  • Loose Parts Monitoring System(LPMS) monitors loosened or detached parts and foreign parts inside the pressure boundary of a reactor coolant system (RCS). It is difficult to discriminate valid signal from LPMS alarms at full power since the signal pattern by thermal shocks and structure friction are similar to those by loose metal impacts. In addition, It is more difficult to discriminate the impact signals induced by the rod driving, sensor hard-line movement and loosened component since they have similar frequency characteristics with valid signals. This paper classifies the signal patterns by analyzing actual LPMS signal captured during nuclear power plant operation.

Inability of Mate and Species Recognition by Male Asian Toads, Bufo gargarizans

  • In recent years, we frequently observed missmatched pairs between male Asian toads, Bufo gargarizans, and bullfrogs, Rana catesbeiana, at the toad breeding ponds, where scramble competition for mating occurred among the male toads. Thus, we performed two-choice experiments to investigate recognition ability of mates and species in male toads. The test males did not discriminate sexes, but the clasped stimulus males immediately produced release calls and stopped it while the clasped stimulus female did not. In addition, the test male toads did not discriminate reproductive state of females and even species. However, male toads chose larger individuals. The present results indicate that the main reason of missmatched amplexus by the male toads is due to 1) the lack of recognition cues of conspecifics, 2) the lack of communication tools like release calls, and 3) the larger size of bullfrogs than male toads themselves.

  • Sesame seed (Sesamum indicum L.) is an important seasoning in Korea and most korean consumer tend to eat the korean sesame seed as the best than other ones produced in oriental countries such as China and Japan. Near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) was applied for discrimination according to geographical origin (Korea, China and so on) of sesame seeds. Near-infrared spectroscopy among the many kinds of techniques could provide a rapid screening, low cost solution to discriminate geographical origin of sesame seed. The objective of this study is to determine if NIR technique could be used to discriminate between the korean sesame seed and non-korean sesame seed by using the new method. Rapid, precise and nondestructive analysis method for determination of the geographic origin of sesame seeds were discriminated relative accurately according to geographical origin using PLS regression method.

  • This paper presents discriminate between magnetizing inrush and internal faults of power transformer by artificial neural networks trained with preprocessing of fault discriminant. The proposed neural networks contain multi-layer perceptron using back-propagation learning algorithm with logistic sigmoid activation function. For this training and test, we used the relaying signals obtained from the EMTP simulation of model power system. It is shown that the proposed transformer protection system by neural networks never misoperated.

자동부품검사를 위한 웨이블렛 변환 기반 영상정합 (Wavelet Transform Based Image Template Matching for Automatic Component Inspection)

  • We propose a template matching method for component inspection of SMD assembly system. To discriminate wrong assembled components, the input image of component is matched with its standard image by template matching algorithm. For a fast inspection system, the calculation time of matching algorithm should be reduced. Since the standard images of all components located in a PCB are stored in computer, it is desirable to reduce the memory size of standard image. We apply the discrete wavelet transformation to reduce the image size as well as the calculation time. Only 7% memory of the BMP image is used to discriminate goodness or badness of components assembly. Comparative results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed method.

  • 본 논문에서는 광센서를 이용하여 컬러 디스플레이 장치를 사용하는 다양한 주위 조명광을 판별할 수 있는 시스템을 구현하였다. 디스플레이를 사용하는 외부 조명광을 판별하기 위해서 Ye와 Cy 두 출력을 갖는 광센서를 사용하여 조명광 판별 시스템을 구현하였고, 구현한 실제 시스템에 대한 실험 결과 조도가 변하는 다양한 조명광에 대해서 광센서의 출력 전압비(Ye/Cy)로 조명광의 판별이 가능한 것을 확인하였다.

  • 멀티 캐리어 레이더는 수신 신호로부터 표적의 탐지 및 파라메타 추출을 수행하게 되므로, 신호처리에 앞서 재머 신호가 영향을 주는 채널을 배제시키거나, 재머가 억압된 신호를 이용해서 신호처리를 수행해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 멀티캐리어 레이더에서 재머 채널을 구분하고, 재머가 억제된 신호를 생성하는 방법을 제시한다. 재머 채널 구분을 위해서는 각 채널로부터 얻어진 공분산 행렬의 표적신호 및 재머 성분을 포함하는 고유벡터(eigenvector)의 각 스펙트럼(angular spectrum) 특성을 이용한다. 수학적 분석에 의해 재머 채널의 구분 기준 근거를 제시하며, 고유벡터 분석에 의해 재머가 억압된 신호를 생성할 수 있음을 보인다. DOA(Direction Of Arrival) 추정 시뮬레이션을 통해서 제시된 방법이 재머 채널 구분 및 재머가 억압된 신호를 효과적으로 생성할 수 있음을 보인다.

Intronic Sequences for the Discrimination of Silkworm Strains in Silkworm Powder

  • After a serial study on the therapeutic efficacy of the powdery silkworm for diabetics was positively resulted in, many powdery silkworm products were on the market in Korea. Up to now, however, no causal method is available to discriminate the strain of silkworms that is a major ingredient for manufacturing powdery silkworm, even though the quality of the powdery silkworm differs greatly by source and origin of strains. We previously were successful in identifying 25 silkworm strains kept in Korea using nine intronic sequences. In this study, we tested the utility of the nine intronic sequences to distinguish the most widely reared silkworm strains originated from Korea and China. Two intron regions, PTTH Intron3 and PTTH Intron3, showed a substantial sequence divergence (mean sequence divergence of 3.13% in PTTH Intron3 and 4.99% in PTTH Intron3). These two intronic sequences provided no identical sequences among the seven strains tested. Thus, these sequences each along can be used to discriminate the seven strains tested in this study. Furthermore, other intron regions, except for VDP Intron4 allowed us to discriminate $2{\sim}4$ strains by strain-specific unique insertion/deletion or substitution.
