  • POSCO has been developed a general purpose dynamic simulator of the hot strip steel mill. The simulator is a tool for developing the process control system in an industrial system solution business, by making the most use of control and simulation techniques fostered in steelmaking business. This simulator has, not only a powerful numerical analysis function, but an easy-to-use graphic user interface which readily enables to simulate dynamic system. This paper presents the features of the simulator and steel rolling process simulator as its application.

  • A mathematical model is developed for thermal solution copolymerization of styrene and acrylonitrile in a continuous stirred tank reactor(CSTR). Computational studies are carried out with the continuous copolymerization system model developed in this work to give the monomer conversion, copolymer composition and the average molecular weights of the copolymer. By performing the dynamic analysis of the reaction system, the polymer properties against the changes in the operating conditions are determined quantitatively. The cascade PID and fuzzy controller show satisfactory performances for both set point tracking and disturbance rejection. Especially, the fuzzy controller is superior to the PID controller.

  • In this paper, we present a robust Two Degree of Freedom (TDF) $H_{\infty}$ controllers for a missile system. The feedback controller is designed to meet robust stability and disturbance rejection specifications while the prefilter is used to improve the robust model matching properties of the closed loop system. As the perturbed model, we use the normalized coprim factor perturbations. These controllers are designed using $H_{\infty}$ optimization procedures, and applied to a missile model via simulation.

  • Optimizing transient response for both tracking reference signals and disturbance rejection is determined by the poles and zeros of the transfer function. Thus, optimal pole assignment and how should weighting matrix for the performance index be chosen is very important to achieve optimum transient response. This paper focus its attention on the choosing and analysis of weighting matrix for optimum pole assignment. Optimum pole assignment is defined for linear time-invariant continuous systems.

  • In this paper, to bring under robust and accurate control of auto-equipment systems which disturbance, parameter alteration of system, uncertainty and so forth exist, neural network controller called dynamic neural processor(DNP) is designed. Also, the architecture and learning algorithm of the proposed dynamic neural network, the DNP, are described and computer simulations are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed learning method using the DNP.

  • In conventional perturbation estimators such as disturbance observers(DOB) [1, 2] or time-delayed controllers(TDC) [3{5}, the low pass filter(so-called Q-filter) plays an important role in the stability and performance. However, a general design guideline or analysis for the Q-filter has not been researched yet. In this paper, a guideline for the design of discrete Q-filter is suggested in terms of the analysis of the relationship between the filter parameters and stability performance robustness in discrete-time domain. The analysis clarifies the discrete-time effect of the perturbation estimator and provides a transparent relationship between performance and robustness depending ...

  • In this paper, we present a novel control method for the plant with an integral mode and long time delay. In a constant time delay problem, one can independently adjust the set response and the disturbance response by the proposed DTC without any additional control variables. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed DTC, it is compared with Matausek´s DTC and Normey-rico´s DTC which were recently proposed. Simulation results are given and the superior performance of the proposed scheme over the conventional schemes are successfully verified.

  • Combined with a counter, wheel or strip encoders which have equally divided markers are one of frequent measuring choices towards various applications in terms of cost, simplicity, and diversity of measurements, e.g., measuring displacement, velocity, acceleration, and so on. Often, velocity is measured by counting the series of reference clocks for a period of time which sensor-carrying device took for traveling two adjacent encoding markers. Quantizaion error of such that the disturbance caused by quantization error is under control. This paper identifies design issues, developes theory, and proposes a paradigm to design a velocity measurement system such ...

  • This paper presents a fuzzy dynamic output feedback controller design method for Parallel Distributed Compensation (PDC)-type Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) model based fuzzy dynamic system with H$\infty$ performance and additional constraints on the closed pole placement. Design condition for these controller is obtained in terms of the linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The proposed fuzzy controller satisfies the disturbance rejection performance and the desired transient response. The design method is verified by this method for an inverted pendulum with a cart using the proposed method.
