  • In accordance with the computerization of railway signaling systems, the interface link between the signaling systems has been replaced by a digital communication channel. At the same time, the importance of the communication link has become increasingly significant. However, there are some questionable matters in the current state of railway signaling systems in KNR. First, different communication protocols have been applied to create an interface between railway signaling systems although the protocols have the same functions. Next, the communication protocols currently used in the railway fields have some illogical parts such as structure, byte formation, error correction scheme, and so on. To solve these matters, the standard communication protocol for railway signaling systems is designed. The newly designed protocol is overviews in this paper. And the simulation is performed to analysis the performance of data link control for designed protocol. According to this simulation, it is identified that the link throughput of new protocol is improved about 10% and the frame error rate is improved than existing protocol. And it is verified the safety and liveness properties of designed protocol by using a formal method for specifying the designed protocol. It is expected that there will be an increase in safety, reliability and efficiency in terms of the maintenance of the signaling systems by using the designed communication protocol for railway signaling.

  • In this paper, the performance of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) was assessed by using computer simulations performed using Matlab. We analyzed channel estimation algorithm for adaptive modulation techniques and effect of system using designed simulator in Multimedia wireless communication multipath fading channel environment. Also, we analyzed performance of adaptive OFDM systems that apply adaptive equalizer using guided result through BER. In result, in case of adaptive modulation OFDM systems that modulation mode changes according to channel state, we knew that adaptive modulation OFDM systems have gains of about 7dB performance than general system (BER=$10^{-1}$). Thus we know that adaptive OFDM propose systems is required for efficient transmission in the high speed Multimedia wireless communication channel environment.

  • Most of the current traffic signal controller use load switches to transmit high voltage power to the signal lamps. The direct transmission of high voltage power may cause a lot of problems like leakages of electric power, obstructions of pedestrian, environmental disfigurements. To overcome these problems, the development of digital type signal controller has been trying in the various methods. Digital communication between a master controller and signal lamps is the most important part to improve control performance in the digital type controller. A communication system for the digital signal controller was developed in this study. The system bases on CAN specification, includes ID structure for most peripheral devices like loops, signal lamps, push buttons, police switches. The operability of this system verified with a software based CAN simulation tool.

  • Many systems rely on reliable timestamps to determine the time of a particular action or event. This is especially true in digital investigations where investigators are attempting to determine when a suspect actually committed an action. The challenge, however, is that objects are not updated at the exact moment that an event occurs, but within some time-span after the actual event. In this work we define a simple model of digital systems with objects that have associated timestamps. The model is used to predict object update patterns for objects with associated timestamps, and make predictions about these update time-spans. Through empirical studies of digital systems, we show that timestamp update patterns are not instantaneous. We then provide a method for calculating the distribution of timestamp updates on a particular system to determine more accurate action instance times.

  • As internet is getting advanced day by day, digital contents have been developed in various areas as killer content in the IT industry. It needs to develop lots of complicated digital content protect systems due to the enhancement and variety of user's multimedia devices. Although there are lots of protect systems based on DRM(Digital Rights Management) technology, it is difficult to provide secure protection because of the problems resulting from analog hole problem, inefficiency of key sharing and various independent protect technologies. Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel authentication and protect system based on RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) technology to solve the problems and show possibility of free content duplication and efficient contents management in smart home environments.

  • In this paper, we present a phase coherent all-digital transceiver for underwater acoustic communication, which allows the system to reduce complexity and increase robustness in time variant underwater environments. It is designed in the digital domain except for transducers and amplifiers and implemented by using a multiple digital signal processors (DSPs) system. For phase coherent reception, conventional systems employed phase-locked loop (PLL) and delay-locked loop (DLL) for synchronization, but this paper suggests a frame synchronization scheme based on the quadrature receiver structure without using phase information. We show experimental results in the underwater anechoic basin at MOERI. The results show that the adaptive equalizer compensates frame synchronization error and the correction capability is dependent on the length of equalizer.

  • As VLSI technology advances rapidly, the operating frequency of digital systems becomes very fast. In such a high-speed system, there are many factors that threaten signal integrity. The noise sources in digital system include the noises in power supply, ground bounce and packaging media and distortions on single and multiple transmission lines. This paper will present a technology survey useful in the design of Gigabit interconnection systems. Some case studies have been constructed which show the lossy transmission line effect of skin effect. dielectric loss, with backplane connectors using the theoretical and practical conditions.

  • Digital radiographic systems allow the implementation of a fully digital picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and provide the greater dynamic range of digital detectors with possible reduction of X-ray exposure to the patient. This article reviewed the basic physical principles of digital radiographic imaging system in dental clinics generally. Digital radiography can be divided into computed radiography (CR) and direct radiography (DR). CR systems acquire digital images using phosphor storage plates (PSP) with a separate image readout process. On the other hand, DR systems convert X-rays into electrical charges by means of a direct readout process. DR systems can be further divided into direct and indirect conversion systems depending on the type of X-ray conversion. While a direct conversion requires a photoconductor that converts X-ray photons into electrical charges directly, in an indirect conversion, lightsensitive sensors such as CCD or a flat-panel detector convert visible light, proportional to the incident X-ray energy by a scintillator, into electrical charges. Indirect conversion sensors using CCD or CMOS without lens-coupling are used in intraoral radiography. CR system using PSP is mainly used in extraoral radiographic system and a linear array CCD or CR sensors, in panoramic system. Currently, the digital radiographic system is an important subject in the dental field. Most studies reported that no significant difference in diagnostic performance was found between the digital and conventional systems. To accept advances in technology and utilize benefits provided by the systems, the continuous feedback between doctors and manufacturers is essential.

  • As analog audio systems are changing to digital systems, the DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is expected to provide CD quality audio, various data services with interactiveness and excellent mobile reception ability. The DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting), as more advanced successor of the DAB, adds video capability on the audio and data services. The DAB system assures high quality audio services even when the reception is through portable and mobile receivers. In this paper, USB-DAB receiver and PCI-DMB receiver are designed and implemented. The DAB receiver and the DMB receiver incorporate with PC to make use of computational power and application software of Pc. This enables the developed system to be more flexible and to meet various applications easier.

  • Digital satellite systems are usually integrated with terrestrial systems to provide various services, and in these cases they should satisfy the performance objectives defined by the terrestrial systems. Recommendation ITU-R S.1062 specifies the performance of digital satellite systems. The performance objectives were given in terms of bit error probability divided by the average number of errors per burst versus percentage of time. This paper presents theoretical method to estimate performance measure of digital satellite systems defined in Recommendation ITU-R S.1062. We show performance estimation results of duo-binary Turbo codes, and verify them by comparing to the simulation results.
