  • This study aims to empirically investigate how users' online engagement behaviors predict their uses of paid contents. To this end, the data from the 2016 Korean Media Panel Survey, which has been conducted annually by the Korea Information Society Development Institute(KISDI), were analyzed. Major findings(N=8.313) were as follows. First, the active type of online engagement(e.g., posting, commenting), which contributes to direct creation of online contents, was the most powerful predictor to explain the DV. On the other hand, relatively passive actions of user engagement(e.g., sharing, endorsing, voting) turned out to have no significant effects on the uses of paid contents, just as personality traits and online privacy concerns did. Based on these results, it is recommended that online contents or platform service providers should try to establish clearly-targeted marketing strategies, after thoroughly collecting and analyzing the data of users' various online behaviors.

Thus it provides the theoretical and practical implications to the political campaign, and eventually contributes to the development of democracy. For these objectives, the total of 729 people who have the right to vote were telephone surveyed using the peoplemeter, CATI program in the 18th Presidential Election (12 areas including Seoul) of Dec. 19th 2012, and Re and By-election of April 24th 2013. Research question is to examine how the 5 attributes of the media engagement (interest, immersion, relevance, satisfaction and participation), play a role as the moderating variables in cross-correlation, socio-economic status and media properties. The result shows that of the five properties of media engagement, the relevant factor is the important parameter of mediating variable to the causal relationship. The media usage (TV, SNS, print media), socio-economic status (gender, age, income, marriage and area), involvement and the Presidential Election, and Re and By-election are also effective in the five attributes of media engagement. • The current study investigated mediating effects of self-regulatory system in the context of public service announcements (PSAs). We conducted a survey to collect participants' orientation of self-regulatory systems, emotional response and evaluation of PSAs. A total of 70 undergraduate students with mean age of 22.49 (SD = 3.22). Results showed that emotional engagement to the PSAs is affected by ad liking and, in turn, directly influences intention to act as a campaign outcome. Furthermore, our findings suggested that promotion-oriented individuals are more likely to commit PSA messages than do the prevention-oriented individuals. Therefore, messages of the PSA campaign should include hope and aspiration, indicating the connection of accomplishment and advancement.
