In this research, microporous and bicontinuous poly vinylidene fluoride(PVDF) hollow fiber membranes were prepared via hybrid process of the thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) and stretching method. The mechanism of the membrane preparation is based on liquid-liquid phase separation. The final membranes have characteristic structures which have both bicontinuous and fibrillar morphology by applying the stretching method. They showed quite different structure when compared with the spherulitic or nodular structure from S/L TIPS and bicontinuous structure from L/L TIPS. At first, PVDF hollow fiber precursors were prepared via TIPS method using various kind of diluent mixtures. We used gamma-butyrolacton, dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP) as diluents. We could make hollow fiber membranes which had porous outer surface or dense outer surface by controling the parameters such as cooling conditions, PVDF concentration and the ratio of diluent mixtures. Finally, these hollow fiber were stretched at room temperature and diluents were extracted by ethanol. Effects of the stretching ratio on the membrane morphology were investigated using scanning electron microscope (SEM), and its effects on water flux, porosity, pore size, roughness and tensile strength were examined.
The fine structures of the sperm morphology in the Myotis daubentonii ussuriensis were observed by transmission electron microscope. The results showed that the sperm head revealed bullet shaped, the width was showed a slender more than toward the posterior region to anterior region of nucleus. The sperm head was about $4.5{\mu}m$ in length, being about $2.0{\mu}m$ in width. The nuclear length was $4.3{\mu}m$, occupied most of the sperm head. The nucleus and acrosome were separated by the apical body. The neck region was composed the basal plate, capitulum and segmented columns. The segmented columns were about 12 to 14 in number and connected with the outer dense fibers of the middle piece. The mitochondria sheath were arranged like the thread of a screw, and the total number of mitochondrial gyres were 57. The satellite fibers were observed irregularly among the outer dense fibers in the middle piece. Except the middle piece they are not observed in the principal and end pieces of the tail. In general, the tail show axoneme composed of a 9+2 microtubular pattern, and microtubules of the end piece were arranged irregularly.

Polycarbonate(PC) membranes for oxygen enrichment from air were prepared by the wet phase inversion method. In order to improve oxygen separation performances of the PC membrane, the effect of the added ethanol(nonsolvent) and $CuCl_2$(metal salt) concentration in the casting solution on morphology, oxygen permeability ami $O_2/N_2$ separation factor of the membrane was studied. In addition, tensile strength and elongation at break of the membrane were investigated. An asymmetric membrane with a dense top layer and a porous sublayer was obtained. The thickness of the dense top layer decreased with increasing amount of nonsolvent additive. Compared with pure PC membrane without additive(metal salt), the oxygen permeability and $O_2/N_2$ separation factor of the $PC/CuCl_2$ membrane are significantly improved. The oxygen permeability and $O_2/N_2$ separation factor is $5.25{\times}10^{-9}cm^3(STP){\cdot}cm/cm^2{\cdot}sec{\cdot}cmHg$ and 4.5, respectively. This improvement might be due to good interaction between metal salt and oxygen.
Wind damage of urban trees arises to be a serious issue especially in the typhoon-prone areas. As a family of tree species widely-planted in Southeast China, the structural behaviors of Plane tree is investigated. In order to accommodate the complexities of tree morphology, a fractal theory based finite element modeling method is proposed. On-site measurement of Plane trees is performed for physical definition of structural parameters. It is revealed that modal frequencies of Plane trees distribute in a manner of grouped dense-frequencies; bending is the main mode of structural failure. In conjunction with the probability density evolution method, the fragility assessment of urban trees subjected to wind excitations is then proceeded. Numerical results indicate that small-size segments such as secondary branches feature a relatively higher failure risk in a low wind level, and a relatively lower failure risk in a high wind level owing to windward shrinks. Besides, the trunk of Plane tree is the segment most likely to be damaged than other segments in case of high winds. The failure position tends to occur at the connection between trunk and primary branches, where the logical protections and reinforcement measures can be implemented for mitigating the wind damage.
These studies were carried out the observation of polymorphonuclear leukocyte phagocytosis of Candida albicans in vitro and also detected to the cytoplasmic changes of polymorphonuclear leukocyte during phagocytosis by the method of electron microscopy. The results were summarized as follows: 1. In normal polymorphonuclear leukocyte, nuclear lobes showed a preponderance of dense, granular chromatin located peripherally. The cytoplasm of polymorphonuclear leukocyte was not extensive; the cytoplasmic matrix was moderate dense and of a granular appearance. Golgi complex and rough endoplasmic reticulum system was poorly developed. But a various type of granules were seen abundantly. 2. After 30 minutes of incubation, Candida albicans was completely engulfed. These had come to lie in the vacuole which was limited by the membrane. 3. After 90 minutes of incubation, the phagocytic vacuoles were larger, and many granules devoid of membranes were seen within them. Though the granules has lost their membrane after entering the vacuoles. 4. After 2 hours of incubation, the cytoplamsic components of polymorphonuclear leuko cytes were changed their original morphology.
Nothobranchius guentheri and Nothobranchius patrizii have special life cycle to sustain the dry season. So, we investigated the fertilized eggs morphology, and compared ultrastructures of surface structures and the cross section of fertilized egg envelopes using light and electron microscopes to determine whether these fertilized eggs and egg envelopes show the species specificity or have special structure to sustain the dry season. These fertilized eggs were spherical, yellowish, demersal and adhesive, and had a one-sided large oil droplet. The whip-like structures, adhesive filament were distributed throughout egg envelope in both species. But, that of N. guentheri was covered with fibrous structures, and that of N. patrizii was smooth. The egg envelope consisted of two distinct layers: an outer, electron-dense layer containing adhesive filaments and an inner layer of 16 to 17 horizontal electron-dense lamellae alternating with 15 to 16 interlamellae of lower electron density in both species. The external shapes of fertilized egg and section of fertilized egg envelope were same, but ultrastructure of adhesive filaments on the outer surface was concluded to show species specificity. Our data indicate that the ultrastructural differences of adhesive filament and outer surface of fertilized egg envelope show species specificity although these species belong to same genus.

