With the development of construction technology, constructions of dam and levee (dike) as well as the environmental problems are becoming issues. Recently, many countries have tried to develop and used CSG (Cemented Sand and Gravel), which needs fewer requirements than others in aggregates, constructability and ground condition during the dam construction. Mixing up with small amount of cement, CSG is able to increase the strength and proceed accelerated construction without artificial gradation adjustment of riverbed aggregate and crushed rock on construction site. Thus, CSG can minimize environmental damage resulted from quarries mining and reduce cost of construction. Unlike heat of hydration condition that regular concrete usually met, CSG exposes to repeated dry-wet and freezing and thawing environment. Thus, consider the importance of structure of dam or levee, intensive study on the durability of CSG is needed. In this study, freezing and thawing experiment was carried out to evaluate the durability of CSG. In results, the durability factor of CSG is 30~40 or >40 when the amount of cement is $0.4{\sim}0.6kN/m^3$ or $0.8{\sim}1.0kN/m^3$, respectively. The unconfined compressive strength is reduced to 30~50% or 40~70% when the amount of cement is $0.4{\sim}0.6kN/m^3$ or $0.8{\sim}1.0kN/m^3$, respectively. Taken together, the strength and durability of CSG is reliable when the amount of cement is over $0.8kN/m^3$.

Recently, structures such as large retailers, outlets and warehouses have been increasing in accordance with changes in consumption patterns. Since these structures include ultra-flat slab members, they are thoroughly managed to control slab cracking by the plastic and drying shrinkage. In order to control the cracking of the slab member, a chemical crack reduction method is used. In particular, the use of the shrinkage reducing agent has been examined. However, domestic research results are limited. In this study, the shrinkage properties of concrete using shrinkage reducing agent and the drying shrinkage properties according to the mixing factors were investigated. The performance of domestic shrinkage reducing agent was appeared similar to that of overseas high-grade shrinkage reducing agent. As the shrinkage reducing agent usage increased, the drying shrinkage reduction effect increased. At the age of 100 days, the dry shrinkage rate of specimen with the shrinkage reducing agent of 1.5%was shown about half that of the specimen without the shrinkage reducing agent. The shrinkage reducing agent was gound to have no specific performance change for the use of the admixture.

The objective of this study is to investigate the environmental impact of fine dust generated at the construction waste intermediate treatment plants, and to propose engineering data and measures to suppress the generation of fine dust to cope with the expected strengthened environmental regulations of the government. The following study conclusions are drawn. 1) T he maximum concentration of fine dust in the workplace was measured as 160㎍/m3 from the crushing operation followed by the point of waste unloading, where focused suppression plan of the fine dust generation is needed in the future. 2) Fine dust concentrations of 113㎍/m3 in wet road conditions and 50㎍/m3 in dry conditions were measured, indicating that fine dust could be reduced by 50% with watering alone. 3) The effect of distancing from the dust source was studied. PM10 during operation of the workplace was measured as about 25㎍/m3 higher than those of the neighboring areas. Whereas there was no significant difference in case of PM2.5 between workplace and neighboring areas. 4) The measurement results of the heavy metal contents showed that these metals did not affect neighboring areas.

This study is part of an ongoing research project on the development of a sound-absorbing lightweight foamed concrete manufactured by a hydro-thermal reaction between silica and calcium. As the silica source, pulverized bottom ash was used, and as several cementitious powders of ordinary portland cement, alumina cement and calcium hydroxide were used. Manufacture of foamed concrete was accomplished using the pre-foaming method to make a continuous pore system, which is the method of making the foam by using a foaming agent, then making the slurry by mixing the foam, water, and powders. The experiment factors are W/B, foam agent dilution ratio, and foam ratio, and test items are compressive strength, dry density, void ratio, and absorption rate, as evaluated by NRC. The experiment results showed that the sound absorption of lightweight foamed concrete satisfied NRC requirements for the absorbing materials in most of the experiments. It is thus concluded that foam ratio was the most dominant factor, and significantly affected all properties of lightweight foamed concrete in this study. W/B rarely affected total void ratio and continuous void ratio as well as compressive strength, and dry density and foam agent dilution ratio also had little effect onalmost all properties. The analysis of the correlation between NRC, absorption time, continuous void ratio, and absorption time showed that the interrelationship of the continuous void ratio was high.

The pH of recycled aggregate is over 12 because of high alkalinity of cement. This high alkalinity give circumstance harmful effect. The high alkalinity of recycled aggregate can appear variously according to aggregate properties, elution time of alkalinity, aggregate size, and so on. This study analyzed recycled aggregate properties according to wet and dry type manufacture process; different test methods: waste official test, soil contamination official test, BS EN 1744-3 standard; elution time and different size to test effects of various condition. These test results can contribute to solving environmental problems by recycled aggregate. In the test results, pH of recycled aggregate was as higher as smaller particle size and as time elapsed. There was no difference between dry and wet type recycled aggregate except for difference according to elapsed time. Waste official test method got the highest pH value between pH test methods. So unified pH test method need to test recycled aggregate pH.

