  • Currently, as Plasma application is expanded to the industrial and medical industrial, low temperature plasma applications became important. Especially in medical and biology, many researchers have studied about generated radical species in atmospheric pressure low temperature plasma directly adapted to human body. Therefore, so measurement their plasma parameter is very important work and is widely studied all around world. One of the plasma parameters is electron density and it is closely relative to radical production through the plasma source. some kinds of method to measuring the electron density are Thomson scattering spectroscopy and Millimeter-wave transmission measurement. But most methods have very expensive cost and complex configuration to composed of experiment system. We selected Michelson interferometer system which is very cheap and simple to setting up, so we tried to measuring electron density by laser interferometer with laser beam chopping module for measurement of temporal phase difference in plasma jet. To measuring electron density at atmospheric pressure Ar plasma jet, we obtained the temporal phase shift signal of interferometer. Phase difference of interferometer can occur because of change by refractive index of electron density in plasma jet. The electron density was able to estimate with this phase difference values by using physical formula about refractive index change of external electromagnetic wave in plasma. Our guiding laser used Helium-Neon laser of the centered wavelength of 632 nm. We installed chopper module which can make a 4kHz pulse laser signal at the laser front side. In this experiment, we obtained more exact synchronized phase difference between with and without plasma jet than reported data at last year. Especially, we found the phase difference between time range of discharge current. Electron density is changed from Townsend discharge's electron bombardment, so we observed the phase difference phenomenon and calculated the temporal electron density by using phase shift. In our result, we suggest that the electron density have approximately range between 1014~ 1015 cm-3 in atmospheric pressure Ar plasma jet.

  • We examine the ionospheric F2-layer electron density variation by solar activity in middle latitude by using foF2 observed at the Kokubunji ionosonde station in Japan for the period from 1997 to 2008. The semi-annual variation of foF2 shows obviously in high solar activity (2000-2002) than low solar activity (2006-2008). It seems that variation of geomagnetic activity by solar activity influences on the semi-annual variation of the ionospheric F2-layer electron density. According to the Lomb-Scargle periodogram analysis of foF2 and Ap index, interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) Bs (IMF Bz <0) component, solar wind speed, solar wind number density and flow pressure which influence the geomagnetic activity, we examine how the geomagnetic activity affects the ionospheric F2-layer electron density variation. We find that the semi-annual variation of daily foF2, Ap index and IMF Bs appear clearly during the high solar activity. It suggests that the semi-annual variation of geomagnetic activity, caused by Russell-McPherron effect, contributes greatly to the ionospheric F2-layer semi-annual electron density variation, except dynamical effects in the thermosphere.

  • SPS(Space Physics Sensor) onboard the KOMPSAT-I, which was launched at 1999, had transmitted ionospheric plasma density and electron temperature during the solar maximum from June 2000 to August 2001, SPS IMS onboard KOMPSAT-I occasionally detected abrupt plasma density enhancement in low-latitude region, in which the plasma density abruptly increases in a narrow region. Statistical analysis of the data obtained during the entire operational period shows that the occurrence probability of these events has its peak value at the Atlantic region and at the Hawaiian region where the geomagnetic field strength is weak. And the occurrence frequency has no correlation with Dst index or F10.7 index. The correlation between plasma density and the electron temperature shows a wide variety, but the anti-correlated cases are dominant.

  • Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationship between blood pressure, lipids and body mass index by smoking status among adolescents. Methods: This study was designed as a descriptive correlational study. General and smoking characteristics were collected using a questionnaire. The smoking group consisted of 42 (33%) students and the non smoking group 85 (67%) students. Blood pressure, lipids, height and weight were measured, and body mass index was calculated to $kg/m^2$. The collected data was analyzed by the n(%), ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test and Pearson correlation coefficient (SPSS 12.0). Results: 1. The smoking level was different between grade, smoking status among the family, the contentment of their relationship with their parents, school life and teachers. 2. The smoking group's systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and body mass index were higher than those of the non smoking group. 3. The smoking amount had a significant positive correlation between total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol. Conclusion: The result of this study offered basic data to develop intervention programs to prevent hypertension and hyperlipidemia in smoking adolescents.

  • Induction motors are a workhorse for the industry. The condition monitoring and fault analysis are the main concern for the engineers. The bearing is one of the vital segment of the induction machine and the condition of the whole machine is decided based on the condition of the bearing. In the present paper, the vibration signal of the bearing has been used for the analysis. The first line of action is to perform a statistical analysis of the vibration signal which gives trends in signal. To get the location of a fault in the bearing the second action is to develop an index based on Wavelet Packet Transform node energy named as Bearing Damage Index (BDI). Further, Teager-Kaiser Energy Operator (TKEO) has been calculated from higher index value to get the envelope and finally Power Spectral Density (PSD) has been applied to identify the fault frequencies. A performance index has also been developed to compare the usefulness of the proposed method with other existing methods. The result shows that the strong amplitude of fault characteristics and its side bands help to decide the type of fault present in the recorded signal obtained from the bearing.

