  • In this Research, in order to improve problems of not enough technical validation and structural and hydraulic stability evaluation when nature-friendly revetment block is applied to field, hydraulic stability evaluation according to hydraulic behavior change of porosity soil block for vegetation reinforcement that secures ecological function was reviewed. By selecting object section, numerical analysis and hydraulic model experiments were performed; for numerical analysis, by using 1-dimensional numerical analysis model HEC-RAS and 2-dimensional numerical analysis RMA-2, one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) numerical analysis were performed; by applying Froude's similarity law, reduced-scale hydraulic model experiments according to vegetation existence were performed. In hydraulic model experiment, for validity of experiment result, the result of velocity and tractive force of reduced-scale hydraulic model experiments was converted to prototype so that it can be compared and reviewed under the same condition of one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) numerical analysis result; as a result, it was confirmed that comparatively united result appeared, and by comparing prototype-converted tractive force result with revetment's allowable tractive force coming from an existing research, block's hydraulic stability was suggested.

  • As the value and importance of softwares are growing up, software theft and piracy become a much larger problem. To tackle this problem, it is highly required to provide an accurate method for detecting software theft and piracy. Especially, while software theft is relatively easy in the case of Android applications (apps), screening illegal apps has not been properly performed in Android markets. In this paper, we propose a method to effectively measure the similarity between Android apps for detecting software theft at the executable file level. Our proposed method extracts method reference frequency and manifest information through static analysis of executable Android apps as the main features for similarity measurement. Each app is represented as an n-dimensional vectors with the features, and then cosine similarity is utilized as the similarity measure. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method by evaluating its accuracy in comparison with typical source code-based similarity measurement methods. As a result of the experiments for the Android apps whose source file and executable file are available side by side, we found that our similarity degree measured at the executable file level is almost equivalent to the existing well-known similarity degree measured at the source file level.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved optical flow algorithm which reduces computational complexity as well as noise level. This algorithm reduces computational time by applying level simplification technique and removes noise by using eigenvectors of objects. Optical flow is one of the accurate algorithms used to generate depth information from two image frames using the vectors which track the motions of pixels. This technique, however, has disadvantage of taking very long computational time because of the pixel-based calculation and can cause some noise problems. The level simplifying technique is applied to reduce the computational time, and the noise is removed by applying optical flow only to the area of having eigenvector, then using the edge image to generate the depth information of background area. Three-dimensional images were created from two-dimensional images using the proposed method which generates the depth information first and then converts into three-dimensional image using the depth information and DIBR(Depth Image Based Rendering) technique. The error rate was obtained using the SSIM(Structural SIMilarity index).

  • This paper proposes an indexing technique for fast retrieval of similar image subsequences using the multi-dimensional time warping distance. The time warping distance is a more suitable similarity measure than Lp distance in many applications where sequences may be of different lengths and/or different sampling rates. Our indexing scheme employs a disk-based suffix tree as an index structure and uses a lower-bound distance function to filter out dissimilar subsequences without false dismissals. It applies the normaliration for an easier control of relative weighting of feature dimensions and the discretization to compress the index tree. Experiments on medical and synthetic image sequences verify that the proposed method significantly outperforms the naive method and scales well in a large volume of image sequence databases.

  • This paper proposes a design for efficient and accurate retrieval of similar image subsequences using the multi-dimensional time warping distance as similarity evaluation tool in image sequence database after building of two indexing structures implemented with priority queue and suffix tree respectively. Receiving query image sequence, at first step, the proposed method searches the candidate set of similar image subsequences in priory queue index structure. If it can not get satisfied results, it retrieves another candidate set in suffix tree index structure at second step. The using of the low-bound distance function can remove the dissimilar subsequence without false dismissals during similarity evaluating process between query image sequence and stored sequences in two index structures.

