In this study, it was performed that the seismic response analysis using long period earthquake wave and short period earthquake wave on dynamic behavior of concrete gravity dam. The results showed that if the same magnitude earthquake waves acted on concrete dam, the maximum displacement and stress at dam crest of long period wave(0funato wave) were about 30 % larger than those of short period wave(Hachinohe wave). And the response acceleration of dam crest was amplified about 5 times in long period earthquake wave and about 3 times in short period earthquake wave.

MAC protocols in wireless ATM has to increase and maintain the system throughput performance. To achieve these purposes, this paper proposes a dynamic control algorithm called DSPA (Dynamic Signalling Period Allocation) for wireless ATM MAC protocol. The proposed DSPA algorithm consists of the following three algorithms. First, a control slot generation algorithm which generates the control slots by utilizing static and dynamic parameters from the terminals, is proposed. Second, a dynamic signalling period allocation algorithm is proposed for a base station to dynamically determine each signalling period according to current terminal states, and thus allocates the optimal signalling periods. Finally, a dynamic slot allocation algorithm is proposed to dynamically determine priorities of the terminals whenever a slot is allocated. Simulation results indicates that DSPA algorithm decreases average packet delay of the terminals by dynamic allocation of signal periods based on the system utilization, and thus increases the limitation of allowable loads that quarantee quality of services. Also the proposed algorithm is shown to maintain stable throughput even in the case of traffic variations.

The generalized goal decomposition model proposed by Ruefli as a single period decision model is presented for the purpose of a review and extended to make a multiple period planning model. The multiple period planning model in the three level organization is formulated with, linear goal deviations by introducing the goal programming method. Dynamic formulation using the generalized goal decomposition model for each single period problem is also presented. An iterative search algorithm is presented as an appropriate solution method of the dynamic formulation of the multiple period planning model.

This paper addresses determining the location of the distribution centers in a discrete dynamic distribution system. In discrete and finite time horizon, the demands of retailers are dynamic for the periods. Some locations among the retailers can be chosen for the role of the distribution centers at the beginning of each period. The distribution centers have to be located at the location of minimizing logistics cost. Logistics cost factors are the operation cost and the fixed cost of distribution center, and the transportation cost. The distribution centers of minimizing sum of operation cost, fixed cost and transportation cost are determined among retailers in each period for the planning period. A mathematical model was formulated and a dynamic programming based algorithm was developed. A numerical example was shown to explain our problem.

Large spatial structures can not easily predict the dynamic behavior due to the lack of construction and design practices. The spatial structures are generally analyzed through the numerical simulation and experimental test in order to investigate the seismic response of large spatial structures. In the case of analysis for seismic response of large spatial structure, the many studies by the numerical analysis was carried out, researches by the shaking table test are very rare. In this study, a shaking table test of a small-scale arch structure was conducted and the dynamic characteristics of arch structure are analyzed. And the dynamic characteristics of arch structures are investigated according to the various column cross-section and length. It is found that the natural vibration periods of the small-scaled arch structure that have large column stiffness are very similar to the natural vibration period of the non-column arch structure. And in case of arch structure with large column stiffness, primary natural frequency period by numerical analysis is very similar to the primary natural frequency period of by shaking table test. These are because the dynamic characteristics of the roof structure are affected by the column stiffness of the spatial structure.
For automatic power control of KMRR, a new method, Reactivity Constraint Method, is applied for time optimal control. This method limits the net reactivity to the amount that can be offset by instantaneous control rod action. The reactivity to be constrained for the constant reactor period should be obtained by the dynamic period equation. A new formulation of the dynamic period equation for 2-point kinetics model is presented. A methematical controller model was applied to the plant simulator, KMRSIM to test this control law. The performance test showed that reactivity constraint approach is also a reliable means for reactor power change control.
Background: Deficiencies in the ability to maintain balance are common in elderly. Augmented feedback such as knowledge of results (KR) can accelerate learning and mastering a motor skill in older people. Objects: We designed this study to examine whether one session of Wii-Fit game with self-regulated KR is effective for elderly people, and to compare the effect of two different timings of self-regulated KR conditions. Methods: Thirty-nine community-dwelling elders, not living in hospice care or a nursing home, participated in this study. During acquisition, two groups of volunteers were trained in 10 blocks of a dynamic balancing task under the following 2 conditions, respectively: (a) a pre-trial self-regulated KR ($n_1=18$), or (b) a post-trial self-regulated KR ($n_2=21$). Immediate retention tests and delayed retention tests of balancing performance were administered in 15 minutes and 24 hours following acquisition period, respectively. Results: In both groups, significant improvements of balancing performances scores were observed during the acquisition period. Regardless of the group, mean of balancing performance scores on retention tests were well-maintained from the final session. There were no significant differences between groups in balancing performance scores during the acquisition period (p>.05); however, the post-trial self-regulated KR group exhibited significantly higher balancing performance scores in both the immediate retention test and delayed retention test than that of the pre-trial self-regulated KR group (p<.05). Conclusion: Therefore, subjects who regulated their feedback after a dynamic balancing task, during the acquisition period, experienced more efficient motor learning during the retention period than did subjects who regulated their feedback before a dynamic balancing task. Accordingly, in case of presenting the KR of motor learning in clinical settings to elders who reduced dynamic balance abilities, the requesting time of KR is imperative according to self-estimation processes as well as types of KR and practice.
Recently in Korea, researches on seismic analyses for high-rise buildings in a large city have been increasing because earthquakes have occurred. However, the ground conditions are not included in most of seismic researches and analyses on a high-rise building. Also the influence of the predominant period of a seismic wave is not considered in reality. Therefore, in this study, the influence of the predominant period of a seismic wave on the dynamic behavior of high-rise buildings was analyzed based on the complete system model which can consider the grounds. For this purpose, 2D dynamic analyses based on a linear time history analysis were performed using MIDAS GTS NX, a finite-element based program. Dynamic behavior was analyzed in terms of horizontal displacements, drift ratios, bending stresses, and building weak zones. As a result, in overall, the dynamic response of a high-rise building become bigger as the predominant period of a seismic wave become longer. It was also found that the predominant period had a greater influence than other parameters, ground conditions and peak ground acceleration.

The free vibration and dynamic response of cross-ply for CFRP and GFRP laminated circular cylindrical shells under dynamic loadings are investigated by using the first-order shear deformation shell theory. The modal analysis technique is used to develop the analytical solutions of simply supported cylindrical shells under dynamic load. The analysis is based on an expansion of the loads, displacements and rotations in a double Fourier series which satisfies the and boundary conditions of simply support. Analytical solution is assumed to be separable into a function of time and a function of position. In this paper, the considered load forces are step pulse, sine pulse, triangular(1, 2, 3) pulse and exponential pulse. The solution for a given loading pulse can be found by involving the convolution integral. The results show that the dynamic response are governed primarily by the natural period of the structure.

This paper describes design of an algorithm for analyzing human activity using body-fixed 3-axis accelerometer in the small of the back. In the first step, we distinguish static and dynamic activity period using AC signal analysis. Then five postures were classified by applying the threshold in DC signal corresponding to the static activity period. Also, after comparison of average power and taking negative peak signal in the dynamic activity period, the four dynamic activities were classified by adaptive threshold method. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, the measured signals obtained from six subjects were applied to the proposed algorithm and the results were compared with the simultaneously measured video data. As a result, the activity classification rate of 95.7% on average was obtained. Overall results show that the proposed classification algorithm has a possibility to be used to analyze the static and dynamic physical activity.
