This research proposed the domain division depth map quantization for multiview intermediate image generation using Depth Image-Based Rendering (DIBR). This technique used per-pixel depth quantization according to the percentage of depth bits assigned in domains of depth range. A comparative experiment was conducted to investigate the potential benefits of the proposed method against the linear depth quantization on DIBR multiview intermediate image generation. The experiment evaluated three quantization methods with computer-generated 3D scenes, which consisted of various scene complexities and backgrounds, under varying the depth resolution. The results showed that the proposed domain division depth quantization method outperformed the linear method on the 7- bit or lower depth map, especially in the scene with the large object.
Migration velocity analysis (MVA) for creating optimum depth-domain velocities in seismic imaging was applied to marine long-offset multi-channel data, and the effectiveness of the MVA approach was demonstrated by the combinations of conventional data processing procedures. The time-domain images generated by conventional time-processing scheme has been considered to be sufficient so far for the seismic stratigraphic interpretation. However, when the purpose of the seismic imaging moves to the hydrocarbon exploration, especially in the geologic modeling of the oil and gas play or lead area, drilling prognosis, in-place hydrocarbon volume estimation, the seismic images should be converted into depth domain or depth processing should be applied in the processing phase. CMP-based velocity analysis, which is mainly based on several approximations in the data domain, inherently contains errors and thus has high uncertainties. On the other hand, the MVA provides efficient and somewhat real-scale (in depth) images even if there are no logging data available. In this study, marine long-offset multi-channel seismic data were optimally processed in time domain to establish the most qualified dataset for the usage of the iterative MVA. Then, the depth-domain velocity profile was updated several times and the final velocity-in-depth was used for generating depth images (CRP gather and stack) and compared with the images obtained from the velocity-in-time. From the results, we were able to confirm the depth-domain results are more reasonable than the time-domain results. The spurious local minima, which can be occurred during the implementation of full waveform inversion, can be reduced when the result of MVA is used as an initial velocity model.

Optical coherence tomography(OCT) can provide real-time and non-invasive subsurface imaging with ultra-high resolution of micrometer scale. However, conventional OCT systems generally have a limited imaging depth range within a depth of only 1-2 mm. To overcome the limitation, we have proposed an active surface tracking algorithm used in common-path Fourier-domain OCT system in order to extend the imaging depth range. The surface tracking algorithm based on the threshold and Savitzky-Golay filter of A-scan data was applied to real-time tracking. The algorithm has controlled a moving stage according to the sample's surface variance in real time. An OCT image obtained by the algorithm clearly show an extended imaging depth range. Consequently, the proposed algorithm demonstrated the potential for improving the conventional OCT systems with limitary depth range.
Installing floating structures in a coastal area requires careful observation of the finite-depth effect. In this paper, a Rankine panel method that includes the finite-depth effect is developed in the time domain. The bottom boundary condition is satisfied by directly distributing Rankine panels on the bottom surface. A stepwise analysis is performed for the radiation diffraction problems and consequently freely-floating motion responses over different water depths. The hydrodynamic properties of two test hulls, a Series 60 and a floating barge, are compared to the results from another computation program for validation purposes. The results for both hulls change remarkably as the water depth becomes shallower. The important features of the results are addressed and the effects of a finite depth are discussed.

DIBR (Depth Image Based Rendering) is a multimedia technology that generates the virtual multi-view images using a color image and a depth image, and it is used for creating glasses-less 3-dimensional display contents. This research describes the effect of depth accuracy about the objective quality of DIBR-based multi-view images. It first evaluated the minimum depth quantization bit that enables the minimum distortion so that people cannot recognize the quality degradation. It then presented the comparative analysis of non-uniform domain-division quantization versus regular linear quantization to find out how effectively express the accuracy of the depth information in same quantization levels according to scene properties.

An accurate evaluation of three-dimensional (3D) Time-Domain Green Function (TDGF) in infinite water depth is essential for ship's hydrodynamic analysis. Various numerical algorithms based on the TDGF properties are considered, including the ascending series expansion at small time parameter, the asymptotic expansion at large time parameter and the Taylor series expansion combines with ordinary differential equation for the time domain analysis. An efficient method (referred as "Present Method") for a better accuracy evaluation of TDGF has been proposed. The numerical results generated from precise integration method and analytical solution of Shan et al. (2019) revealed that the "Present method" provides a better solution in the computational domain. The comparison of the heave hydrodynamic coefficients in solving the radiation problem of a hemisphere at zero speed between the "Present method" and the analytical solutions proposed by Hulme (1982) showed that the difference of result is small, less than 3%.

As the usage of digital image contents increase, a security problem for the payed image data or the ones requiring confidentiality is raised. This paper propose a depth-map image contents encryption methodology to hide the depth information. This method is performed on the frequency coefficients in the Wavelet domain. This method, by selecting the level and threshold value for the wavelet transform, encryption at various strengths are possible. The experimental results showed that encrypting only 0.048% of the entire data was enough to hide the constants of the depth-map. The encryption algorithm expected to be used effectively on the researches on encryption and others for image processing.
In this paper, we propose a deep learning framework for predicting a depth map of a 360° panorama image. Previous works use synthetic 360° panorama datasets to train networks due to the lack of realistic datasets. However, the synthetic nature of the datasets induces features extracted by the networks to differ from those of real 360° panorama images, which inevitably leads previous methods to fail in depth prediction of real 360° panorama images. To address this gap, we use domain adaptation to learn features shared by real and synthetic panorama images. Experimental results show that our approach can greatly improve the accuracy of depth estimation on real panorama images while achieving the state-of-the-art performance on synthetic images.

Increasing of depth data accessibility, depth data is used in many researches. Motion recognition of computer vision also widely use depth image. More accuracy motion recognition system needs more stable depth data. But depth sensor has a noise. This noise affect accuracy of the motion recognition system, we should noise suppression. In this paper, we propose using spatial domain and temporal domain stabilization for depth image and makes it hardware IP. We adapted our hardware to floor removing algorithm and verification its effect. we did realtime verification using FPGA and APU. Designed hardware has maximum frequency 202.184MHz.

In this paper, ultrasonic images of 25MHz bandwidth were acquired by applying peak value variation, time average and depth profile algorithm to acoustic microscopy and its performance was compared and analysed with each other. In the time average algorithm, total reflecting pulse wave from a spot on the coin was converted to digital data in time domain and average value of the converted 512 data was calculated in computer. Time average image was displayed by gray levels colour of acquired N x N matrix average data in the scanning area on the sample. This technique having smoothing effects in time domain make developed an ultrasonic image on a highly scattering area. In depth profile technique, time difference between the reference and the reflected signal was detected with minimum resolution performance of 2ns, thus we can acquired real 3 dimensional shape of the scanning area in accordance with relative magnitude. Through these experiments, peak value, time average and depth profile images were analysed and advantages of each algorithm were proposed.
