  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between oral health factors and suicidal ideation in adolescents in order to provide basic data for adolescent suicide prevention and oral health promotion. Methods: This study used data from the Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey held in 2017, in which a total of 62,276 youth participated. Data were analyzed by SPSS Ver. 22.0. Complex logistic regression analysis was used to analyze oral health factors related to suicidal ideation. Results: The effects of oral health on male students' suicidal ideation were as follows: brushing teeth 2-3 times a day was associated with decreased suicidal ideation (p<0.01), while suicidal ideation was increased in individuals who had experienced scaling within the past year (p<0.001), or, among experiences of oral disease within the last year, had reported prickling and throbbing pain (p<0.001), pain on the tongue and inside the cheeks (p<0.001), or bad breath (p<0.001). The effects of oral health on female students' suicidal ideation were as follows: brushing teeth 2-3 times a day was associated with decreased suicidal ideation (p<0.001), while suicidal ideation was increased in individuals who, among experiences of oral disease within the last year, had reported pain when chewing (p<0.001), pain on the tongue and inside the cheeks (p<0.01), or bad breath (p<0.001). Conclusions: The above results demonstrate that adolescent suicidal ideation and oral health factors are correlated, and it will be necessary to incorporate oral health interventions when planning or developing projects and programs for suicide prevention in adolescents.

There are various kinds of vectormedical clothing. Contaminated clothing of a hospital staff can be a vector of nosocomial infecton. actual case of nosocomial infecton caused by contaminated medical clothing, nursing students were measuring contamination levels of uniforms and pathogenic microorganism wdetected in front of the uniform and pocket. There is also a high risk of exposure to contamination in the dental hospital. We conducted a study to enhance awareness about infection and proper clothing management by comparing before and after contamination of clothing caused by aerosols produced during scaling. Subjects were scaling operators' uniforms in the department of dental hygiene, K University located in Daejeon. Before scaling, the uniform was sterilized by autoclavecaling was performed times in the same place (an average of 60 minutes per person, a total of 180 minutes). ive parts of the uniform (sleeves, chest, belly, thigh, edge of pants) contracted Rodak-plate for 15 seconds. After incubating the contacted Rodak-plate at 37℃ incubator, contamination levels by measuring the number of colonies. As a result, all parts increased number of colonies. ontamination order chestedge of pants thigh belly sleeves. Increase rate of colonies was also high in the order chest edge of pants thigh belly sleeves. This study showed seriousness of clothing contaminationcaused by aerol produced during scalingcontamination of clothing can be a path to nosocomial infecton. According to th study, infection control for clothing as well as dental instruments should be implemented and thorough infection control training needed for dental staff. In further researches, practical infection prevention supplementing clothing management method.

  • It is going to select one X-ray generating device for diagnosis in a radiography laboratory at K university in Gangwon-do to detect bacteria on the surface contamination of tables, IP cassettes, and lead gowns for medical radiation shielding and to inform students of the need for proper disinfection control and hand hygiene. Then disinfection was carried out with tissue, tissue cleaner and 70% alchol and immediately collected with sterile cotton swabs to assess the contamination distribution status and disinfection effects of the surface. The results of measuring the degree of contamination on the surface showed that the largest number of bacteria were detected in Apron, and the evaluation of the disinfection effects according to surface contamination showed a noticeable effect at 70% Alcohol in IP Cassette, and the disinfection effect was the same for Apron. Therefore, in order to prevent bacterial infections among students, basic hand washing and regular disinfection should be performed before the practice to prevent infection.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine factors related to the oral health by stress in college women. This survey was conducted between June 16, 2014 and July 18, 2014 to investigate the correlation between stress and oral health Data were obtained from 393 women students of 5 colleges in Gwangju and Jeollanam-do. The oral health of college students is related with the stress which has a correlation between oral condition satisfaction(-) and inconvenient(+) of mastication and pronunciation (p<0.01). Also, factors affecting stress are discomfort during mastication and oral state satisfaction and discomfort during mastication. The discomfort during mastication showed the highest stress while the higher status of oral satisfaction showed lower stress (p<0.05). Therefore, college women stress is related with oral health. Colleges should consider developing a program which can appropriately manage and regulate stress to relieve their stress.

  • To investigate the perception of the correlation between systemic diseases and oral health among some university students. The questionnaires were conducted on 485 students from 3 universities in Gwangju. As a result of the study, the female was higher than the male and was the highest in the fourth grade. Subjective health status, drinking status, smoking experience, and exercise were not significantly different in recognizing the association between systemic disease and oral health. The group with experience in oral health education recognized 3.18, and the group that practiced educational contents was highly recognized as 3.21. There was a significant difference between the two groups. Multiple regression analysis showed that major factor and grade factor influenced the perception of association between systemic disease and oral health. Therefore, it is necessary for university students to recognize the importance and necessity of periodical oral examinations. It is thought that the incidence of disease should be strengthened and enforced to recognize that there is a correlation with various diseases.

As a result, the experience rate of cosmetic surgery was 66.1%, and the experience of cosmetic surgery was high as the grade was increased. The most common source of information was 'family and people around' at 45.9%, and the cosmetic surgery type 'eye surgery' was the highest at 25.8%. Appearance of interest and cosmetic surgery recognition were higher than those who had no cosmetic surgery experience. Factors related to cosmetic surgery experience were grade, allowance, and appearance interest. It is necessary to prepare basic data on cosmetic information and to develop a program to establish proper beauty values, and education and counseling to make rational decisions about cosmetic surgery will be required.

  • This study carried out questionnaire survey and experiment on oral hygiene effects according to the actual condition of using oral care products and the amount of toothpaste used targeting 40 freshmen and sophomores in dental hygienics in some universities from November 8, 2010 to November 26. The collected data was analyzed by using SPSS WIN 15.0 program. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. The result of actual condition of toothbrushing is as follows. As the answer of a question about whether or not toothbrushing after every meal at ordinary times, the largest was 47.5% of being average. The occasion of toothbrushing before going to bed at ordinary times was the largest with 47.5%. The daily toothbrushing frequency was 3 times mostly and the general toothbrushing method at ordinary times was a rolling method. The frequency of exchanging toothbrushes for the past 1 year was 3 times, which is the largest with 45.0%. 2. As a result of the actual condition of using oral care products, the majority of students don't use electric toothbrush, interdental brush, or mouth-rinse except dental floss. Accordingly, there need to be education and promotion with diverse methods so that a patient oneself can prevent oral disease by selecting and using oral care products that are proper for each individual. Also, it was indicated that there is no big difference in oral hygiene effects depending on the amount of toothpaste used. Thus, to avoid wasting toothpaste, we need to educate and promote to use the amount of toothpaste under 0.3g.
