  • We have developed an analog associative memory implemented with an analog array which has linear writing and erasing characteristics. The associative memory adopts a winner-take-all strategy. The operation for reading in the memory is executed with an absolute differencing circuit and a winner-take-all (WTA) circuit suitable for a nearest-match function of a content-addressable memory. We also present a system architecture that enables highly-paralleled fast writing and quick readout as well as high integration density. A multiple memory cell configuration is also presented for achieving higher integration density, quick readout, and fast writing. The system technology presented here is ideal for a real time recognition system. We simulate the function of the mechanism by menas of Hspice with $1.2{\mu}$ double poly CMOS parameters of MOSIS fabrication process.

  • This study presents the application of multi-temporal aerial photographs in detecting change in a small urban area. For the panchromatic aerial images of the scale of 1/20000 and 1/37500 photographed in 1987, 1996 and 2000, image geometric correction and registration were carried out before performing change detection in a common reference system and then image mosaicking. The image differencing technigue was employed to detect urban features and landcover change and then the results were compared to those of image ratioing techniques. Also threshold values were suggested in applying image differencing for change detection.

  • In this paper, we propose a high-quality image acquisition algorithm using only a single image, which the high-quality image is normally referred as HDR ones. In order to acquire the HDR image, conventional methods need many images having different exposure values at the same scene and should delicately adjust the color values for a bit-expansion or an exposure fusion. Thus, they require considerable calculations and complex structures. Therefore, the proposed algorithm suggests a completely new approach using one image for the high-quality image acquisition by applying statistical difference and histogram manipulation, or histogram specification, techniques. The techniques could control the pixel's statistical distribution of the input image into the desired one through the local and the global modifications, respectively. As the result, the quality of the proposed algorithm is better than those of conventional methods implemented in commercial image editing softwares.

  • The purpose of this study is to design strategic hospital service based on each hospital's features. For this study, an assessment was conducted by 398 in-patents of one university hospital located in Seoul. The self-questionnaires, which were investigated from Oct. 15th to 29th in 2008, compared central reception desk with ward reception desk in satisfaction and re-use rate of patients. The major results of this study are as follow. First, according to each reception desk user, they have different satisfaction of it. As for the staff kindness, admission procedure, discharge procedure and manner of staff, those made patients be gratified as well. Second, when it comes to the intention of re-use, there were no significant features between them. Only convenience in admission and discharge procedure, however, was an attractive factor for the recommendation. Third, this study found out the reasons for higher re-use rate of central reception desk users. Regarding service, they were contented with the time for test and treatment. As for the hospital service, they would like to re-use this hospital because of convenient steps of paying interim fee and getting certificates. Forth, this study found out the reasons for higher re-use rate of ward reception desk users. As a point of hospital service view, they responded that respected privacy, hospital facility and general service were good for staying. As for the manner of staff, they mentioned nurses and staff in charge and whole staff members were kind. When it comes to the procedures of patient management, steps of discharge and paying interim fee were convenience. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that providing a ward reception desk service can boost the satisfaction and re-use rate of in-patients. Furthermore, this strategic management method would be good for not only cutting the moving line but also efficient in-patient care system. These results can be used for the strategic hospital marketing field, as well. Even though this study has a limitation of the targeted populations which were only in a ward reception desk running hospital, it can say that having competitiveness in satisfaction of hospital service is good for promoting and differencing each hospital. Consequently, whole general management system would be adjusted first for differencing each hospital; however, this sort of additional factor should be concerned as well. I expect that this study would give meaningful data for designing strategic and differencing marketing method to lots of hospitals.

  • Parametric studies are performed of the factors influencing the afterbody drag. To display the effect of differing afterbody shapes, several ogive boattails with combinations of the base area and the angle of boattail end are computed using axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations with central differencing and a DADI scheme. And Chien's $\kappa-\epsilon$ model is employed used for computations of turbulent flows around the base region. The effects of base area, boattail angle and jet on/off are illustrated on afterbody drag at transonic speed.

  • Recent results in applied statistics have shown that the presence of periodicities in time series may influence the estimation and testing of the fractional differencing parameter. In this article, we provide further evidence on the issue by using several procedures of fractional integration. The results show that in the presence of periodicities, the order of integration can be erroneously detected. An empirical application in the context of seasonal data is also carried out at the end of the article.

  • A Thin-layer Wavier-Stokes equations are applied for the hypersonic flow over blunt bodies with applications to laminar as well as turbulent flows. The equations are expressed in the forms of flux-vector splitting and explicit algorithm. The upwind schemes of Steger-Warming and Van Leer are investigated to predict accurately the heating loads along the surface of the body. A mixed scheme has been presented for the differencing the convective terms and the mixed scheme is found to be less dissipative producing accurate solutions.

  • A multidimensional numerical simulation of turbulent combustion in a constant volume bomb is implemented to clarify the effects of swirl on combustion. This simulation includes the ICED-ALE numerical technique, the skew-upwind differencing scheme, the modified .Kappa.-.epsilon. turbulence model, and the combustion model of the Arrhenius type and the turbulence-mixing-control type. The calculations of the turbulent combustion with swirl are carried out. It shows that the results agree with the measurements allowably. Therefore, the effects of swirl on turbulent combustion are examined through the parametric study of swirl.
