Adaptation of Time-Belay in Command Shaping Filter for Vibration Suppression in Flexible Motion System (유연체 모션시스템의 진동억제를 위한 명령성형필터의 시간지연 값 학습)

  • The performance of the direct adaptive time-delay filter depends on the select time-delay. In this paper, the authors introduce a new scheme to adapt the time-delay which is to be used in conjunction with the direct adaptive command shaping for the improved vibration suppression in flexible motion system. In order to formulate the time-delay adaptation scheme, the authors have analyzed the effect of the time-delay value on the performance of the direct adaptive command shaping filter. By modifying the direct adaptation formula based on the analysis result the authors have established a set of equations to adapt the time-delay toward the optimal value. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed time-delay adaptation approach for the improved vibration suppression.

Measurement Time-Delay Compensation and Initial Attitude Determination of Electro-Optical Tracking System Using Augmented Kalman Filter (Augmented 칼만 필터를 이용한 전자광학 추적 장비의 측정치 시간지연 보상과 초기 자세 결정)

  • Due to the low output rate and time delay of vehicle's navigation results, the electro-optical tracking system(EOTS) cannot estimate accurate target positions. If an inertial measurement unit(IMU) is additionally mounted into the EOTS and inertial navigation system(INS) is constructed, the high navigation output rate can be obtained. And the time-delay can be compensated by using the augmented Kalman filter. An accurate initial attitude is required in order to have accurate navigation outputs. In this paper, an attitude determination algorithm is proposed using the augmented Kalman filter in order to compensate measurement delay of the EOTS and have accurate initial attitude. The proposed initial attitude determination algorithm consists of an augmented Kalman filter, an INS, and an integrated Kalman filter. The augmented Kalman filter compensates the time-delay of the vehicle's navigation results and the integrated Kalman filter estimates the navigation error of the INS. In order to evaluate performance of the proposed algorithm, vehicle's navigation outputs and IMU measurements were generated using sensors' model-based measurement generator and initial attitude estimation errors of the proposed algorithm and the conventional algorithm without the augmented Kalman filter were compared for the generated measurements. The evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm has better accuracy.

  • Microwave Photonic(MWP) filters capable of use a bandpass filter or a notch filter with large bandwidth have been proposed. 4-lines${\times}$2-bit fiber-optic delay lines with a unit time-delay difference of 50 ps were experimentally realized. By changing the time-delay difference and the coefficients of microwave-modulated optical signals, the bandpass and notch filters were implemented and characterized.

  • A technique for realizing linear phase IIR filters has been proposed by Powell-Chau which gives a real-time implementation of H(z-1).H(z), where H(z) is a causal nonlinear phase IIR filter. Powell-Chau system is linear but not timeinvariant system. Therefore, that system has group delay response that exhibits a minor sinusoidal variation superimposed on a constant value. In the signal processing, this oscillation seriously degrade the signal quality. Unfortunately, that system has a large sample delay of 4L and also more computational complexity. Proposed system is present a reduced computational complexity technique by moved the numerator polynomial of H(1/z) out to cascade with causal filter H(z) and remain only all-pole of H(1/z), then applied truncated infinite impulse response to finite with truncated IIR filtel $H_L$(z) and L sample delay to subtract the output sequence from the top and bottom filter. Proposed system is linear time invariance and group delay response and total harmonic distortion are also improved.

  • During transfer alignment navigation information transferred MINS(master inertial navigation system) to SINS(slave inertial navigation system) has a changed time delay. The changed time delay degrades the performance of transfer alignment. This paper proposes an adaptive filter that estimates covariance of a time delay in real-time using residual of measurements. The performance of the adaptive filter is compared with that of the EKF(extended Kalman filter) in case of transfer alignment for vertical launcher in the ship. The results show that proposed method is more effective than EKF in estimating attitude errors.

  • In this paper, we consider the guaranteed cost filtering design method for time-varying delay system with parameter uncertainties by LMI(Linear Matrix Inequality) approach. The objective is to design a stable guaranteed cost filter which minimizes the guaranteed cost fo the closed loop systems in filtering error dynamics. The sufficient conditions for the existence of filter, the guaranteed cost filter design method, and th guaranteed cost upper bound are proposed by LMI technique in terms of all finding variables. Finally, we give an example to check the validity of the proposed method.

  • The repeater for wireless broadband internet (Wibro) system using OFDM demands the short processing delay to eliminate inter-symbol interference resulted from the time delay greater than the guard time. Towards this, the total system delay of repeater is expected to be minimized as possible as it can without distorting signal quality. In general, the FIR-type of filter is commonly deployed as a channelization filter, but due to its large amount of coefficients for producing prerequisite filter response the excessive large time delay occurs. To withstand this problem, the paper proposes the method for designing IIR filter whose response almost identical to that of the original filter. Moreover, in order to linearize the phase response of the designed IIR filter, this paper also introduce the way of designing the all-pass filter to be cascaded works for linearizing phase response of the channelization as well as the de-channelization filter. To achieve the further improvement in linearization of the phase response and reduction of the overall complexity, this paper tries to transform the integrated IIR filter group into the structure in polyphase style. The computer simulation verifies that the integrated IIR filter group designed in this paper reveals the relatively short processing delay without harming the acceptible signal quality.

Development of Continuous/Discrete Mixed $H_2$/H$\infty$ Filtering Design Algorithms for Time Delay Systems

  • The problems of mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filtering design fer continuous and discrete time linear systems with time delay are investigated. The main purpose is to design a stable mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filter which minimizes the H$_2$Performance measure satisfying a prescribed H$_{\infty}$ norm bound on the closed loop system in continuous-time case and discrete-time case, respectively. The sufficient conditions of existence of filter, the mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filter design method, and the upper bound of performance measure are proposed by LMI(linear matrix inequality) techniques in terms of all finding variables. Also, we present optimization problems in order to get the optimal mixed $H_2/H_{\infty}$ filter in continuous and discrete time case, respectively.

An Optimal Design Method for Optical Fiber Filter of Lattice Structure (격자형 광파이버필터의 최적설계에 관한 연구)

  • Due to the low loss, broadband and accurate short time delay properties of optical fiber, it has attracted as a delay medium for high speed and broad-band signal processing. In this paper, we consider the coherent optical fiber filter of lattice structure, which uses coherent light sources and consists of directional couplers and optical fiber delay elements.The differences between the optical fiber filter and the ordinary digital filter are 1) the coupling coefficients of directional couplers are restricted between 0 and 1. 2) the optical signal is divided into ${j\sqrt{a}}and\;{j\sqrt{1-a}}$ at the directional coupler. Considering these restrictions, the design formulae and condition of realibility for optical fiber filter of lattice structure which makes the optimal use of optical signal energy are derived.