  • Visual information retrieval and image databases are very important applications of spatial access methods. The quaries for these applications are visual and based not on exact match but on dubjective similarity. The individual aperations of spatial access methods are much more expensive than those of conventional one-dimensional access methods. Also, because the visual queries are much more complex than textual queries, an efficient processing technique for visual queries is one of the critical requirements in the development of large and scalable image databases. Therefore, efficient translation and execution for the complex visual queries are not less important than those of textual databases. In this paper, we introduce our cognitive and topological studies that are required to process subjective visual queries effectively. Then, we propose an efficient translation and execution techniques for similarity based visual queries by conducting these related studies.

  • Amid rapidly increasing imagery inputs and their volume in a remote sensing imagery database, Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is an effective tool to search for an image feature or image content of interest a user wants to retrieve. It seeks to capture salient features from a 'query' image, and then to locate other instances of image region having similar features elsewhere in the image database. For a CBIR approach that uses texture as a primary feature primitive, designing a texture descriptor to better represent image contents is a key to improve CBIR results. For this purpose, an extended feature vector combining the Gabor filter and co-occurrence histogram method is suggested and evaluated for quantitywise and qualitywise retrieval performance criterion. For the better CBIR performance, assessing similarity between high dimensional feature vectors is also a challenging issue. Therefore a number of distance metrics (i.e. L1 and L2 norm) is tried to measure closeness between two feature vectors, and its impact on retrieval result is analyzed. In this paper, experimental results are presented with several CBIR samples. The current results show that 1) the overall retrieval quantity and quality is improved by combining two types of feature vectors, 2) some feature is better retrieved by a specific feature vector, and 3) retrieval result quality (i.e. ranking of retrieved image tiles) is sensitive to an adopted similarity metric when the extended feature vector is employed.

  • Three-dimensional (3D) video scenes are complex and difficult to control, especially when scene switching occurs. In this paper, we propose two algorithms based on an incremental proportional-integral-derivative (PID) algorithm and a similarity analysis between views to improve the method of bit allocation for multi-view high efficiency video coding (MV-HEVC). Firstly, an incremental PID algorithm is introduced to control the buffer "liquid level" to reduce the negative impact on the target bit allocation of the view layer and frame layer owing to the fluctuation of the buffer "liquid level". Then, using the image similarity between views is used to establish, a bit allocation calculation model for the multi-view video main viewpoint and non-main viewpoint is established. Then, a bit allocation calculation method based on hierarchical B frames is proposed. Experimental simulation results verify that the algorithm ensures a smooth transition of image quality while increasing the coding efficiency, and the PSNR increases by 0.03 to 0.82dB while not significantly increasing the calculation complexity.

  • This paper presents the theory of similarity transformations applied to the momentum and energy equations for laminar, forced, external boundary layer flow over a horizontal flat plate which leads to a set of non-linear, ordinary differential equations of phase change material slurry(PCM Slurry). The momentum and energy equation set numerically to obtain the non-dimensional velocity and temperature profiles in a laminar boundary layer are solved. The heat transfer characteristics of PCM slurry was numerically investigated with similar method. It is clarified that the similar solution method of Newtonian fluid can be used reasonably this type of PCM slurry which has low concentration. The data of local wall heat flux and convective heat transfer coefficient of PCM slurry are higher than those of water more than 150$\~$200$\%$, approximately.

  • The purpose of this study was to extract emotional dimensions from Korean adjectives relating to apartment noise. Noise-related 296 Korean adjectives were extracted from a dictionary and three evaluators selected 96 adjectives from those by removing very similar ones in meaning. Two types of 96 7-point scales were conducted to college students for evaluation, whether each adjective describes apartment noise appropriately. From this evaluation, 28 adjectives having above 4.5 points were selected. Again, 8 different types of 7-point scales on 378 adjective pairs(28 x 27/2) were administrated to separate college students to evaluate the degree of similarity between 28 adjectives. Based upon this evaluation, 14 adjectives were finally selected and scores on similarity sere analyzed through two different statistical analyses (Multi-dimensional scale and Cluster analysis). The results showed that three dimensions (displeasure, sensitivity and perceived loudness) exist in peoples' emotional response state to apartment noise. The previous studies have treated annoyance and sensitivity as separate measures to noise. However, this study showed that these two factors were on the same emotional dimension labeled as 'sensitivity' In addition, new dimension, labeled as 'displeasure', was found.