  • Optical and mechanical characteristics of $TiO-2, ZrO_2 \;and\; SiO_xN_y$ thin films prepared by ion assisted deposition (IAD) were investigated. IAD films were bombarded by Ar or nitrogen ion beam from a Kaufman ion source while they were grown in as e-beam evaporator. The result shows that the Ae IAD increases the refractive index and packing density of $TiO_2 films close to those of the bulk. For $ZrO_2$ films the Ar IAD increases the average refractive index decreases the negative inhomogeneity of refractive index and reverses to the positive inhomogeneity. The optical properties result from improved packing density and denser outer layer next to air The Ar-ion bombardment also induces the changes in microstructure of $ZrO_2$ films such as the preferred (111) orientation of cubic phase increase in compressive stress and reduction of surface roughness. Inhomogeneous refractive index SiOxNy films were also prepared by nitrogen IAD and variable refractive index of $SiO_xN_y$ film was applied to fabricate a rugate filter.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of composted liquid manure (CLM) on soil properties and turf quality of zoysiagrass. The CLMs were produced at 5 facilities for livestock excretions treatments located in Cheongwon, Gunwi, Iksan, Nonsan, and Yeoju in Korea, respectively. Field experiments were conducted at 5 golf courses and a sod farm located near each facility for livestock excretion treatments. Chemical fertilizer (CF) with N at $12g\;m^{-2}year^{-1}$ and CLMs were applied four times, respectively. The constituents of the different CLMs were variable based on when and where the fertilizer was produced. Soil K content significantly increased when the soil was treated with CLMs. The soil treated with CF showed a higher content of total P than that treated with CLM. CF and CLMs treatments significantly increased the turf color index compared with control. Tiller density and shoot dry weight of fertilized plots were also higher than those of non-fertilized plots. However, there was no significant difference in turf color index and tiller density among plots treated by CLMs or CF. The results of this study demonstrated that CLMs could be a substitute for CF.

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to investigate how Bone Mineral Density(BMD) and bone mass index(BMI) differ according to classification of blood pressure which JNC 7(The seventh report of the joint national committee on prevention, detection, evaluation and treatment of high blood pressure) indicated. Methods : We measured BMD and BMI of lumbar spine($L_2-L_4$) and femoral neck of 9816 people, and then we analyzed them according to classification of blood pressure. Results : The number of prehypertension group was the most, and Stage 2 hypertension group was the least. As the hypertension was increasing, BMD of lumbar and femoral neck were decreasing, and BMI was increasing. In men, as the blood pressure was increasing, BMI was increasing. But the BMD was irrelevant. In women, the distribution was similar to the total. Conclusions : As the hypertension was increasing, BMI was increasing and BMD was decreasing. And it was more remarkable in women.

  • The structure of the nematodes communities has been studied in the sediments on two sites located outside and under the layer of Ahnfeltia tobuchiensis (Kanno and Matsubara 1932; Makijenko 1970). Bottom sediments at the stations were represented by sands with a different degree of silting. Specific structure of nematodes at the stations was significantly different under the similar environmental conditions (water depth, dissolved oxygen saturation, salinity, temperature of the bottom layer and organic carbon content inside of the sediment). Nematodes dominated (75.7 %) in meiobenthos community under the layer of A. tobuchiensis where concentration of silt particles was 12 %. Representatives of the family Comesomatidae were dominant. Low index of species diversity and high Simpson domination index were detected in this community. Under a layer of A. tobuchiensis with the thickness of 30 cm concentration of the silt particles was 5.39 %; nematodes density was low and made 32.1 % of the general density of meiobenthos. Species of the families Xyalidae and Monoposthiidae were dominant. Outside of A. tobuchiensis, field percentage of silt particles was minimal (3.1 %) and representatives of families Cyatholaimidae and Axonolaimidae dominated. The specific structure of nematodes in this type of the ground is characterized by high index of species diversity and low level of domination.

  • We analyze the dependence of environment of warped galaxies by using the local background density, Tidal Index and projected distance as measures of the environment. we use galaxies with redshift less than z=0.025 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) DR7. We selected 345 edge-on galaxies using color images provided by the SDSS DR7 and checked it using isophotal maps. This sample contains 136 warped galaxies, 209 non-warped galaxies. Among warped galaxies, there are 18 strongly warped galaxies which have warp angles larger than 7.5o. We calculated the fractional distributions of galaxies as a function of environmental parameters. All of these parameters show little difference between warped galaxies and non-warped galaxies if we include weakly warped galaxies. However, there is a clear difference in the fractional distributions between the strongly warped galaxies and non-warped galaxies. The fraction of warped galaxies increases with decreasing distance to the nearest neighbor galaxy but It increases with increasing background density and Tidal Index. However, the relationships between warp angles and the three environmental parameters are not strong. The effect of Tidal Index is well distinguished in small, bright galaxies whereas the effects of the background density and the distance to the nearest neighbor galaxy are more pronounced in large, bright galaxies.