We present the ALMA observations of the infrared dark cloud (IRDC) core MSXDC G053.11+00.05 MM1 at the distance of 1.7 kpc. While the core was first identified at 1.2 mm with a mass of 124 Msun, recent near- and mid-infrared observations have revealed a parsec-scale molecular hydrogen (H2 1-0 S(1) at 2.12 micron) outflow and two early class young stellar objects (YSOs) at the center of the core, one of which is likely massive (M > 8 Msun). From the ALMA Band 7 observations with a resolution of 0.5", we have found a dust filament of < 0.1 pc in which five dense cores are embedded in the 870 micron continuum. The brightest core is consistent with one of the two previously-detected YSOs, but the other four are newly discovered implying their very deeply embedded status. We have also detected several molecular line emission including H13CO+ and C17O as well as 13CO outflow with complicated morphology. At the brightest core, the methanol line (CH3OH) shows velocity gradients, which may support the existence of a circumstellar disk around a high-mass protostar. Based on the derived properties of the dense cores, we discuss their association with the two YSOs and H2 outflow detected in infrared and high-mass star-formation process occurring in IRDC cores.

Double-layered polysulfone composite films, containing cerium activated yttrium silicate (CAYS) as a flour, were prepared from double casting of two polymeric solutions, and their morphology and physical strength were superior to those of single-layered composites. The prepared polymeric films consist of a dense bottom layer and a CAYS-holding top layer. The former is made of coagulating the polysulfone and methylene chloride binary solution and works as a supporter to improve the composite's physical strength, while the latter holding the inorganic fluor plays a role as an active site to detect the radioactive contamination. The prepared films revealed two distinguished, but tightly attached, double layers, their attachment being identified by morphology of the interface between two layers. As prepared by water immersion coagulation, the films have highly developed macropores, compared with a dense structure in the film prepared by evaporation. In the radionuclide detection test of the CAYS-impregnated composites, the films have reliable detection capacity at a radionuclide spotting test. The double-layered composites with the dense support layer show a better stability in holding the radionuclides spotted on the surface as well as an improvement in physical strength, compared with the single-layer composites having shortcomings such as being too porous or being brittle.
The morphology and cellular characteristics of adventitious roots, viz aerial roots, in the epiphytic American Ivy were examined to reveal structural changes of the aerial root upon surface attachment. Immature aerial roots were composed of parenchyma cells with dense cytoplasm containing plastids, however, the upper and lower epidermis were not distinguished. At early development, electron-dense substances (EDS) were constituents of much of the aerial root tissue, but the distribution of EDS varied within the tissue. The deposits appeared most concentrated in the superficial cell layers, with lesser amounts in cell layers closer to the cortex. Electron micrographs revealed that EDS deposits were always found in the vacuole, and were mainly associated with the tonoplast. While most of them occurred in the vacuole as small spherical deposits adjacent to the tonoplast, some deposits were oddly shaped or larger in size. Many of the vacuoles eventually filled with EDS, but the EDS content in those vacuoles decreased substantially after initial attachment to the surface. When the vacuoles became almost empty, cells near the epidermis already exhibited irregularity in outline. Subsequent breakdown of cellular components took place in the cells while they were still attached to the surface. This study suggests the potential role of EDS as substances involved in the surface attachment of the plant, however, further studies must be conducted to reveal the nature of EDS and the effects of EDS storage within these vacuoles.
Phase-change optical disk very rapid recording, high densification of data, resulting in high feedback rate and good C/N(carrier to noise) ratio of a feedback signal. However, repetitive thermal energy may cause the deformation of a disk or the lowering of an eliminability and a cyclability of the recording. The lowering of the cyclability can be reduced by insertion of thin layer of ZnS-$SiO_2$ dielectric thin film in appropriate disk structure between the upper and lower part of the recording film. Using the Taguchi method, optimum conditions satisfying both the optimized quality characteristic values and the scattering values for film formation were found to be the target R.F. power of 200W, the substrate R.F. power of 20W, the Ar pressure of 6mTorr, and the electrode distance of 6cm. From the refractive index data, the existence of the strong interaction between the electrode distance and Ar pressure was confirmed, and so was the large effect of the electrode distance on transmittance. According to the analysis of TEM and XRD, the closer the electrode distance was, the finer was the grain size due to the high deposition rate. However, the closer electrode distance brought the negative effect on the morphology of the film and caused the reduction of transmittance. AFM and SEM analyses showed that the closer the electrode distance was, the worse was the morphology due to the high rate of the deposition. Under optimum condition, the deposited thin film showed a good morphology and dense microstructure with less defects.
