A Stduy on Learning Model for Effective Coding Education (효과적인 코딩교육을 위한 학습 모델에 대한 연구)

  • With our society entering the Fourth Industrial Revolution, there has been heightened interest in coding education, which has led to an increased number of coding classes offered in schools. Once catered to degree holders only, coding courses are now being offered as liberal arts courses to even non-majors. As the importance of computing abilities and creativity-oriented education through software learning becomes increasingly pronounced, the need for research on effective coding learning is growing more urgent. The present study sought an effective coding education model that would encourage and enhance learners' participation and interest in coding. The proposed learning model is designed to invoke learner's recognition of various coding grammars and data search in the process of designing and performing their own unique project. Application of the proposed learning model and analysis of such case studies showed improvement in learning outcomes. One can expect improved performance among learners if the proposed learning model is applied to various coding courses.

  • In this paper, we aim to draw up an alternative instruction scheme by designing a web based instruction model on mathematics. Some learning materials are developed according to the scheme, and its educational effects are examined when it is committed to through regular curriculum. The study is composed of three major parts; setting of the theoretical foundation on cultivating Web based educational materials, design and composition of Web based teaching-learning model, and its experiments in the regular class. First of all, we are concerned with the core principles on WBI including the learning theories, developing learner oriented instruction model, design as well as build-up process for education materials, and strategy in instruction. Next, we propose an alternative instruction model for mathematics, in which programs to embody mathematics education and instruction on the Web are constructed, on the while, the study is proceeded through the Web Site. Finally, we design and produce a WBI instruction model on the subject of the plane quadratic curves. This model is examined in the regular class to estimate its educational effects compared with traditional teaching standpoints. Concomitantly, we explore essential elements and the direction of future growth associated with the Web oriented education.

  • Our society is endemic in safety insensitivity, yet we have been concerned for safety education and disaster drill since the Sewol Ferry accident. However, the practical training costs very high, and it has its limit to increase reality. Recently, industry fields put emphasis on virtual reality (VR) as alternatives, so various contents are invented by using advantages of VR. The paper explores crucial application in 3-dimensional simulation for fire drill, suggests novel design, and contemplates about educative result through designing process. In order to construct and materialize the suggested system, practical 3D spatial information model and various disaster-drill scenarios are necessary. Also, to apply game elements for augmentation in users' utility, educations based on computer science and visual art are inevitable, which requires skills in programing and modeling respectively. Thus, this study investigates educational effect of convergence field through the suggested system designing process.

Variables influencing older people's participation in exercise - Based on Transtheorethical Model (TM) -

  • The purpose of this study is to identify differences in processes of change, decision making, and self-efficacy by exercise behavioral stages and determine variables significantly affecting the older people's participation in exercises. The subjects of this study included 299 people aged 65 or over who were residents of G and S districts in Busan Metropolitan City. They were selected through purposive quota sampling at colleges and centers for old people and homes in order that they could be evenly distributed over stages of pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action and maintenance. Data were analyzed using descriptive, ANOVA, Logistic Regression. Variables that discriminate between participants and non-participants in exercise include self-reevaluation, reinforcing management, cons and self-efficacy. Thus if variables that discriminate between participant and non-participation in exercise such as self-reevaluation, reinforcing management, cons and self-efficacy are fully considered in designing nursing interventions for inducing old people to become exercise participants, it would provide guidelines for nursing intervention programs as appropriate for the people's exercise stages.   • The object of this study is to provide easily-understandable mathematics class to highschool students, who usually take no interest in mathematics, by apply teaching strategy based on storytelling to real lessons. The approaching methods for the mathematics education are emphasizing the mathematical education during making storytelling-studying plans, inducing the interest of the students by applying the mathematical situations in the story. The effects of the storytelling such as induction of the interest, persistency, perception of the practicality, smooth communication between teachers and students coincides with the way national mathematical education orients. This study contains the definition of the storytelling based on education, and applicability to the students, and application to the real lessons, and verification of the effects by focus-group interview with the students and observing teachers. I made the lesson plan based on storytelling for achievements to the object of the highschool mathematical study, and searched the best way to apply the lesson plan to the real lessons. I studied designing lesson strategy based on dissertations and books and reports directly related this study, and did focus-group interview to find advantages and disadvantages of the strategy. And finally I could make the well-applicable lesson plan.

