  • In this paper, novel concept of a photovoltaic(PV) power generation system adding the function of active filter(AF) is proposed. Even PV power generation system can be treated to a harmonics source for the power distribution system, it is necessary that the function of AF system in grid connected PV power generation system. Active Filters intended for harmonic solutions are expending their functions from harmonic compensation of nonlinear loads into harmonic isolation between utilities and consumer, and harmonic damping throughout power distribution system. So, the PV system combined the function of AF system can be usefully applied in power distribution system. Here, the control strategy of PV-AF system is introduced.

  • Electric power has traditionally been supplied to the demander through power generation, its transmission, and final distribution system. It is, however, expected that the various dispersed power system will be located near demanders and act as a power source based on the efficient management of electric power demanders and the optimal utilization of substitute energy. More stable electric power and efficient utilization of various power sources can be guranteed through the connection of the dispersed power system into the existing power system. It is the purpose of this study that, in the case of the connection of dispersed power system into the existing distribution line, effects of the connection on the power quality and plans for protection of power equipments are discussed and solutions of them are proposed.

  • As the power system network is enlarged and complicated gradually, the automation of power system network is essential to enhance the reliability and performance of the operation of power system. Distribution restoration is a major part of the automation. This paper proposes a new distribution restoration system to restore healthy blackout regions by the hierarchical cooperation with the substation automation systems. In proposed system, the range of restoration is extended to substations and the performance as well as the switching efficiency of restoration system is enhanced.

  • Wind turbines as a power distribution system linked to the driving operation according to the characteristics of the distribution system can be adversely affected by a change of circumstances, depending on Distribution Systems with driving characteristics of a wind turbine can be affected. Thus according to the grid-tied wind turbines and transient suppression of the distribution lines and distribution lines outside of the accident in order to maintain stable power supply to supply reactive power efficient system is necessary to keep the voltage constant. In this paper, we substantiated in Jeju Hangwon 12 Unit Level 1MVA STATCOM system configuration, control, configure, and test results will be introduced.

  • This paper proposes residential hybrid distribution system that can supply AC power and DC power to AC load and DC load at the same time. This hybrid distribution system consists of three parts: bidirectional inverter, step-up converter and step-down converter. Also that is used to supply voltage to home application is classified of AC load and DC load as load characteristics. The performance of proposed hybrid distribution system is validated through the hardware implementation and the experimental results.

  • A method to control the power distribution among receivers by the load values in a single-input, multiple-output (SIMO) wireless power transfer (WPT) system is investigated. We first derive the value of loads to maximize total efficiency. Next, a simple, but effective analytical formula of the load condition for the desired power distribution ratio is presented. The derived load solutions are simply given by system figure of merits and desired power ratios. The formula is validated with many numerical examples via electromagnetic simulations. We demonstrate that with the choice of loads from this simple formula, the power can be conveniently and accurately distributed among receivers for most practical requirements in SIMO WPT systems.

  • Wind energy can be conversed into electrical power using wind generator. Wind farm is made up of many wind generators, and it is often interconnected into distribution system to supply power for utilities. There are many protection problems on distribution system connected with Wind farm. It can effect on power quality severely when faults are occurred on distribution line or Wind farms. Therefore the correct protective scheme must be set for distribution system which has a Wind farm. In this paper, A wind farm connected into distribution line is simulated with several fault types which can be occurred on distribution line and Wind farm using PSCAD/EMTDC. And this paper proposes necessary relays to protect both sides of distribution system and wind farm.

  • In multi-ground distribution system, overhead ground wire and neutral wire are parallel connected to offer the electrical power energy and protect damage of lightning strokes. Therefore a case where the two wires become single wire, the power company can get the benefit such as installation cost saving and line fault protection by simplify of distribution line. In this paper we describe the result of impulse test in both system ; one is the present power system the other is unified power system parallel connected overhead ground wire and neutral wire. As a result of this impulse test, the present power system get lower impulse voltage than the unified power system.

  • Unbundled power quality service is paid much attention under the circumstances of deregulation and diversification of needs of customers for quality and price of electric power. Moreover, distributed generators (DGs) such as photovoltaic generations and wind turbines will be introduced to distribution system more and more, and reverse flow of active power has possibility to cause new problems in the distribution system such as voltage rise of distribution line and protection problem. Flexible, Reliable and Intelligent Electrical eNergy Delivery System, which is called FRIENDS, has been proposed as one of promising distribution system for such requirements, and intensive studies are under way. One of features of the system is introducing Quality Control Center (QCC) into the system for unbundled power quality service and easy installation of DGs. Two types of QCCs for such purposes are proposed, and simulation results are shown in this paper.

  • Wireless sensors have been developed in numerous ways for enhancing the convenience of installation, management and maintenance of sensors. Energy harvesting wireless sensors, which can collect energy from the external environment for permanent usage without the need of recharging and exchanging batteries, have been developed and employed used in Internet of Things and at various industrial sites. Energy harvesting wireless sensors are significantly affected by the sensor lifespan to sudden variation in the external environment. Furthermore, reduction in the sensor operating timespan can greatly affect the characteristics of the devices connected through a network. In this paper, a system performance index is proposed that can comprehensively evaluate the lifespan of a solar cell wireless sensor, determine the characteristics of devices connected to the associated network, and recommend dynamic power distribution control for improving the system performance index. Improvement in the system performance index was verified by applying the proposed dynamic power distribution control to an air conditioner network system using a solar cell wireless sensor. Obtained results corroborate that the dynamic power distribution control can extend the lifespan of the incorporated wireless sensor and reduce the air conditioner's power consumption.
