  • The typical corrosion prevention method inside the steel upper box girder in a suspension bridge involves the use of paints. However, in an effort to reduce environmental impact and cost, the suspension portion of the Yeongjong Bridge, Korea utilizes dehumidification systems to control humidity and prevent corrosion inside its box girder. Maintaining a uniform humidity distribution at the proper level inside the box girder is critical to the successful corrosion control. In this study, the humidity and the resultant atmospheric corrosivity inside the box girder of the Yeongjong Bridge was monitored. The corrosion rate of the steel inside the box girder was obtained using thin-film electrical resistance (TFER) corrosion sensors. Time-of-wetness (TOW) measurements and the deposition rates of atmospheric pollutants such as $Cl^{-}$ and $SO_{x}$ were also obtained. Classification of the atmospheric corrosivity inside the box girder was evaluated according to ISO 9223. As a result, no corrosion was found in the upper box girder, indicating that the dehumidification system used in the Yeongjong Bridge is an effective corrosion control method.

  • Temperature may have more significant influences on structural responses than operational loads or structural damage. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding of temperature distributions has great significance for proper design and maintenance of bridges. In this study, the temperature distribution of the steel box girder is systematically investigated based on the structural health monitoring system (SHMS) of the Sutong Cable-stayed Bridge. Specifically, the characteristics of the temperature and temperature difference between different measurement points are studied based on field temperature measurements. Accordingly, the probability density distributions of the temperature and temperature difference are calculated statistically, which are further described by the general formulas. The results indicate that: (1) the temperature and temperature difference exhibit distinct seasonal characteristics and strong periodicity, and the temperature and temperature difference among different measurement points are strongly correlated, respectively; (2) the probability density of the temperature difference distribution presents strong non-Gaussian characteristics; (3) the probability density function of temperature can be described by the weighted sum of four Normal distributions. Meanwhile, the temperature difference can be described by the weighted sum of Weibull distribution and Normal distribution.

  • To design steel box girder bridge, designers have taken the classical load distribution coefficient methods. Due to the rapidly developing computer technique, steel box girder bridge is simply modeled as grillage method for analyzing the girder, or as fully finite element method for more accurate and detailed analysis. Recently, cruciform space frame method is developed for modeling and analyzing it more simply and easily compared with finite element method. So, this study for the examination of upper methods' characteristics loaded unit moment load and analyzed the distortional deflection with shell element method and cruciform space frame method, and for three span three girder steel box bridge, loading DB-24 loads, analyzed it by upper methods and compared the results.

  • Storage services integration can be done for achieving high availability, improving data access performance and scalability while preventing vendor lock-in. However, multiple services environment management and interoperability have become a critical issue as a result of service architectures and communication interfaces heterogeneity. Storage federation model provides the integration of multiple heterogeneous and self-sufficient storage systems with a single control point and automated decision making about data distribution. In order to integrate diverse heterogeneous storage services into a single storage pool, we are proposing a storage service federation framework named BoxBroker. Moreover, an automated decision model based on a policy-driven data distribution algorithm and a service evaluation method is proposed enabling BoxBroker to make optimal decisions. Finally, a demonstration of our proposal capabilities is presented and discussed.

  • The new core making method economizing the amount of core sand has been requested. The new method is that a core box is heated until it reaches reasonable temperature and then core sand with core binder is sprayed into the core box. Since inner temperature distribution have to be uniform in order to form uniform thickness of core, we studied inner temperature distribution of core box. First, we determined proper number of torches and optimized torch positions to minimize the average of absolute deviation(AVEDEV) of inner temperature. The results are as fellowed: 1. The number of torches that enables uniform inner temperature distribution about $300^{\circ}C$ is 25. 2. When $S_H$ and $S_V$ is 0.7, the torch positions are optimized and AVEDEV is 5.85.

  • This study analyzed the factors affecting box office performance of 200 movies released at the Chinese theater in 2015. The results showed that main actor power, online rating, production power, and Chinese film were sighificant factors which influenced box office, while the distribution power, genre, IP utilization and integration of production and distribution were insignificant. These results mean that online marketing factors such as the popularity index of the main actors evaluated on the internet and the online rating are affecting box office performances in Chinese theaters.

  • Steel-concrete composite structure is widely applied to bridge engineering due to their outstanding mechanical properties and economic benefit. This paper studied a new type of steel-concrete composite anchorage system for a self-anchored suspension bridge and focused on the mechanical behavior and force transferring mechanism. A model with a scale of 1/2.5 was prepared and tested in ten loading cases in the laboratory, and their detailed stress distributions were measured. Meanwhile, a three-dimensional finite element model was established to understand the stress distributions and validated against the experimental measurement data. From the results of this study, a complicated stress distribution of the steel anchorage box with low stress level was observed. In addition, no damage and cracking was observed at the concrete surrounding this steel box. It can be concluded that the composite effect between the concrete surrounding the steel anchorage box and this steel box can be successfully developed. Consequently, the steel-concrete composite anchorage system illustrated an excellent mechanical response and high reliability.

  • Purpose - The volume and valence of online word-of-mouth(eWOM) have become an important part of the retailer's market success for a wide range of products. This study aims to investigate how the growth of eWOM has generated the product's final financial outcomes in the introductory period influences. Research design, data, and methodology - This study uses weekly box office performance for 117 movies released in the South Korea from July 2015 to June 2016 using Korean Film Council(KOFIC) database. 292,371 posted online review messages were collected from NAVER movie review bulletin board. Using regression analysis, we test whether eWOM incurred during the opening week is valuable to explain the last of box office performance. Three major eWOM metrics were considered after controlling for the major distributional factors. Results - Results support that major eWOM variables play a significant role in box-office outcome prediction. Especially, the growth rate of the positive eWOM volume has a significant effect on the growth potential in sales. Conclusions - The findings highlight that the speed of eWOM growth has an informational value to understand the market reaction to a new product beyond valence and volume. Movie distributors need to take positive online eWOM growth into account to make optimal screen allocation decisions after release.
