  • This paper presents a new approach to the design of cruise control system of a mobile robot with two drive wheel. The proposed control scheme uses a Gaussian function as a unit function in the fuzzy-neural network, and back propagation algorithm to train the fuzzy-neural network controller in the framework of the specialized learning architecture. It is proposed a learning controller consisting of two neural network-fuzzy based on independent reasoning and a connection net with fixed weights to simply the neural networks-fuzzy. The performance of the proposed controller is shown by performing the computer simulation for trajectory tracking of the speed and azimuth of a mobile robot driven by two independent wheels.

  • Due to the irregularity of walking ground and the inaccuracy in trajectory control of a leg, the mechanical shock and slip on the ground can be caused in the landing and supporting legs of a walkin g robot, and the robot may lose walking stability. Especially in a jointed-leg type walking robot, those problems are much more severe than in the pantograph type since the leg-weight of the jointed-leg type walking robot is relatively heavier than that of the pantograph type in general. In order to secure the walking stability for the jointed-leg type quadrupedal robot under development in KIST(Korea Institute of Science and Technology), a balancing algorithm consisting of the leg compliance control and the body posture control is implemented in this paper, and the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified through experiments.

  • Society is developing fast. Nobody could expect that computer could be used in purpose of trajectory calculation when the ANIAC was developed in the past. However, nowadays technology development brought computerization which substitutes to mankind's working. And personal computer including internet make our society to be IT age. Such age is in revolutionizing now that could be able to bring a new paradigm. We should prepare to such change which scholars predict the end of revolution could be reached at ubiquitous age. This study is purposing firstly for predicting which changes are arisen in the defence sector when social system will become ubiquitous age. That is how change of ubiquitous paradigm could influence to the defence sector and which appearance could be arisen in ubiquitous defence environment. The second purpose of this study is to predict the characteristics of Planing, Programing, Budgeting, Executing, Evaluating, System (PPBEES) of the defence sector.

  • We performed computer simulations to improve transmission efficiencies of a dual ion funnel system implemented on an FT-ICR MS. We found that the low m/z range from 50 to 150 could be significantly improved by operating the two ion funnels at different RF amplitudes. These new operational conditions could be applied to analyze metabolome samples, which require high sensitivity in the m/z range from 50 to 1,000.

  • A new wall impaction model for spray and its assessment are described in this paper. The gas phase is modelled in terms of the Eulerian continuum conservation equations of mass, momentum, energy and fuel vapour fraction. The liquid phase is modelled following the discrete droplet model approach. The droplet parcel contains many thousands of drops assumed to have the same size, temperature and velocity components. The droplet parcel equations of trajectory, momentum, mass and energy are written in Lagrangian form. The new drop-wall interaction model is proposed, which is based on experimental investigations on individual drops, and it is applied for the general non-orthogonal gird. The model is then assessed through comparison with experiments over a wide range of test conditions of sprays. The results are in good agreement with experimental data.

  • A new smooth bore test barrel was developed to be used in sensitivity assessment test for explosives and fragment impact test. The bore diameter of the barrel is 20 mm, and the powder chamber is designed to be replaceable with the 12.7 mm, 20 mm and 30 mm type chamber. The test results showed the wide range of fragment velocity from 400 to 2000 m/s, included the fragment velocity requirement of the fragment impact test(alternate procedure #1) in MIL-STD-2105B. The stability of the bullet trajectory was checked by test shots and the structural safety of the system has been confirmed through the stress analysis and the interior ballistics analysis of the barrel.

Nexus between Inflation, Inflation Perceptions and Expectations

  • We uncover a nexus between actual inflation, inflation perceptions and expectations in Korea through analyzing micro as well as aggregate data from the Consumer Survey. We document two novel findings. First, households' subjective perceptions of inflation exert more impact on expectation formation than actual inflation. Second, inflation perceptions are broadly in line with the trajectory of the inflation trend. This is attributable to the fact that changes in actual inflation have been generated mainly by the consumption items whose price changes are perceived more sensitively as those items are frequently bought or have a larger share in household expenditures. Conducting a cross-country comparison, we find that information rigidity in expectation formation process and the nexus between perceptions and expectations of inflation prove to be stronger in Korea. Additionally, we reconfirm the existing finding that the scope of information utilized for forming inflation expectations is fairly circumscribed.

  • A lane change maneuver is a part of lateral control of an automated highway system. Assuming no direct measurement of its position during transition from one lane to another. A vehicle is controlled to follow the virtual desired trajectory using only on-board sensors. This paper investigates the development of a fuzzy controller for automated lateral control during emergencies. The performance of the fuzzy controller is presented at 20m/s for a step lane change and a double lane change. The robustness of fuzzy controller is investigated with respect to change in tire parameters and the number of passengers.
