  • The interactions between two-dimensional and three-dimensional stimulus configurations on visually induced self-motion perception (vection) were examined. The experiment revealed that there is no 2D-3D interaction, and vection strength is determined solely by the size of the moving background stimulus, which should be a primary factor in inducing vection.

  • Recently, 3DTV and 3D displays have been released in the market. Accordingly, the production of stereoscopic images has gained much interest. Stereoscopic image being composed of left and right images are currently delivered to viewers without any modifications. The researches on the enhancement of depth perception using high-frequency components and the re-production of natural color by color compensation have been carried out for 2D images. The application of such 2D technologies to 3D stereoscopic images is an aim of this paper. This paper proposes the enhancement of 3D perception by color transformation. For this, we propose a stereo matching method for obtaining a depth map and two color transformation methods such as contrast transformation and background darkening. The effectiveness of the proposed method was verified through experiments.

  • Background: Engaging and Involving stakeholders who have different interests in changing health care policies are difficult task. As the literature on the governance in Korean health care field is rare, this study aims to provide empirical evidence of 'governing health policy'-the ways health care policy is made, implemented, and evaluated from a political perspective. Methods: The authors of this study conducted interviews with elites in policy and clinical areas, which was considered to be the most effective approach to gather in-depth information about the background of changing payment policy as well as the barriers or contributors for making the policy sustainable. A total of 14 experts (3 government officials, 2 representatives from medical profession, 3 professors form academic field, and 6 healthcare providers from New DRG pilot program hospitals) participated in 2 hour long interviews. Results: There was a perception gap of the feasibility and substantiality of new payment system among elites. The score was higher in government officers than those in scholars or clinical experts. Next, the interviewees indicated that Korean New DRG might not sustain without significant efforts to improving democratic aspects of the governance. It is also notable that all interviewees except healthcare providers provided negative expectation of the contribution of new payment system to increase administration efficiency. For clinical efficiency, every stakeholders perceived there was no increased efficiency after introduction of New DRG payment. Like general perception, there was a wide gap between the perception of stakeholders in quality change after implementing the new payment system. Finally, interview participants negatively assumed about the likelihood of New DRG to remain a case of successful reforms. Conclusion: This study implied the importance of social consensus and the governance of health policy.

  • This study investigated the effects of several factors - stimulus color, background color, and predicted depth - that affect depth perception in stereoscopic displays. For this study, two experiments were conducted; in the first experiment, the subjects were asked to indicate the depth perceived from presented image(rectangle) using matching mark, and in the second experiment, the subjects were asked to adjust one image(controllable rectangle) to have the same perceived depth as the other image(fixed rectangle) using keyboard. The depth perceived under various combination of levels of these factors was compared with depth predicted by the geometry of streopsis. Through two experiments, we found that stimulus color, predicted depth, and interaction between stimulus color and background color affected perceived depth significantly, and that red was perceived to be closest to the observer followed by yellow, green, and then blue.

  • This research is to classify psychological risk perceptions in purchases process at counterfeit at fashion luxury brands, into a risk perception on purchase activity itself and a risk perception on the post-purchase situation, and to analyze types and characteristics at risk reduction behaviors to reduce each risk perception. In this research a qualitative method was employed, and research-related data were collected and analyzed through in-depth interviews. Results were shown that risk reduction behaviors at psychological risk perception on purchase activity itself included rationalization of purchase, accompanied purchase, reduction and discontinuance of purchase, and that risk reduction behaviors of psychological risk perception on the post-purchase situation included information search, establishment of selection criteria, establishment of marginal limit, selective purchase, planned and compared purchase, and reduction and discontinuance of purchase. Previous researches suggested brand loyalty, selection of famous brands, utilization of information agents by marketers, pre-purchase usage and guaranteed purchase, but these risk reduction methods were not utilized, this probably being interpreted as a result of characteristics of counterfeit. In addition, risk reduction behavior of one type tended to reduce risk perception of several other types, and risk reduction behaviors of various types were utilized to reduce a certain type's risk perception. Not only types of risk perception but also levels of risk perception appeared to have exerted influence to risk reduction behaviors.

  • Direct volume rendering is a widely used method for visualizing three-dimensional volume data such as medical images. This paper proposes a method for applying depth-of-field effects to volume ray-casting to enable more realistic depth-of-filed rendering in direct volume rendering. The proposed method exploits a camera model based on the human perceptual model and can obtain realistic images with a limited number of rays using jittered lens sampling. It also enables interactive exploration of volume data by on-the-fly calculating depth-of-field in the GPU pipeline without preprocessing. In the experiment with various data including medical images, we demonstrated that depth-of-field images with better depth perception were generated 2.6 to 4 times faster than the conventional method.

  • Purpose: To develop Pregnancy Risk symptom Perception Scale (PRPS) and evaluate its validity and reliability. Methods: A preliminary 30-item version of PRPS was developed through literature review, in-depth interview, and Content Validity. Each item was scored on a four-point Likert scale. The preliminary scale was developed based on 301 pregnant women who visited a hospital. Date were analyzed using item analysis, factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ (0.90 for total item, 0.80 to 0.88 for factors). Results: The PRPS consisted of 27 items. Three factors (physical, environmental, and emotional factors) explained 55% of the total variance. Cronbach's Criterion validity was supported by comparison with the Perception of Pregnancy Risk Questionnaire (r=0.34). In reliability test, the reliability coefficient of pregnancy risk symptom perception was high at 0.90. Conclusion: These results suggest that the pregnancy risk symptom perception scale developed in this study comprises items that can assess the level of pregnant women's pregnancy risk symptom perception in Korea. Its validity and reliability were proven. PRPS can be utilized to measure pregnant women's risk symptom perception during pregnancy. PRPS will contribute to the development of systematic prenatal care and effective risk management.

  • This paper presents a 3D stereoscopic TIP (Tour Into Picture) for Korean classical paintings being composed of persons, boat, and landscape. Unlike conventional TIP methods providing 2D image or video, our proposed TIP can provide users with 3D stereoscopic contents. Navigating a picture with stereoscopic viewing can deliver more realistic and immersive perception. The method firstly makes input data being composed of foreground mask, background image, and depth map. The second step is to navigate the picture and to obtain rendered images by orthographic or perspective projection. Then, two depth enhancement schemes such as depth template and Laws depth are utilized in order to reduce a cardboard effect and thus to enhance 3D perceived depth of the foreground objects. In experiments, the proposed method was tested on 'Danopungjun' and 'Muyigido' that are famous paintings made in Chosun Dynasty. The stereoscopic animation was proved to deliver new 3D perception compared with 2D video.
