  • This paper presents a new design method of optimal continuous deadbeat controller by using second-order smoothing elements. The continuous deadbeat controller is made of a serial integral compensator and a local feedback compensator introduced into the state feedback loop. The decision method of the damping factor and the natural angular frequency of the smoothing element is described. A numerical example is given to show how well input-output characteristics are improved. Especially according to the variable input and disturbance, corresponding CDBC design method is suggested. By computer simulations, control inputs and system outputs are shown to have desirable property such as smoothness.

  • This paper describes an air conditioner control method using a fuzzy control theory. The fuzzy control method was implemented with Philips 80C552 one chip microcomputer and tested in an actual vehicle. Experiments showed that proposed control method is superior to the conventional PID control method especially in the environments with abrupt disturbance and parameter variation of the control system. Fuzzy-Based control method was proved to maintain a stable and improved temperature control in an abrupt environmental changes.

  • Input-output linearization technique in nonlinear control does not guarantee the robustness in the presence of parameter uncertainty or unmodeled dynamics, etc. However, it has been used as an important preliminary step in achieving additional control objectives, for instance, robustness to parameter uncertainty and disturbance attenuation. An indirect adaptive control scheme based on input-output linearization is proposed in this paper. The scheme consists of a Hopfield network for process parameter identification and an adaptive sliding mode controller based on input-output linearization, which steers the system response into a desired configuration. A numerical example is presented for the trajectory tracking of uncertain nonlinear dynamic systems with slowly time-varying parameters.

  • In the rower systems of Korea, there is little chance of the separation of power systems as well as a blackout due to the large disturbance. However, that possibility shouldn't be ignored, and always exists. In this paper, we present the results of the analysis of transient stabilities for the case of contingencies of power systems separation in the isolated power systems where the regional concentration of supply and demand exists.

  • The control method of programmable dynamometer for overall test of machine is to load the reference torque which is computed from torque transducer into motor under test. But the torque information detected from torque transducer have a lot of noise when the load torque of meter is a small quantity or changing. Thus, torque transducer must have a low pass filter to detect a definite torque information. But The torque delay generated by filter with torque transducer occur a torque trouble for meter torque of programmable dynamometer. The proposed system improved the problem of the torque measuring delay with torque transducer, and the load torque is estimated by the minimal order state observer based on the torque component of the vector control induction moter. Therefore, the torque controller is not affected by a load torque disturbance.

  • The time domain simulation method of transient stability presents accuracy and reliability, but it demands much computational time. Therefore it is necessary to filter out very stable and very unstable cases from a large set of contingencies. Following a disturbance, the shape and magnitude of representative generator angle which is most increased after fault clearing are the measure of transient stability. This paper propose a method that is not a calculation of the exact CCT of contingency, but a fast assessment of transient stability. Also it can help operators identify transient stability immediately without analyzing the graphical results. The proposed method is applied to the KEPCO system. The PSS/E is used as a time domain simulation engine by IPLAN.

  • The ultimate object of FES is on the recovering function of body and shape demaged from desease or injury to original state. On this study, object is recovering of gait function of the disabled who, especially, have gait disturbance. Paralyzed muscle from the central nerve disable, if peripheral nerves which be in the lower part of the harmed are activated, muscle contraction is possible. The traumatic trouble, peripheral nerves aren't connected to a central nerve but origin of peripheral nerve cells which are in the lower part of the harmed are alive, react on stimulation. We design 4-channel stimulator, being based on standard stimuli pattern. stimulator is manufactured with compact size and light weight to portable.

  • In this paper, an adaptive neural network controller and its application to automatic berthing control of ship is presented. The neural network controller is trained online using adaptive interaction technique without any teaching data and off-line training phase. Firstly, the neural networks used to control rudder and propeller during automatic berthing process are presented. Secondly, computer simulations of automatic ship berthing are carried out in Pusan bay to verify the proposed controller under the influence of wind disturbance and measurement noise. The results of simulation show good performance of the developed berthing control system.

  • A predictive controller can solve a control problem related to a disturbance-dominant system such as roll stabilization of a ship in waves. In this paper, a predictive controller is developed for a fin stabilizer. Future wave-induced moment is modeled simply using two typical regular wave components for which six parameters are identified by the recursive Fourier transform and the least squares method using the past time series of the roll motion. After predicting the future wave-induced moment, optimal control theory is applied to discover the most effective command fin angle that will stabilize the roll motion. In the results, wave prediction performance is investigated, and the effectiveness of the predictive controller is compared to a conventional PD controller.

  • In this paper, the speed of single phase induction motor driven by full bridge inverter is controlled by a PID controller under condition of disturbance load and setpoint changes, and the current characteristics of the system is investigated to look for the good properties of A.C. motor torque through the results of experiment. From the experimental result, it is confirmed that the speed of single phase induction motor driven by full bridge series inverter can be smoothly controlled by an analog PID controller.
