Background: The ability to predict the survival time of breast cancer patients is important because of the potential high morbidity and mortality associated with the disease. To develop a predictive inference for determining the survival of breast cancer patients, we applied a novel Bayesian method. In this paper, we propose the development of a databased statistical probability model and application of the Bayesian method to predict future survival times for White Hispanic female breast cancer patients, diagnosed in the US during 1973-2009. Materials and Methods: A stratified random sample of White Hispanic female patient survival data was selected from the Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) database to derive statistical probability models. Four were considered to identify the best-fit model. We used three standard model-building criteria, which included Akaike Information Criteria (AIC), Bayesian Information Criteria (BIC), and Deviance Information Criteria (DIC) to measure the goodness of fit. Furthermore, the Bayesian method was used to derive future survival inferences for survival times. Results: The highest number of White Hispanic female breast cancer patients in this sample was from New Mexico and the lowest from Hawaii. The mean (SD) age at diagnosis (years) was 58.2 (14.2). The mean (SD) of survival time (months) for White Hispanic females was 72.7 (32.2). We found that the exponentiated Weibull model best fit the survival times compared to other widely known statistical probability models. The predictive inference for future survival times is presented using the Bayesian method. Conclusions: The findings are significant for treatment planning and health-care cost allocation. They should also contribute to further research on breast cancer survival issues.
This study, with a space of cafeteria for the object, selected adjective and space for space evaluation based on existing dissertations and experts' survey so as to analyze the perception features by adjective into perception types. At space evaluation, the purpose of visiting the cafeteria was setup for test. Analysis of what perceptual information on the space was acquired enables to set up any features at a space and the direction of designing. The approach through the evaluation of space perception assigning this kind of observing intentionality can be applied to emotion technique which connects a designer to customers. From this study, the following conclusion has been reached. Frist, the difference at perception type by gender is formality, which is higher with women than men. When it is considered that other types are identical, it can be seen that the formality is the perception type to decide the selection of gender and has the highest average value among all the three types. On the whole, men have the tendency for regarding spaciality as the most important, while women have that for looking upon formality as such. Second, to the question what element they would see first when visiting for conversation, men and women answered respectively that they would see partition (35.6%) and chairs (38.0%). Men had a very strong propensity for the element of area section(partition) supporting the activity of purpose and women regarded the element of behavior support(chair) carrying out the activity of purpose as important. Third, the analysis of deviance shown at the formality of perception type showed that men had dispersive selection at the process of selecting all adjectives and their features at the process of space perception were higher than spaciality and fancine.
Some of Chekhov's short stories strongly depicted 'women' physical desire and the sins of the flesh. Chekhov created his own eroticism in life as it is through the stories. While the Chekhovian eroticism naturally emphasized on 'sensual issue' between men and women, it is not limited to the erotic expressions only. In the stories, Chekhov is saying about the fundamental causes that why women must cheat on their men, so that he focused on their mental conflicts between corporalities and morality. Finally, women' infidelity and deviance make them cause misfortunes more than ever. Focusing on the best Chekhovian eroticism short stories, , , and , the writer explores Chekhovian eroticism's background and definition, and characteristics by analysis each text deeply.

Purpose: In order to develop strategies to prevent farm-work accidents relating to agricultural machinery, influential factors were examined in this paper. The effects of these factors were quantified using logistic regression. Methods: Based on the results of a survey on farm-work accidents conducted by the National Academy of Agricultural Science, 21 tentative independent variables were selected. To apply these variables to regression, the presence of multicollinearity was examined by comparing correlation coefficients, checking the statistical significance of the coefficients in a simple linear regression model, and calculating the variance inflation factor. A logistic regression model and determination method of its goodness of fit was defined. Results: Among 21 independent variables, 13 variables were not collinear each other. The results of a logistic regression analysis using these variables showed that the model was significant and acceptable, with deviance of 714.053. Parameter estimation results showed that four variables (age, power tiller ownership, cognizance of the government's safety policy, and consciousness of safety) were significant. The logistic regression model predicted that the former two increased accident odds by 1.027 and 8.506 times, respectively, while the latter two decreased the odds by 0.243 and 0.545 times, respectively. Conclusions: Prevention strategies against factors causing an accident, such as the age of farmers and the use of a power tiller, are necessary. In addition, more efficient trainings to elevate the farmer's consciousness about safety must be provided.
The purpose of this study is to compare with three juvenile delinquency theories on adolescents' status offenses including Hirschi's social bonding theory, Agnew's general strain theory, and Akers' social learning theory. The data derived from a sample of 2,337 middle school students taken from National Youth Policy Institute in 2011-2012. Multiple OLS regression analysis revealed that variables from social learning theory were strongly supported as an explanation for adolescents' status offenses, while variables from general strain theory were not supported. The social learning model explained 12.0% of the variance in adolescents' status offenses. However, general strain variables explained 2.6% of the variance in the dependant variable and 6.2% of the variance in adolescents' status offenses were explained by the social bonding variables. The present research made important contributions the further utilization of social learning in investigating many of the damaging forms of social deviance which exist in our society.

