The major drawback in the Code Excited Linear Prediction type vocoders is their large computational requirements. In this paper, a simple method is proposed to reduce the pitch searching time in the pitch filter almost without degradation of quality. On the basis of the observational regularity of the correlation function of speech, only the limited numbers of pitch lags are considered to be an optimum pitch. This is done by skipping the negative envelope side of the correlation function and limiting the maximum number of lags to be considered preliminarily. By doing so, we can reduce the computational time of pitch searching more than 51% with negligible quality degradation. In addition to that, by combining that method with the conventional delta search technique, we can reduce the computational time requirements more than 60% without serious lowering the speech quality in segmental SNR measure compared to the conventional full search method.

Previously we reported the cloning and sequence analysis of a CFTase gene from Bacillus polymyxa. CFTase was divided into five distinct regions. In order to understand a role of the N-terminal repeat region on the function of CFTase from Bacillus polymyxa MGL21, deletion mutantCFTase ${\Delta}N$ was prepered. Recombinant protein was overproduced in E. coli as inclusion body, solubilized in bufer containing 8M urea, and refolded in the phosphate buffer. The molecular weight of the purified wild type CFTase and CFTase ${\Delta}N$ were 148kDa , 108kDa, respectively.

Sequence analysis indicated that Bacillus polymyxa MGL21 CFTase was divided into five distinct regions. CFTase contained three regions of repeat sequences at the N-terminus and C-terminus. The endo-inulinase region of homology (ERH) of CFTase was similar to that of Pseudomonas mucidolens endo-inulinase. Furthemore, CFTase possessed a highly conserved core region. In order to understand the role of the core region on the function of CFTase from B. polymyxa MGL21 CFTase ${\Delta}NC$ was prepared. The molecular weight of the purified wild type CFTase and $CFTase{\Delta}NC$ were 148kDa, 90kDa, respectively.

The effects of stiffeners on the modal characteristics of rectangular plates are investigated. A modeling method for the modal analysis of rectangular plates with stiffeners is presented. A mass density Dirac's delta function is used to idealize the stiffeners mathematically. The equations of motion for the plates are derived and transformed into a dimensionless form. To confirm the accuracy of the method presented in this study, numerical result are obtained and compared to those of a commercial program. The mode shape variations due to some parameter variations are also exhibited.

Blind equalization techniques have been used in broadcast and multipoint communications. In this paper, two criteria of minimizing Euclidian distance between two probability density functions (PDFs) for adaptive blind equalizers are presented. For PDF calculation, Parzen window estimator is used. One criterion is to use a set of randomly generated desired symbols at the receiver so that PDF of the generated symbols matches that of the transmitted symbols. The second method is to use a set of Dirac delta functions in place of the PDF of the transmitted symbols. From the simulation results, the proposed methods significantly outperform the constant modulus algorithm in multipath channel environments.

We proposed an axis transformation technique which reveals a distance parameter directly from optical scanning holography (OSH). After synthesis of a real-only spectrum hologram and power fringe adjusted filtering, we transform an original frequency axis to a new frequency axis using interpolation. In the new frequency axis, the filtered hologram has a single frequency which is linearly proportional to the distance parameter. Thus, the inverse Fourier transformation of the filtered hologram gives a delta function pair in the new spatial axis. Finally, we extract the distance parameter by detecting the location of the delta function pair.

In order to improve insulating character and ability of insulating system of power apparatus, the interfacial and complex structure is widely used. However, the interface or complex structure of insulation materials is reported as a weak point which causes breakdown. As the interface of insulation system degrades its electrical property and eventually causes a failure, the datailed phenomenon analysis is reported. The object of this paper is to evaluate dielectric property of PET film with the interface. The $tan{\delta}$ increased with the existence of semiconducting layer and showed prominent decrease as a function of temperature. Also, the $tan{\delta}$ showed prominent increase as a function of frequency. The dielectric properties of interfacial were affected by the interface characteristics.

The phase retrieval problem is concerned with the reconstruction of a signal or its fourier transform phase form the fourier transform magnitude of the signal. This problem does not have a unique solution, in general. If, however, the desired signal is minimum-phase, then it can be decided uniquely. This paper shows that we can make a minimum-phase signal by adding a delta function having a large value at the origin of an arbitrary one-dimensional signal, and a two-dimensional signal can be uniquely specified from its fourier transform magnitude if it is added by a delta function having a large value at the origin, and finally we can solve a two-dimensional phase retrieval problem by decomposing it into several ine-dimensional phase retrieval problems.

진공 증착 방법으로 제작한 Pd박막(두께 $180{\sim}670{\AA}$)에 상온에서 수소기체를 흡수-방출시킬 때의 전기저항값의 변화를 측정하였다. 저항값 변화의 최대값은 시료의 두께에 따라서 달라졌다. $({\Delta}R_{\infty}/R_0)_{{\beta}min}$ 값은 $\670{\AA}$ 시료는 0.61이었으며, $\180{\AA}$ 시료는 0.34 이었다. 같은 두께의 시료일 경우 시료의 제작 조건에 따라 저항값의 변화는 다른 경향을 보였다.

For a given p-valent analytic function g with positive coefficients in the open unit disk $\Delta$, we study a class of functions $f(z) = z^p - \sum\limits{_{n=m}}{^\infty} a_nz^n(a_n{\geq}0)$ satisfying $$\frac 1 {p}{\Re}\;(\frac {z(f*g)'(z)} {(f*g)(z)})\;>\;\alpha\;(0{\leq}\;\alpha\;<\;1;z{\in}{\Delta})$$ Coefficient inequalities, distortion and covering theorems, as well as closure theorems are determined. The results obtained extend several known results as special cases.
