A Study on Metaverse Construction Based on 3D Spatial Information of Convergence Sensors using Unreal Engine 5 (언리얼 엔진 5를 활용한 융복합센서의 3D 공간정보기반 메타버스 구축 연구)

  • Recently, the demand and development for non-face-to-face services are rapidly progressing due to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19, and attention is focused on the metaverse at the center. Entering the era of the 4th industrial revolution, Metaverse, which means a world beyond virtual and reality, combines various sensing technologies and 3D reconstruction technologies to provide various information and services to users easily and quickly. In particular, due to the miniaturization and economic increase of convergence sensors such as unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) capable of high-resolution imaging and high-precision LiDAR(Light Detection and Ranging) sensors, research on digital-Twin is actively underway to create and simulate real-life twins. In addition, Game engines in the field of computer graphics are developing into metaverse engines by expanding strong 3D graphics reconstuction and simulation based on dynamic operations. This study constructed a mirror-world type metaverse that reflects real-world coordinate-based reality using Unreal Engine 5, a recently announced metaverse engine, with accurate 3D spatial information data of convergence sensors based on unmanned aerial system(UAS) and LiDAR. and then, spatial information contents and simulations for users were produced based on various public data to verify the accuracy of reconstruction, and through this, it was possible to confirm the construction of a more realistic and highly utilizable metaverse. In addition, when constructing a metaverse that users can intuitively and easily access through the unreal engine, various contents utilization and effectiveness could be confirmed through coordinate-based 3D spatial information with high reproducibility.

  • This study is to think a new arena of collective play culture at the university campus festival for digital generation used to be individually consuming play in cyberspace. While cyberia is virtual cultural space by providing gigantic platforms in which producers and consumers meet, this space has characterized as individuality and disembodiment, that is why recalling the collective play culture at the off-line. This article is to examine the characteristics and meaning of the recent campus festivals during the history of Korean college festivals, and to analyze proposals of play-contents applied by various theories. The 2016-7' proposals include several kind of board game and experimental theatre sublimed philosophical reflection, which shows a kind of attempt to escape from the cultural industrial logic, however they are characterized by Ilinx(drinking culture) and Alea(board game) emphasized more than Agon, and Mimicry combined with paidia rule strongly. Under the neoliberalism, college students' gloomy reality is represented emasculating of the structure of competitions in the context of an unreal world and Mimicry of experience stay in front of the limen before entering the embodiment.

A Study of Use of Body Motions and Body-weighted Values for Motion Display in Virtual Characters (신체 가중치를 이용한 동일 감정 표현의 몸동작 변형)

  • Body motions are commonly used to express emotions in virtual characters based on body parts, which are frequently employed in games. For this purpose, it is necessary to create different types of animations corresponding to the emotions shown by virtual characters. Therefore, a large of number of animations should be created for different gestures depending on the level of human emotion. In this paper, we propose a method for displaying gestures with various degrees of complexity on the basis of the level of emotion in virtual characters. In particular, this method can be used to display passive and exaggerated expressions by adding weighted values to the frames that rotate the characters to make them show different gestures depending on the level of emotion. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, we use the Emotional Animation Tool (EATool), with which body-weighted values can be applied to the actual or virtual characters. After assigning different emotions to walking motions in the newly developed environment, we apply different body-weighted values depending on the level of each emotion. The results of a comparative test reveal that a given type of walking motion differs with the level of emotion.

  • The success of a three-dimensional blockbuster movie, AVARTA, brought an public attention on the expansion of three-dimensional computer applications, and it allows experts predict further hardware technology developments to support the such applications. Futhermore, an internet based infra structure and three-dimensional structure, third generation network community, advanced computer networks have influenced advancement in computer technology within the 3D game industry and the spread of 2D computer animation technologies. This advancement of computer technologies allow the industry to overcome a limitation of generating cultural design contexts existed within 2D network community. However, despite of the expansion of 2D and 3D computer technologies, a limitation of analysing designers' intentions on morphology of digital contents and user interface still exists. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze (1) present conditions of the 3D industry and (2) protocols of designers' cognitive design processes based on their design communication, contents, and tools. Analysis was conducted based on literature reviews and case precedent analyses. For the analysis, a 2D Avarta sketch character was designed and then applied into a 3D game system. Observations how designers solve cultural problem within the structure via Avarta were conducted. Outcomes were then coded for further analysis.

