This research uses the extended criteria of Resource-based View (RBV): VRIOLU (Valuable, Rare, Inimitable, Organization, Large Market, Unmet Need) to analyze tourism destination competitiveness for the city of Malang. A qualitative approach with a case study research design is adopted in this research. Data was collected using data triangulation, such as an in-depth interview with the informants, direct observation in the form of field notes, and picture documentation. The data was analyzed manually by the researchers using thematic analysis. In this research, VRIOLU, the extended criteria of RBV is proven that it can be used as a tool to analyze tourism destination competitiveness by giving the researchers a framework to get the answers from the informants to achieve the research aim. • In order to enhance the competitiveness of tourism destinations, it is important to manage tourist products considering the characteristics of tourist destinations and the characteristics of tourists. In this study, we divided Seoul's tourism products into four parts (shopping, food, culture, and natural landscape) to explore if there are some direct connections between tourism product involvement, self-congruity, and functional congruity. The other research question is if the degree of tourism product involvement reaches a certain intensity, will the place attachment be generated and the destination satisfaction be fulfilled. The survey was the focus on the international visitors in smart city, Seoul by using the random sampling and convenience sampling and collected 250 data. Finally, we found that destination personality significantly affects both self-congruity and functional congruity. If self-congruity and functional congruity are formed, tourism product involvement will be stimulated which will finally satisfy tourists and arouse their place attachment. The implications of these findings contribute to destination marketers to develop more effective destination management.

  • This study aims to develop new constructs and indicators for sharia destination image, and then examine its effects on perceived value, tourist satisfaction, and post-visit behaviour. Furthermore, it analyses the mediating role of perceived value and tourist satisfaction on relationship between sharia destination image and post-visit behaviour. The population were domestic and Malaysian Muslim tourists who visited Aceh during the study period. The sampling was carried out in two stages. The first stage involved selecting most visited districts. The second stage involved randomly selecting tourists who visit during the study period in the districts. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire with a Likert scale. Also, a total of 270 questionnaires were distributed to domestic and Malaysian tourists in Aceh. Cluster sampling was used to determine the sample area, and purposive sampling technique was used to determine the study sample. Furthermore, the data analysis technique is Structural Equation Modelling. The results showed that the sharia destination image has a significant effect on perceived value. Meanwhile, the perceived value significantly influenced tourist satisfaction and post-visit behaviour. In addition, the perceived value and tourist satisfaction can mediate the effects of sharia destination image, which has no direct effect on post-visit behaviour.

A survey questionnaire has been collected through purposive sampling from 167 Generation Z who have visited Borobudur World Heritage Destination. The research hypotheses were supported by the empirical test using a Structural Equation Model with AMOS. The result concludes that destination brand awareness has significant, positive effects on destination brand image and perception of destination quality; destination brand image has positive influences on perception of destination quality and destination brand loyalty; perception of destination quality has significant, positive impacts on destination brand loyalty. Except for destination brand image and destination brand awareness, the perception of destination quality and destination brand loyalty have positive and direct impacts on overall destination brand equity. • The goal of the information system in tourism, like that of general information systems, is to create users' information needs so that the users continuously revisit the information system and retrieve the information on a regular basis. However, unlike any other information systems, the primary objective of the tourism information system is to attract tourists to the tourist sites rather than to create the users' needs for their future revisits to the information system. The tourism information system is therefore more closely related to tourists' overall tourism destination image towards the tourism destination. In this respect, the evaluation of the tourism information system should be based on tourists' overall tourism destination image towards the sites. This study examines how tourists' overall tourism destination image towards the sites affect the evaluation of the tourism information system. Specifically, I employ the tourism information system provided by Sokcho and Delone and Mclean(2003)'s the Information System Success Model in order to investigate this research question.

  • Tourist destination remodeling project is the tourist destination activation program to promote underdeveloped tourist destination that the Ministry of Culture and Sports has been implementing as a pilot program since 2005. Since previous tourist destination development programs focused on developing facilities, they could not quite cope with the changes in the tourism paradigm. Especially for caves, they could not escape from the simple sightseeing for the characteristics of the resource were fit to the caves. These results failed to meet tourist demands to experience and participate that the number of tourists is continuously decreasing. To cope with the circumstances, the government introduced a pilot program, a comprehensive tourist destination reorganization plan designed to comprehensively promote the tourism contents development (software) that can differentiate the region such as the tourism activation programs, tourist destination management and operation system reorganization (humanware) along with the repair of facilities (hardware project). This study emphasized the participation of residents who are the actual subject of management and operation of tourist facilities and programs in the course of establishing the master plan for remodeling for Gossi Cave that it can be used as the reference for establishing remodeling plan based on resident participation in the future.

  • Personal value and lifestyle have been regarded as the common factors in many studies of the destination selection. And the evaluations by visitors or tourists of certain destinations have been conducted in many respects. Based on those influential factors and measures from the review of the previous researches, this article considers the impact of residents' evaluation of the tourism resources in their own resident area on selecting destinations of their future overseas trips as well as their personal value and lifestyle. This article is aimed to reveal whether the impact exists, and if so, to what extent this impact can expand. According to the result, perception of tourism resources in residential area has impact on preferred destination, although its impact was relatively less than those of personal value and lifestyle. The more highly perceived the tourism resources are found, the more preferred tourist destination with abundant tourism attractions are. And the lowly perceived the cost of living in residential area is found, the more preferred the consumption-oriented tourist destinations are. It would be helpful for the product developers like travel agents or product marketers to know and predict the tendency of people s present evaluation of their areas and the future destination selection tendency for their trips.

  • Both knowledge management and BSC practices are in its inception in the tourism field, and the study explores the relationships between knowledge and BSC perspectives using correlations and path analysis. The purpose of this study was to explore the casual relationships among tourist destination knowledge and BSC performance perspectives. The study model added knowledge perspectives to the usual BSC model (with customer, growth and learning, internal process, and financial perspectives), in addition to the modification of the financial perspectives to economic, socio-cultual and physical impact. The study found out that knowledge supports learning and growth perspectives greatly, and less extent, internal processes and customer perspectives. Learning and growth affects internal processes and customer perspectives. Internal process supports customer perspectives. Both customer and, less extent, internal process have impact on the final results. The final analysis results were different by destination type. The study concludes with recommendations for further studies including rational BSC model for tourist destinations and relationships between BSC performance indicators.

  • In recent years, UNWTO and academics have called for the development of responsible, sustainable, and universally accessible tourism to promote equal human rights and social inclusion. Prior studies have also revealed the potential and value of smart technologies in reducing, if not removing, barriers to people with access requirements during travel and in their everyday lives. However, a guiding framework of how smart technologies assist in building an accessible destination is still absent, thereby hindering the progress of building accessible tourism. This paper aims to fill this knowledge gap. A conceptual model of smart accessible destination (SAD) was proposed drawing from the intersection of accessible tourism and smart tourism. With the guidance of this conceptual model, tourism destinations and stakeholders can recognize and utilize the synergies of accessible and smart tourism to enhance the social inclusion, competitiveness, and sustainability of a destination.
