We present the high-resolution (2"-4") images of the molecular envelopes surrounding the evolved stars, V Hya, VY CMa, and ${\pi}^1$ Gru observed with the Submillimeter Array. The CO J=2-1 and 3-2 images of the carbon star V Hya show that the circumstellar structure of this star consists of three kinematic components; there is a flattened disk-like envelope that is expanding with a velocity of ${\~}16 km\;s^{-1}$, the second component is the medium-velocity wind having a deprojected velocity of 40-120 km $s^{-l}$ moving along the disk plane, and the third one is the bipolar molecular jet having an extreme velocity of 70-185 km $s^{-l}$. The axis of this high velocity jet is perpendicular to the plane of the disk-like envelope. We found that the circumstellar structure of the S-star ${\pi}^1$ Gru traced by the CO J =2-1 resembles that of V Hya quite closely; the star is surrounded by the expanding disk-like envelope and is driving the medium-velocity wind along the disk plane. We also obtained the excellent images of VY CMa with the CO and $^{13}CO$ J=2-1 and $SO\;6_5-5_4$ lines. The maps of three molecular lines show that the envelope has a significant velocity gradient in the east-west direction, suggesting that the envelope surrounding VY CMa is also flattened and expanding along its radial direction. The high-resolution images obtained with the SMA show that some AGB stars are associated with the asymmetric mass loss including the equatorial wind and bipolar jet.

Rotating annular disks are widely used in data storage devices such as CDs, DVDs(digital versatile disks), and HDs(hard disks) as well as in traditional industrial machines like sawing machines, turbines, brake disks. The exact stress distribution of rotating polar orthotropic disk is derived by solving directly the equilibrium equation instead of using stress function. Stress distributions for typical GFRP and CFRP disks are presented in addition to polycarbonate disk. The results show that the application of CFRP to rotating disk can increase the maximum allowable rotating speed but this may not be applicable to GFRP disk.
DLC(Diamond-like carbon) films possess high hardness, low friction coefficient, and good wear resistance. Due to these properties, DLC films have been used extensively in magnetic hard disk industry. The objective of the present study was to investigate the influence of environmental condition on the tribological behavior of DLC coated hard disk. It is found that the tribological characteristics of DLC films are strongly affected by relative humidity and temperature. Specifically, the friction coefficient increases with increase in temperature at relative humidity of 50%. However, at 20% and 85% RH the effect of temperature was not significant. Also, the degree of wear could be observed using an AFM.
PURPOSES : The objective of this study was to develop an impact resonance (IR) test procedure for thin disk-shaped specimens in order to determine the ${\mid}E^*{\mid}$ and phase angle values of various asphalt mixtures. METHODS : An IR test procedure was developed for evaluating thin disk-shaped specimens, in order to determine the dynamic modulus (${\mid}E^*{\mid}$) of various asphalt mixtures. The IR test method that was developed to determine the elastic modulus values of Portland cement concrete was evaluated, which method uses axisymmetric flexural vibration proposed by Leming et al. (1996). The IR tests were performed on three different mixtures of New York with varying nominal maximum aggregate sizes (NY9.5, NY19, and NY25) at six different temperatures ($10-60^{\circ}C$). The ${\mid}E^*{\mid}$ values obtained from the IR tests were compared with those determined by the commonly used AASHTO T342-11 test. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : The IR test method was employed to determine the ${\mid}E^*{\mid}$ values of thin-disk-shaped specimens of various asphalt mixtures. It was found that the IR test method when used with thin disk-like specimens is a simple, practical, and cheap tool for determining the ${\mid}E^*{\mid}$ values of field cores. Further, it was found the ${\mid}E^*{\mid}$ values obtained from the IR tests using thin disk-like specimens were almost similar to those obtained using the AASHTO T342-11 test.
Small form factor optical disks for near-field optics using solid immersion lens were developed. Disk durability properties in terms of head-disk interface (HDI) properties were investigated by drag test, diamond like carbon film and lubricant film were coated on the small form factor disk to enhance HDI. Disks with glass substrates and lubricant films after heat treatment showed more durable characteristics. Coverlayers made of UV resin were uniformly coated by spin coating In which the ski-jump could not be formed by adopting outer ring technique.

In dward nova we assume the primary star as a white dwarf and the secondary as the late type star which filled Roche lobe. Mass flow from the secondary star leads to the formation of thin accretion disk around the white dwarf. We use the $\alpha$ parameter as viscosity to maintain the disk form and propose that the outburst in dwarf nova cause the step increase of source term. With these assumptions we solve the basic equations of stellar structure using New-Raphson method. We show the physical parameters like temperature, density, pressure, opacity, surface density, height and flux to the radius of disk. Changing the value of $\alpha$, we compare several parameters when mass flow rate is constant with those of when luminosity of disk is brightest. At the same time, we obtain time-dependent variations of luminosity and mass of disk. We propose the suitable range of $\alpha$is 0.15-0.18 to the difference of luminosity. We compare several parameters of disk with those of the normal late type stars which have the same molecular weight of disk. These show the temperature and pressure of disk are similar to those of normal stars but the density of disk is lower. Maybe the outburst in dwarf nova is due to the variation of the $\alpha$ value instead of increment of mass flow from the secondary star.

Disk type underwater gliders are a new type of underwater gliders and they could glide in various directions by adjusting the internal structures, making a turnaround like conventional gliders unnecessary. This characteristic of disk type underwater gliders makes them have great potential application in virtual mooring. Considering dynamic models of conventional underwater gliders could not adequately satisfy the motion characteristic of disk type underwater gliders, a nonlinear dynamic model for the motion simulation of disk type underwater glider is developed in this paper. In the model, the effect of internal masses movement is taken into consideration and a viscous hydrodynamic calculation method satisfying the motion characteristic of disk type underwater gliders is proposed. Through simulating typical motions of a disk type underwater glider, the feasibility of the dynamic model is validated and the disk type underwater glider shows good maneuverability.
Recently, there have been large storage demands for manipulating multimedia data. To solve the tremendous storage demands, one of the major researches is the SAN(Storage Area Network) that provides the local file requests directly from shared-disk storage and also eliminates the server bottlenecks to performance and availability. SAN also improve the network latency and bandwidth through new channel interface like FC(Fibre Channel). But to manipulate the efficient storage network like SAN, traditional local file system and distributed file system are not adaptable and also are lack of researches in terms of a metadata structure for large-scale inode object such as file and directory. In this paper, we describe the architecture and design issues of our shared-disk file system and provide the efficient bitmap for providing the well-formed block allocation in each host, extent-based semi flat structure for storing large-scale file data, and two-phase directory structure of using Extendible Hashing. Also we describe a detailed algorithm for implementing the file system's device driver in Linux Kernel and compare our file system with the general file system like EXT2 and shard disk file system like GFS in terms of file creation, directory creation and I/O rate.

Hydrogenated Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films were Prepared by the radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (RF PECVD) method on silicon substrates using methane $(CH_4)$ and hydrogen $(H_2)$ gas for the application to solid lubricant of MEMS devices. We have checked the influence of varying RF power on tribological properties of DLC film. We have checked their performance as two kinds of method such as FFM (Friction Force Microscope) and BOD (Ball-on Disk) measurement. The friction coefficients and the contact number of cycles to steady state decreased as the increase of RF power with FFM and BOD measurement, respectively.