The present study prepared lightweight foam-soil concrete mixtures classified into three groups. Considering the sustainablility, workability, and compressive strength development of such concrete, high-volume supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) were used as follows: 20% cement, 15% fly ash, and 65% ground granulated blast-furnace slag. As main test parameters selected for achieving the compressive strength of 1MPa and dry density of $1,000kg/m^3$, the unit solid content (dredged soil and binder) ranged between 900 and $1,807kg/m^3$, and soil-to-binder ratio varied between 3.0 and 7.0. Test results revealed that the flow of the lightweight foam-soil concrete tended to decrease with the increase of unit soil content. The compressive strength of such concrete increased with the increase with the unit binder content, whereas it decreased as soil-to-binder ratio increased, indicating that the compressive strength can be formulated as a function of its dry density and soil-to-binder ratio.

The purpose of this study is to find problems about pedestrian road of tourist resort and to make new type of sidewalk pavement with wood chip and binder using urethane resin on the parks and tourist resort. The wood chip pavement has new economics and durability with comfortable texture. Samples of these pavement materials were tested for tensile strength, permeability and ball rebound value. Also, after immersion for 24 hours, tensile strength, samples' thickness and weight were measured and discussed the strength reduction according to the water immersion. Tensile strength experimentation was examined on dry condition and water immersion. The result of examination on dry condition was 1.06MPa and on water immersion was 0.67MPa. The results showed 36.8% decreasing rate of tensile strength. Permeability experiment test based on field permeability method of pavement were conducted as a result, permeability coefficients were in the range of 0.67~0.78mm/s that all exceeds object permeability coefficient. Elasticity experiment was based on elasticity test method of Japan road association. GB coefficient was 21% and SB coefficient was 10%. GB coefficient and SB coefficient increased if fine aggregate were increased.
This study was designed to estimate on the interaction of the first productivity, light condition and to examine the ecophysiological 'characteristics of Zoysia japonica. Artificial community of Zoysia japonica was analyzed effect of matter production and growth construction under various shading condition. The results summarized this experiment were as follows ; 1. The relative growth rate(RGR) in all experimental plots was high during the growth stage of 20 days after transplanting and then tend to decrease. RGR value in severe shading or short day condition was remarkably decreased from the early growth stage. 2. The net assimilation rate(NAR) was high during the early growth stage after transplanting. and then decreased the growth proceeded. NAR value in the severe shading or short day condition plots was low. 3. The increasing rate of leaf ared ratio(LAR) was high during the early growth stage after transplanting in the control plot and 30% shading plot, but it appeared to be high 40 days after transplanting in the 50% and 70% shading plot. LAR was appeared to be negative correlation against RGR and NAR. 4. The crop growth rate(CGR) in each experimental plot was increased until 50 days after transplanting, and then decreased. After that time, the maximum CGR value appeared in the control plot(1.56g /g, 10days), 60days after transplanting. CGR had positive correlation with LAI. The optimum LAI in the control, 30%, 50%, and 70% shading plots was appeared as 2.10, 1.75, 1.25, and 0.90.

This study is to investigate experimentally the influence of mixing factors, such as a mortar mix proportion of non-cement mortar, flow, and W/B, on quality characteristics of blast furnace slag powder mortar incorporating dry type recycled fine aggregates. In the characteristics of fresh mortar, the W/B increased according to the increase in the flow due to the increase in water contents, but air contents decreased due to loss of air contrary to the increase in the W/B. In the case of hardened mortar, the compressive strength showed a decrease due to the highly determined W/B inversely according to the increase in the flow through the entire age in which the compressive strength increased proportionally according to the increase in the B/W. Also, the increasing rate of such compressive strength increased more largely due to the latent hydraulic property of the BS according to the passage of the age. The flexural strength at the age of 28 days according to the increase in the B/W represented a similar level in strength values without any increases. The flexural strength for the compressive strength was distributed as a range of 1/2 ~ 1/3 and that showed a higher range than that of conventional concretes.

Natural ground is a composite consisted of the three phases of water, air and soil paircies. Among the three components, water as a material is weU understood but soil particles are not in foundation engineering. Especially, weathered granite soil generally shows a large volumetric expansion when they freeze. And, the stability and durability of the soil have shown decreased with repetitive freezing and thawing processes. These unique charcteristics may cause various construction and management problems if the soil is used as a construction material and foundation layers. This project was initiated to investigate the soil's physical and engineering characteristics resulting from freezing and freezing-thawing processes. Research results may be used as a basic data in solving various problems related to the soil's unique characteristics. The following conclusions were obtained: The degree of decomposition of weathered granite soil in Kangwon-do was very different between the West and East sides of the divide of the Dae-Kwan Ryung. Soil particles distributed wide from very coarse to fine particles. Consistency could be predicted with a function of P200 as LL=0.8 P200+20. Permeability ranged from 10-2 to 10-4cm/sec, moisture content from 15 to 20% and maximum dry density from 1.55 to 1.73 g /cmΥ$^3$ By compaction, soil particles easily crushed, D50 of soil particles decreased and specific surface significantly increased. Shear characteristics varied wide depending on the disturbance of soil. Strain characteristics influenced the soil's dynamic behviour. Elastic failure mode was observed if strain was less than 1O-4/s and plastic failure mode was observed if strain was more than 10-2/s. The elastic wave velocity in the soil rapidly increased if dry density became larger than 1.5 g /cm$^3$ and these values were Vp=250, Vg= 150, respectively. Frost heave ratio was the highest around 0 $^{\circ}C$ and the maximum frost heave pressure was observed when deformation ratio was less than 10% which was the stability state of soil freezing. The state had no relation with frost depth. Over freezing process was observed when drainage or suction freezing process was undergone. Drainage freezing process was observed if freezing velocity was high under confined pressure and suction frost process was occurred if the velocity was low under the same confined process.
