature than near sea area. Therefore, it could effect on the marine ecosystem as a external pressure factor that increase the artificial thermal load in near sea area. The applications of thermal effluents had been surveyed through the several internal and external cases for utilizing heat sources and reducing the thermal load. As the precedence research for applying, the amount of heat sources of thermal effluents was evaluated. When the thermal effluents was fully applied in heat sources and available heat, assume that use heating season by 12 hours a day of demanded available heat, it was possible to calculate total 198 Tcal of energy saving.

  • Knowing the ground thermal conductivity is very importnat in designing ground heat exchangers. Knowledge of the ground soil and rock composition information dose not guarantee the prediction of accurate thermal information. In Situ testing of ground heat exchangers is becoming popular. However, in situ testing are performed at construction sites in real life. Adequate data collection and analysis are not easy mainly due to poor power quality. Power fluctuation also causes the fluctuation of received data. The power quality must be maintained during the entire in situ testing processes. To accurately analyse the test data, the understanding of the response of the power fluctuation is essential. Testing under the power quality varied by tester is very difficult. Analyzing power variation by numerical simulation is a realistic option. By varying power in a sinosuidal manner, its effects on predicting thermal conductivity from thermal response plots made from the test data are examined.

  • The aim of this study is to propose economical driving speed index which those are geometric road status; assess the levels of which those cost-benefit of driving energy consumption and emission; are search road safety design and operational technology for driving simulator. For the objective, we analyzed the current status of driving energy consumption and driving scenarios by the road alignments, and reviewed driving and technical specifications by the geometric types of road according to the implementation, and extended completion. Throughout the result of this study, diverse related driving information provision service, efficiently navigation driving module is expected to be implemented in the national highway design system.

  • Wearable electronic devices with batteries must be lightweight, flexible and highly durable. Most importantly, the battery should be able to self-generate to operate the devices without having to be too frequently charged externally. An eco-friendly energy harvesting technology from various sources, such as solar energy, electromagnetic energy and wind energy, has been developed for a self-charging flexible battery. Although the energy harvesting from such sources are often unstable according to the surrounding environment, the energy harvesting from body movements and vibrations has been less affected by the surrounding environment. In this regard, flexible piezoelectric modules are the most attractive solution for this issue, because they convert mechanical energy to electrical energy and harvest energy from the human body motions. Among the various flexible piezoelectric modules, piezoelectric nanofibers have advantages when used as an energy harvester in wearable devices, due to their simple manufacturing process with good applicability to polymers and ceramics. This review focused on diverse flexible piezoelectric nanofibers and discusses their applications as various energy harvesting systems.

  • In line with the expansion of electric railway, reducing carbon emission and optimal train operation are required by economical, eco-friendly and efficient management. Most of the energy consumption in electric railway is consumed by train operation. So it is important that minimize the energy consumption in train operation. An analysis of the operation performance of the new model vehicle which in South Korea, Korail introduced shows that the energy consumption is different in line with the skill level of the engine driver. In this study, the know-how of train operation of a skilled engine driver is systematized by using artificial intelligence, and the technique which supports engine drivers with train operation was offered. As a result of applying in South Korea, the Gyeongbu line by using simulation, it confirmed that the maximum 20% can reduce the energy consumption in comparison with unskilled engine drivers in case of applying the Expert System.

  • Photovoltaic solar energy policy in the keynote of the world in the development of new technologies in terms of renewable energy sources has been a great interest. Solar energy is the energy density, low light intensity, temperature, and a lot of areas affected by the difference, the effective use difficult. For the installation of photovoltaic solar power systems to develop farmland or forest land resulting from deforestation has become such a problem.   • Almost 70% of the earth is covered by the ocean. Extracting the power available in the ocean using a wave energy converter has been seen to be eco-friendly and renewable. This study focuses on developing a method for analyzing a wave energy device that uses a cross-flow turbine. The motion of the ocean wave causes an internal bi-directional flow of water and the cross-flow turbine is able to rotate in one direction. This device is considered of double-hull structure, and because of this structure, sea water does not come into contact with theturbine. Due to this, the problem of befouling on the turbine is avoided. This study shows specific relationship for wave length and several motions.

  • As interest in the efficiency use of energy has been recently rising, studies have been performed in utilizing various types of eco-friendly green energy and natural energy. Especially there has been rapidly increase in the fields using ESS (Energy Storage System), which is the technology for storing the energy from nature. The application fields of ESS is continuously growing and expanding to various types of technologies. However, in recent years there have been continuing problems with the safety of ESS. And related researches are going on. In this paper, we has proposed a system structure to utilize more secure ESS and has monitored the system status of ESS in real time by using smart phone app. This paper has also proposed a new method to configure secure ESS by implementing GUI (Graphical User Interface) to control the system. And then explain experimental results to investigate the efficiency of the proposed ESS.

  • Global environmental problems are growing, and the importance of buildings with high energy consumption has been emphasized. In Korea, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs has been promoting the mandatory zero energy building since 2020, and guidelines related to the zero energy building have been developed. In addition, based on the "Energy-saving Design Criteria for Buildings" of the "Green Building Promotion Act" in Korea, the standards for energy-saving design are specified and the energy saving plan is written. Besides, the 'Energy-saving construction standards for eco-friendly houses' also specify insulation, machinery, equipment, and sunshade. Also, there is little consideration about the cost such as construction cost and material cost which should be considered important in the construction stage. Therefore, this study aims at analysis of building type and energy performance versus materials for energy saving building design considering energy performance in planning aspect of initial design stage. In this study, because the variables can not be neglected in this study, it is selected as the lecture facility of the 'K' university campus building which can consider the remaining factors except the passive design element as the control variable, Energy performance analysis.

  • The purpose of this study, the trend of renewable energy, domestic and foreign renewable energy policies, and the flow of the legal system related to renewable energy location were identified, and a location analysis using public data was studied when solar energy was located. First, renewable energy is leading to energy conversion by reducing the proportion of existing fossil fuel-centered energy sources in the global trend and increasing the proportion of renewable energy, an eco-friendly energy source, and changing the institutional and market structure. Second, large-scale solar energy power plants are installed and operated in rural areas where there is no change in insolation and land prices are cheaper than in urban areas where there are many changes in insolation due to surrounding high-rise buildings and street trees. Third, if a preliminary location review is conducted using public data at this time, it will be easy to identify the optimal location for area and size calculation. Fourth, the solar energy location functional area was studied in area A, and the total area of the target area was 624.5km2, with 392.7km2 and 62.9% of the avoidance area where solar power cannot be located.