  • Alvin Toffler mentioned that it is important for future society to keep pace with synchronization and that time deviations can hinder social development. As we experience the new normal era of untact, we have experienced an increase in non-face-to-face contact and accelerated digital transformation. Amid these rapid changes, we can maintain the need for synchronization or change in space. Therefore, we would like to study what kind of settlements people create and choose. We looked at the metaverse as an object that could indirectly find out about this, and used the content called "Animal Crossing" to collect data related to the spatial form of the metaverse. Sampling utilized a judgment sampling method during non-probability sampling to alleviate differences due to the progress of the game. The collected data was classified according to floor plan and location type and briefly organized through descriptive statistics. After matching each facility by use, data was constructed by setting coordinates for each cluster and listing them. This data was interpreted graphically on the coordinate plane for each cluster, and Euclidean analysis was performed to analyze the relationships between clusters and residential choice using a Euclidean matrix. As a result of the analysis, it could be interpreted that efficiency was pursued by arranging similar functions in close proximity. Nevertheless, when choosing a residence, it was interpreted that the intention was to create a community through arrangement adjacent to residents rather than efficiency or convenience. Due to the differences between the metaverse and the real world, it is expected that there will be limitations in equating it with reality. However, through the space expressed in the virtual world by people who are far away from the constraints of reality, we can indirectly know the wishes that we have not been able to express due to our lack of awareness.

  • Social Network Service(SNS) indicates the service to promote mutual friendship built in online focused on social relation between people. While a demand and concern of the service gets higher now more than ever, there are a lack of the approach in aspect of both technology and service still. 'Facebook' is the most famous in the world and the biggest in user number among various social network service. We investigate the key factors of 'Facebook' based on the side of approach both technology and service. We observe the behavior of users who have rich experience on using the social network service to find it. The result of this study reveals that an asynchronous method related to the technology drive to improve a sociality in social media. Furthermore, we find that openness connected with the technology force to intent the closed attribute in service through user observation. It is the unique qualities social media holds. The successful social network service can be expected if social media are developed to concern these factors.

  • An e-passport is equipped with bio information by adding the non-attachable IC chip with a smart function. In order to solve such a problem, the user's privacy is protected by using the BAC, PA, AA and EAC mechanisms. However, the password key used in the BAC mechanism is made of the combination of the MRZ values. As a result, it is possible to decode the password by using the indiscriminate attacking program after finding out the combined rules of MRZ. This thesis suggests the mechanism with an improved level of efficiency through the time-stamp values by using the information of images and fingerprints and checking the forge or falsification of the e-passport when establishing a safe channel between the chip of the e-passport and the decoding system.

Consumer Values Derived from Products by Consumers: Difference among the Four Types of Products Classified with Product Attributes and Visibility (소비자가 제품에서 추구하는 소비자가치: 제품 속성과 가시성에 따른 4가지 제품유형을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand consumer values derived from products by the contemporary consumers, as the meaning of a product is extended from the functional utilities to the mediums of fulfilling consumer values. Consumer values have been researched from the marketers' perspectives and, thus, the scales to measure consumer values tend to be too abstract and not always reflective of the consumers' perspectives. Holbrook's typology of consumer values is utilized and the products are classified into four groups according to the product characteristic of the utilitarian versus hedonic, and the consumption spaces of the indoor and outdoor. The findings are as follows. First, the values of efficiency, excellence, ethics, and spirituality are more likely derived from utilitarian products, while the value of play is more likely derived from the hedonic products. Second, the values of efficiency, excellence, and ethics are more likely derived from the indoor products, and values of playfulness, esthetics, status, and respect are more likely derived from the outdoor products. Third, the most frequently mentioned values are the efficiency, playfulness, and status. Fourth, the list of products answered as being representative for four types of products are short to include obvious products such as TV, mobile phone, computer, car, refrigerator, and MP3 player. Both the utilitarian and hedonic values are derived from TV, computer, and mobile phone, while the utilitarian value from refrigerator and car, and the hedonic value from MP3 player, digital camera, and game consoles. The results imply that consumer values should be carefully understood and reflected in developing new products in order to successfully fulfill consumers' underlying needs and requirements.

  • This study suggests the effectiveness of G-learning English afterschool classes implemented to elementary school students at low achievement level in English. These days, the use of games in teaching and learning, known as G-learning, has gradually expanded, so it is necessary to consider how to adapt G-learning generally in English education. A G-learning afterschool English class was implemented to 23 low-level 5th grade students in an elementary school located in Daejon for 12 weeks. This study set two hypotheses aiming to determine the effectiveness in achievement and affectiveness of the participants. Pre and post achievement tests were conducted. Also, survey and FGI (focused group interview) were carried out twice with the participants. The study found that students' spelling awareness, vocabulary recognition and dialogue comprehension ability (hypothesis 1) were all improved with statistical significance. Moreover, after the class, participants' confidence and interest toward English study showed meaningful increases.

Reliable e-Commerce Model on P2P Environment (P2P 환경에서 신뢰성 있는 e-Commerce 모델)

  • A P2P is a method that can share and exchange on digital resources through a direct connection on personnel without a central server. In this paper, we apply a P2P technology to a traditional electronic commerce method so that a seller and a customer can perform a commercial transaction through a direct communication. As such a result, we propose a new e-Commerce model on P2P environment to assure fairness in commercial transactions. To achieve our goal, we put an escrow server which is responsible for guarantee fair contents delivery and payment for the contents between a seller and a customer. When a customer buys content, he first obtains reputation values implicating reliability for the content and refers to these values to determine purchase. The proposed scheme, we can improve the reliability for the purchasing content and provide the fairness to both a seller and a customer simultaneously.