The mesh selectivity of drum net traps for Buccinum opisoplectum Dall caught in the eastern sea of Korea was described. Several experiments were conducted between July 2003 and March 2004 and the data obtained from the experiment was fitted by SELECT (Share Each Length class's Catch Total) model with unequal fishing and sampling efforts. The selection curve was determined to be 'estimated fishing efficiency' by model deviance rather than AIC. However the fishing efficiency between 20mm and 35mm mesh size did not seem to be different. The $L_{50}$ lengths of the selectivity for the 55mm and 75mm mesh size were 65.4mm and 96.0mm, respectively.
The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of psychosocial protective and risk factors on problem drinking among American adolescents. In addition, this study investigated the compensatory and buffering effects of psychosocial protective factors. The sample consisted 4,362 10th graders taken from the Monitoring the Future Study 2002. This study performed the hierarchical regression analysis for data analyses. The main findings provided that friend influence, sensation-seeking, and tolerance of deviance had significant positive relationships with problem drinking as risk factors. This study also revealed that negative perception on drinking, parental bonding, school bonding, and prosocial activity had significant direct impacts in decreasing problem drinking, which explains the compensatory effect of protective factors. Additionally, this study showed that negative perception on drinking had a significant buffering effect moderating friend influence on adolescents' opportunities exposed to problem drinking. The results of this study suggest some practical implications for preventive intervention programs that target adolescent problem drinking.
The purpose of the study is to explore how parenting attitudes, ego resilience, and care affects adolescents' adjustment to school so as to provide a necessary basic guideline needed to seek various intervention methods. To achieve this end, the study referred to the 2014 Annual Report of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey. By using both SPSS 19.0 and AMOS 19.0, the study yielded the following results. First, the study showed that parenting attitudes, ego resilience, care, and school adjustment all have a positive correlation. Second, by conducting path analysis in order to verify the mediating effect of ego resilience and care with regards to the relationship between parenting attitudes and school adjustment, the direct influence that parenting attitudes had on school adaptation was shown to be relevant. Third, adolescents' ego resilience and care have a partial mediating effect on the relationship between parenting attitudes and school adaptation. Therefore, together with intervention in actual school settings, assessing various factors that would aid the recovery of adolescents' characters and pursuing a positive reinforcement of character by finding protective factors would enable this study to be used as a basic guideline that would prevent adolescents' maladjustment to school and social deviance as well as aid the growth of their characters.
Objectives : A common problem with analyzing survey data involves incomplete data with either a nonresponse or missing data. The mail questionnaire survey conducted for collecting lifestyle variables on the members of the Korean Elderly Phamacoepidemiologic Cohort(KEPEC) in 1996 contains some nonresponse or missing data. The proper statistical method was applied to evaluate the missing pattern of a specific KEPEC data, which had no missing data in the independent variable and missing data in the response variable, BMI. Methods : The number of study subjects was 8,689 elderly people. Initially, the BMI and significant variables that influenced the BMI were categorized. After fitting the log-linear model, the probabilities of the people on each category were estimated. The EM algorithm was implemented using a log-linear model to determine the missing mechanism causing the nonresponse. Results : Age, smoking status, and a preference of spicy hot food were chosen as variables that influenced the BMI. As a result of fitting the nonignorable and ignorable nonresponse log-linear model considering these variables, the difference in the deviance in these two models was 0.0034(df=1). Conclusion : There is a lot of risk if an inference regarding the variables and large samples is made without considering the pattern of missing data. On the basis of these results, the missing data occurring in the BMI is the ignorable nonresponse. Therefore, when analyzing the BMI in KEPEC data, the inference can be made about the data without considering the missing data.
Purpose - This study aimed to identify the effects of ownership structures on agency costs in internationally diversified firms listed on the KOSDAQ market. Design/methodology/approach - A total of 5,824 samples were finally selected and empirically analyzed for a total of nine years from 2011 to 2019, during which the International Accounting Standards had been mandatory for firms listed on the KOSDAQ market. Findings - The results of this study showed that the effects of ownership structures on the ratio of asset turnover are positive for the major share and foreign equity ratios of international diversified firms. Moreover, by selecting the ratio of entertainment expenses as a proxy for agency expenses, this study confirmed that the effects of the ownership structure of an international diversified entity on entertainment expenditure were determined to show a significantly negative relation to entertainment expenditure, thus indicating that the higher the ratio of major shareholders, the more appropriately control the expenditure of entertainment expenses through arbitrary private deviations of the management.Furthermore, considering the effect of the ownership structure on the expenditure of sales and administrative expenses as a proxy variable for agency costs, this study verified that the majority share ratio of international diversified firms was negative to the expenditure of sales and administrative expenses, confirming that the higher the share of major shareholders, the lower the selling and administrative costs, but insignificant. Finally, as a result of determining whether the ownership structure of an international diversified firm affects the holding of free cash, the majority share of this firm shows a significantly negative relation to the ratio of the holding of surplus cash, indicating that the higher the proportion of major shareholders, the more appropriately control the holding of the entity's free cash through arbitrary private deviance by the manager. Research implications or Originality - Major shareholders of an internationally diversified firm listed on the KOSDAQ market play a positive role in the firm's performance by properly controlling agency costs that may be incurred by the management.
