Online communities are an important source of electronic-word-of-mouth (eWOM), however few studies have examined these types of messages within the Middle Eastern context. This study focuses on Kuwaiti women as members of an online beauty forum; previous work has suggested a mediating effect of gender with women being more likely to trust and follow-up word-of-mouth with a purchase. A conceptual model, based on existing theoretical contributions, provides the basis of a coding framework for the message characteristics that influence members' eWOM adoption. A sub-set of the analysis is presented: 218 threads (1820 messages, coded into 6702 units) illustrating cases where eWOM was adopted and thereby demonstrating continuance intention with members returning to the forum. Content analysis revealed the prevalence of emotional aspects in messages, coded into a new category of 'community bonding'. Findings show that emotion expressed in messages is as influential and important as cognitive aspects of argument quality.
Well-known e-CRM strategy is to focus on profitable customers and pay less attention to unprofitable ones. Moreover, some researchers recommend not serving unprofitable ones any more. However, it often neglects customers indirect value. Deselecting unprofitable customers can raise the issue of bad word-of-mouth publicity especially in the age of the Internet. Some studies pointed out that a customers decision to buy a product or service is often strongly influenced by others. In this paper, we consider customers' word-of-mouth effect on quality learning of inexperienced customers. We show that firms implementing e-CRM must take the effect into the consideration when deselecting unprofitable customers.
This study identified online information characteristics and investigated the effects of information characteristics on word of mouth performance in online environment. And the comsumer knowledge was found to be a moderator of the relationship between information characteristics and WOM performance in online environment. The implication of this work to both researchers and practitioners were discussed.
Purpose - This study aimed to understand the influence of visible factors directly shown to and experienced by consumers such as physical evidence, and invisible factors obtained through acquaintances or other experienced consumers such as word-of-mouth, in the discount stores' marketing communication on impulse buying intention and store loyalty. Research Design, Data, and Methodology - This study examined the effect of factors in discount stores' marketing communication, for instance, physical evidence, word-of-mouth, and buying impulse intention. The questionnaire survey resulted in 68 completed questionnaires. Results - Physical evidence and word-of-mouth have a statistically significant positive effect on store loyalty. The results of regression analysis regarding whether visible or invisible factors have more impact showed that word-of-mouth has a statistically significant positive effect on store loyalty. With regard to impulse buying intention, only word-of-mouth was statistically significant. Conclusion These results suggested that visible and invisible factors that appeal to customers are very important. In particular, the results suggested that stores should create invisible factors (e.g., positive word-of-mouth) for their customers.
The emergence of the Internet has provided a new outlet for consumers who experience service failure from products and services, augmenting the traditional options of entry, voice and action. Consumers' negative word of mouth through online (word-of-mouse or eWOM) far exceeds traditional word of mouth (WOM) in respect of its potential effectiveness, speed and spread. This paper tries to figure out the service failure themes in the health care industry by analyzing online word-of-mouse using the critical incidents technique (CIT). Complaint themes in the area of healthcare are identified and analyzed. The results identify that major complaint theme differed according to the site type. Also, the findings indicate that delivery and customer services are critical issues when consumer makes negative WOM.
The purposes of this study were to segment consumers by on-line word of month and to find the differences among the segmented groups in regard to fashion involvement, internet perceived risk, and internet purchase behavior. The subjects of this study were female consumers who were members of online cafe in Korea. The data were collected during October, 2004. The respondents returned the questionnaires through internet and 480 questionnaires were finally used in the data analysis. The statistical analyses used for the study were factor analysis, cluster analysis, t-test, and $X^2-test$. The results showed that word-of·mouth communication on internet(e-WOM) is composed of two factors, word-of-mouth transmission and word-of-mouth acceptance. These two factors were put under cluster analysis and were classified into two groups of the word-of·mouth communication: WOM group and non-WOM group. T-test showed that word-of-mouth communication groups were significantly different in regard to fashion involvement, internet perceived risk, and internet purchase behavior. For example, WOM group was more uncertain of their clothing choices, put more weight on the internal factors of clothing selection, and was a frequent purchaser of internet fashion products. Internet fashion business needs to implement the proper marketing strategies based on the results of the study.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program has become one of the primary concerns of companies worldwide. For many companies, treating the environment and the community well is important to business practice and reputation, and this is reflected in their CSR programs. CSR plays an important role in relationship building with customers. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between customer perception of CSR and customer trust. The model of this study considers two mediating variables, i.e., company reputation and word of mouth to link CSR to customer trust. This study employs a causal survey design. The respondents were 160 consumers who have purchased products and knew about CSR programs of a global food company. Data analysis was using structural equation modeling (SEM) to test the hypotheses. The results of this study revealed that CSR negatively impacts customer trust. Furthermore, CSR positively impacts corporate reputation and word of mouth. Besides, this study found corporate reputation positively impacts word of mouth and customer trust. While the mediating effect of reputation and word of mouth also positively impacts the relationship between CSR and consumer trust. A good reputation and word of mouth could be connecting buyers and enhances the power of suppliers.
Although motivation and information search have both been studied continuously and separately as important marketing strategies, the relation between cause and effect has received little research attention. Therefore the objective of this study was to research the causal relationships between motivation and information search method. Frequency analysis and reliability analysis, factor analysis, and SEM(Structure Equation Model) were adopted to analyze the data. Motivation was divided into 5 factors which significantly influenced information search method. Factor 1, 'Reception and congratulation', influenced information search positively through 'newspaper, magazine', and 'word of mouth' but negatively through 'TV-advertising' and 'Flyer, Press copy'. Factor 2, 'Change of dietary life', influenced positively 'TV-advertising'. Factor 3, 'Economic saving', influenced positively 'newspaper, magazine', and 'the e-mail's advertising' Factor 4, 'Preference motivation', influenced negatively 'word of mouth' Factor 5, 'Advertisement and companion's need', influenced positively 'newspaper, magazine', and 'the e-mail's advertising' but negatively 'TV-advertising' As a result, customers appeared to choose various information search methods according to their eating-out motivation. 'The e-mail's advertising', and 'word of mouth' are popular among customers' information search methods. Therefore, food-service corporations need to try eliminating negative images of various advertisements and activate positive word of mouth marketing, promotion through internet.
