  • This paper presents information about the examples of the design on Illumination of Structures(LED Light Pipe for lighthouse) in Korea. We have applied illumination by flood-lighting or facade-lighting in place of the 57 lighthouses (offshore structures) and 4 beacons. The ways of illumination of structures are using direct illumination with LED, halogen lamps and metal halide lamps, and indirect illumination with LED non-neon lamps. The illumination of structures helps a observer to identify the Aids to Navigation and w aterway. The fabricated LED Light Pipe is a transparent acrylic round bar and easy to install. The Light Pipe is arranged in two rows of L ED (78ea). It can be connected in series. It has 4 colours(Red, Green, Yellow, White). We analyzed and the horizontal divergence angle of the LED light pipe is defined as the range with 50% of maximum luminous intensity. Also, we evaluated the conspicuity on the origin al lantern and LED Light pipe for lighthouse. The field experiment was conducted in 'Yeosuguhang lighthouse' in Yeosu-city (Korea). F rom the experimental results, it was confirmed that the fabricated LED Light Pipe is clearly distinguished.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze problems of KS measurement of the wheelchair and a pair of crutches and to propose proper measurements of the wheelchair and a pair of crutches for the posteriori handicapped. Research method is as following ; First, it is compared that Anthropometry of Korean and Japanese adults relevance with design measurement of the wheelchair and a pair of crutches. Second, we compared measurements of KS wheelchairs with measurements of the wheelchair manufactured by the T aids company and the D aids company, and then compared and analyzed differences of measurements about each part of the wheelchair. Third, we compared measurements of a pair of crutches of an fixed and an elastic type with anthropometry and analysis. The result, measurements of KS wheelchair and KS a pair of crutches shows unsuitable to Korean adults. It may cause handicapped. We proposed measurements of the aids(the wheelchair and a pair of crutches) proper to the handicapped of Korean adults with improvement of these problems.

  • This paper presents digital hearing aids signal processing system in WT(wavelet transform) domain. For implementation of hearing aids in WT domain, the gain in frequency domain is approximated in WT domain. We also present the gain selection algorithm to deal with the change of input signal power. Most transform methods produce blocking effect, and this effect degrades the convergence rate of feedback canceller. As a solution, we proposed wavelet transform bascd feedback canceller. To evaluate the performance, we compared it with LOT (lapped orthogonal transform) method in the frequency domain. This system has not shown the blocking effect, and improves convergence rate as compared with the LOT based feedback canceller.

  • In this paper, we presented WT(wavelet transform) domain feedback canceller in hearing aids system. Most transform methods produce blocking effect and this effect degrades the performance of feedback canceller and overall hearing aids system. As a solution we proposed WT based feedback canceller. The performance of this new approach was compared with LOT (lapped orthogonal transform) based method in the frequency domain. As a result, WT based feedback canceller has not shown the blocking effect and improved convergence rate as compared with the LOT based feedback canceller.

  • Aids to Navigation is one of the most important facility for safety at sea. However, in terms of position there always exists discrepancy in inventory by media and/or organizational body who maintains the facility which may result in incredibility for navigator's position fixing or hazard avoidance. This paper suggests two major factors as the causes of the position error when they design, install and survey the aids to navigation. One is the function of direction of tide and water depth which makes swinging circle. The other is a variable value by time resulting from multiple coordination of satellites in contact. This paper aims to minimize inaccuracy by verifying its reason through numerical analysis over inherent position error.

  • As AIS AtoN has worked an essential role for aids to navigation, the World-wide IALA-Net has announced plans to build the system. Systematic beacon network may offer opportunities to make an infrastructure for information service and upgrade AtoN service performance. This paper proposes Aids to Navigation information service network for e-NAV. Network based on AIS is consist of AIS AtoN channels as Real, Synthetic or Virtual AIS AtoN. And inner network is consist of Wireless networks as AIS, WCDMA, WIFI, WIBRO, USN or VSAT. Introducing of various network systems can lead to combine and design aomong land, beacon and service network infrastructures.

  • The AtoN are installed and operated on the sea in order to help the safe navigation of ships. With the development of maritime ICT, to monitor and control the condition of AtoN from land using multiplex communication network such as AtoN AIS, CDMA, and LTE. Currently, The information of AtoN is difficult to integrated manage because AtoN management systems has been independently developed and operatie according to the operating conditions of the Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries. In addition, in preparation for the introduction for e-navigation and MASS, systematic and unified information of AtoN is required. In this paper, we study to design and develop standard software for AtoN management system based on the international standard for navigation information(S-201). Through this study, it will be possible to provide continuous AtoN information and effective AtoN management.

  • In this study, we aimed to propose enhancements to the dimensions and design of walking aids tailored for elderly women. Specifically, we focused on wheeled walking assistance devices and aligned each structural component with the appropriate human body dimensions to suggest appropriate product dimensions organized by size clusters, aiming to maximize the practicality of the results. We extracted essential factors required for product design, including human body size elements. The dimension extraction method was clustered to establish connections between key human body parameters-such as height, weight, and age groups-and product dimensions. We conducted a comparative analysis of walking aid product dimensions according to the design elements and sizes of models currently available in the market. The outcomes of this study offer objective, data-driven insights into areas where existing models on the market could benefit from improvement and we anticipate that the findings of this study will provide a solid, quantitative foundation for individuals when selecting the most suitable model for their needs.

  • Nowadays we needs the ship design ability strongly for our shipbuilding industry to attain the 2nd position among the competitive world marine industries. But we have short experience in ship design, so several ship design terminologies are used without clear understandings. Here, papers on ship design procedure and design methodology are summarized with some investigation about our present status. In addition, the state arts and new developments of Computer Aided ship Design in advanced ship building countries are treated. It is hoped that we-ship designers of our country-do have common understandings about the ship design terminologies.

  • During the last decade, several Electronic Orientation Aids devices have been proposed to solve the autonomy problems of visually impaired people. When hearing is considered the primary sense for Visually Impaired people (VI) and it is generally loaded with the environment, the use of tactile sense can be considered a solution to transmit directional information. This paper presents a new wearable haptic system based on four motors implemented in shoes, while six directions can be played. This study aims to introduce an interface design and investigate an appropriate means of spatial information delivery through haptic sense. The first experiment of the proposed system was performed with 15 users in an indoor environment. The results showed that the users were able to recognize, with high accuracy, the directions displayed on their feet. The second experiment was conducted in an outdoor environment with five blindfolded users who were guided along 120 meters. The users, guided only by the haptic system, successfully reached their destinations. The potential of tactile-foot stimulation to help VI understand Electronic Orientation Aids (EOA) instructions was discussed, and future challenges were defined.
