The existing design materials by document type are restricted in searching and acquiring necessary design information because the materials consist of huge information and various document types. This study suggests a methodology to develop an electronic technical manual that can manage construction design materials by XML-base integrated information system. Electronic technical manual for design materials can provide visualized information through various multimedia tools such as multi-link, virtual reality and animation. Using an integrated electronic manual for construction project can prevent to miss necessary design information. The results of this study includes a data flow diagram to develop an interactive electronic technical manual (IETM) for construction design information. Finally the study suggests some scenarios for practical use and quantitative analysis of application effect analysis by AHP method.

This document illustrates the relationship between the wire rod wrinkle defect and the roll caliber design. The wrinkle defect is caused by the incongruent rolling conditions of the roll caliber design, the roll adjustment, and the extracting temperature. In this document, we restrict the study scope to the roll caliber design's effect on wrinkle defect at the base of real condition of the No.2 Wire Rod mill, POSCO. There has been wrinkle defect problem in the No.2 Wire Rod Mill, POSCO for many years. The engineers of the wire rod mill have been making efforts to solve the problem. As one of the efforts, we take the samples of the wire rod in the each stands of the 2'nd wire rod mill and then analyze the samples. Through the analysis, we find out the problem of the roll caliber design. So, we suggest the roll caliber design method to be more effective to weaken the wrinkle defect.

One of the most important functions digital libraries need to offer is to help users find necessary information in a distributed environment in the most efficient and effective manner. In order to meet the goal, it is desirable to link scattered pieces of information and present them as a logically coherent whole when the user wants it, so that he or she doesn't need to know their physical location. The virtual document is an integrated document that the total or part of the physical documents stored in a specific repository are linked dynamically. Our MIRAGE-III digital library system provides a content-based retrieval of physical documents and the virtual documents in XML. This system provides a retrieval of partial documents, attributes and hierarchical structures and linked-documents based in structured documents like XML or SGML. In this paper we describe a methodology of design and implementation of the query processor and retrieval server in the MIRAGE-III digital library system.

XML has an essential funtion of dealing with standardized document to be used in all academic areas and industrial areas as well as e-commerce. The transformation of XML data into Relation Database table is also necessary for data search using SQL language. Mapping relation between XMLand Table in Relation Database is required for transformation of XML. In this paper. we define relationship and constrain renditions that exist between Web site's HTML documents. And we design and implement HIMS(HTML Document Integrity Management System), which notify user that integrity violation happens or launch trigger operation to keep integrity between HTML documents in case of insert, delete, update.

The knowledge of the specialized fields has been changed rapidly in the both side of quantity and quality. A hyper media as a knowledge based system is so fixed in the linked media in mutual that we couldn't tell it information provision with the view of users. In this paper, we propose the way of offering intellectual and flexible information which is the same with demand in the side of user, selecting, searching and composing the hypertext at the point of user's view through the design of knowledge media system. Three concepts are used in order to challenge the knowledge media system : special document, agent system and ontology. The special document is a ensure that its activities are coordinated with those of the others within the community, providing a uniform control mechanism. Finally, ontology is a language for exchanging knowledgement, which is a message exchanged among agents to ensure the proper interaction among them. The combination of these three concepts is used to design the prototype of knowledge media system.

As our society turns into the information age we ate witnessing increased productivity by employing electronic document management replacing the traditional paper-based document management and by various application programs using the intranet technology This paper describes design and implementation of an electronic document management system in intranet environment. The user and general administration systems made use of Internet Explorer 4.0 and the related technology therefore it solved the problems of client systems, which were largely dependent on hardware platform. The server and the scan station systems, which require proprietary device driver, were implemented client/server system based on TCP/IP. The jukebox system managing storage of vast amount of data was built by API supporting standard SCSI-ll. The GUI of the jukebox module was employed Motif to enhance the compatibility and ease of use.

A new operation strategy. which can guarantee the data consistency of engineering information among the various intelligent information systems, is presented for engineering information of bridges, and construction methodology of integrated database is developed to support the strategy. The two core standard techniques are adopted to construct the integrated database. One is the Standard for the Exchange of Product Model Data (STEP) for CAD/CAE information and the other is the Extensible Markup Language(XML) for engineering document information. The former enabler structural engineers to handle the structural details with three-dimensional geometry-based information of bridges, and ACIS solid modeling kernel is employed to develop AutoCAD based application modules. The latter can make document files into data type for web-based application modules which assist end-users to search and retrieve engineering document data. In addition, relaying algorithm is developed to integrate the two different information, e.g. CAD/CAE information and engineering document information. The pilot application modules are also developed, and a case study subjected to the Han-Nam bridge is presented at the end of the paper to illustrate the use of the developed application modules.

This paper describes the design and implementation of ODA document formatter with the capability of interchange for the structured multimedia document information between heterogeneous systems. We designed the formatter generating the specific layout structure by the generic about structure and establishing relationship between specific logical/layout structure by interaction of user. For it, we proposed backtracking mechanism and processing rules of layout directive. Especially, we implemented and interactive method as user interface for ease creation of a document due to show user transparently complicated internal of structure.

The basic goal of CALS is to improve transactions and relationships among organizations through information sharing and integration. CALS is an information strategy which needs strong cooperation between organizations or between users and developers in design step. However, current design methodologies using IDEF models, that are considered to be standard for CALS system development, has some limitations. For example, it is difficult for system developers to communicate with counterparts by IDEF model since IDEF models are difficult for counterparts to understand. In this paper, we suggest a development methodology for GALS systems by complementing IDEF model with Document Trace Diagram, which we developed as a communication tool, The concept of Document Trace Diagram stems from the fact that most information exchanged within or between organizations is in the form of documents and most standard operating procedures of organizations are about processing the documents. It helps system developers identify functions and their ICOMs (Input, Control, Output, Mechanism) with ease and little communication cost. With this methodology, we have constructed the GALS prototype system for construction industry.