Development of STEAM Instructional Materials using Arduino for Creative Engineering Design Class in High Schools and Its Application (일반계고의 창의공학설계 수업을 위한 아두이노 기반 STEAM 수업자료 개발과 적용)

  • The purpose of the study was to develop the Arduino based STEAM instruction materials for creative engineering design class. PDIE model was used in this study. We developed a STEAM lesson plan and a STEAM lesson worksheet for a total of six sessions through the steps of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation. The validity of the instruction materials was evaluated by the 10 experts using a survey. The instruction materials were applied to the class (52 students attended) of the creative engineering designs unit in technology and home economics subject. The class satisfaction and the creative solving-problem ability were examined after the calss. The class satafacition was high as the average of 10 item was 4.57 (out of 5). The paired t-test was conducted to compare the means of the creative solving-problem ability. It was observed that 'understanding and mastery of knowledge, thought, function and skills in a specific domain', 'divergent thinking', 'critical and logical thinking' and ' motivational factors' were significantly increased after the class. The instruction materials develped in this study were successfully designed to enhance the creative solving-problem ability by designing creative tasks and to intrique the interest by adding visual and auditory stimuli with the Arduino.

Board Game Design for Disaster Safety Education for Elementary School Students Based on Learning Motivation Theory (학습동기이론 기반의 초등학생 재난안전 교육을 위한 보드게임 설계)

  • In order to improve safety consciousness due to the increase in disasters and safety accidents, safety education is necessary to prepare for disasters with interest in safety. This study is a board game design for disaster safety education for elementary school students based on Keller's learning motivation theory. By considering the school safety curriculum and the safety education contents of the School Safety Mutual Aid Association and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the content and goals of learning were derived and the order of learning was determined. When designing game content, the fun elements of the game were applied to Keller's learning motivation inducing factors such as attention concentration (A), relevance (R), confidence (C), satisfaction (S), and educational game design elements to induce the achievement of learning goals at the game planning stage. It is expected that the existing safety education focusing on lecture-style and audiovisual will be supplemented and used in the educational field.

A Study on the VPBL Model for SW Liberal Education (SW 교양 교육을 위한 VPBL 모델에 관한 연구)

  • This paper studies VPBL(Various PBL) models, applies them to classes, and analyzes results so that students of various majors can design and implement problems according to the characteristics of their majors in order to improve problem solving in education. VPBL performs the process of designing and implementing problems that reflect the characteristics of the major by applying constraints to the professor's programming language. The professor performs mini_class in the process of solving the designed problem and then shares it throughout. VPBL model apply results, The traditional teaching method was 3.51 points and the application of the VPBL model was 4.52 points, and "interaction, understanding of learning contents, and acquiring knowledge related to curriculum" were improved. In addition, VPBL has the advantage of expanding the learning range in the solving process as it is based on various problem solving, which has the effect of expanding the learning range compared to existing class models. Research on the expanded application of various SW liberal education in the future is required.

Conformity Assessment of Machine Learning Algorithm for Particulate Matter Prediction (미세먼지 예측을 위한 기계 학습 알고리즘의 적합성 평가)

  • Due to the human influence of particulate matter, various studies are being conducted to predict it using past data measured in the atmospheric environment monitoring network. However, it is difficult to precisely set the measurement environment and detailed conditions of the previously designed predictive model, and it is necessary to design a new predictive model based on the existing research results because of the problems such as the missing of the weather data. In this paper, as a previous study for particulate matter prediction, the conformity of the algorithm for particulate matter prediction was evaluated by designing the prediction model through the multiple linear regression and the artificial neural network, which are machine learning algorithms. As a result of the prediction performance comparison through RMSE, 18.13 for the MLR model and 14.31 for the MLP model, and the artificial neural network model was more conformable for predicting the particulate matter concentration.

Aircraft delivery vehicle with fuzzy time window for improving search algorithm

  • Drones are increasingly used in logistics delivery due to their low cost, high-speed and straight-line flight. Considering the small cargo capacity, limited endurance and other factors, this paper optimized the pickup and delivery vehicle routing problem with time windows in the mode of "truck+drone". A mixed integer programming model with the objective of minimizing transportation cost was proposed and an improved adaptive large neighborhood search algorithm is designed to solve the problem. In this algorithm, the performance of the algorithm is improved by designing various efficient destroy operators and repair operators based on the characteristics of the model and introducing a simulated annealing strategy to avoid falling into local optimum solutions. The effectiveness of the model and the algorithm is verified through the numerical experiments, and the impact of the "truck+drone" on the route cost is analyzed, the result of this study provides a decision basis for the route planning of "truck+drone" mode delivery.
