  • In most physical processes, the transfer function includes a time-delay, and in the general distributed control system using a computer network, an inherent time-delay exists due to the spatial separation between controllers and actuators. Under the circumstance where an input time-delay exits, the system response overshoots and tends to diverge. For this reasons described above, a controller design method is proposed for a discrete nonlinear system including input time-delay, which adopts the time-discretization using Taylor series. Controllers are synthesized using an input/output linearization method. Finally, several cases of the computer simulations were conducted, and the results validate the proposed methods.

  • Recently, internet-based applications can be found easily in various felds. Internet-based telerobot system becomes one of important applications of internet. Among many important technological issues on the internet-based telerobot, time-delay is inherently critical problem to be solved. Time-delay is classified as micro time-delay and macro time-delay in this paper. Algorithms for compensation of path-error and time-error are proposed for the both types of time-delays using fuzzy logic since fuzzy logic is one of the best tools to represent expert's knowledge. Simulation results show the validity of the proposed algorithms.

  • In this paper, we consider a class of time-varying systems with time-varying state delay. Generally, this system is affected by many uncertainties and we assume that the information of the upper bound(time-delay, uncertainty) is known. In this work, we propose a robust control for system with state delay. The stability based on Lyapunov function is presented. Finally, a numberical example is given to demonstrate the validity of the result.

  • This paper presents a stability condition for Astrom's minimal variance control(MVC) with mismatch of time delay for a SISO ARMAX model containing time delay. The proof of the condition presented here is based on the characteristic equation in the feedback system and its magnitude. This condition, from easy numerical calculation, is able to find the stability of the feedback system without knowing the real time delay.

  • In this paper, though Simith controller is also used, we propose a new system configuration which can be regarded an SISO continuous nth-order plant with time delay of k-times of a sampling period as a linear discrete (n + k)th order plant of which all state variables can be available. Consequently, we can pply linear control system design techniques which do not consider the existence of time delay to the proposed system.

  • A stable TSK-type FLC can be designed by the method of Parallel Distributed Compensation (PDC), but in this case, solving the LMI problem is not a trivial task. To overcome such a difficulty, a Time-Delay based FLC (TDFLC) is proposed. TSK-type TDFLC consists of Time-Delay Control (TDC) and Sliding Mode Control (SMC) schemes, which result in a robust controller basaed upon an integral sliding surface.

  • A certain degree of energy saving can be possible by controlling the delay time of occupancy sensor. In this paper a control circuit is designed for automatic control of delay time setting appropriate to different situations using a digital counter, two latches and an adder. The delay time is controlled by adjusting the time constant of RC circuit through on-off control of switching devices according to adder output, which determines the base current level of switching devices. And from PSpice simulation it is verified to function properly.

  • In this paper, Time Delay Control(TDC) for robot manipulators is analyzed and its problems are founded. In order to remedy the problems, the enhanced controller is proposed and analyzed. The effect of friction associated with TDC is reported and its cause is presented. Through the analysis, simulation and experiment, it is shown that the friction effect causes serious degradation in control performance and that it is a result of the error of Time Delay Estimation(TDE) in TDC. In order to remedy the problems, TDC combined with Internal Model Control(IMC) concept is proposed. The proposed compensator is effective enough to handle the bad effect of friction, and is so simple and efficient as to match positive attribute of TDC. The simulation and experimental results show the effectiveness of proposed controller against the friction of the robot manipulators.

  • Network-based real-time multimedia applications require guaranteed performances of communication service. Also according to increased bandwidth and processing performance in the future high speed networks, it is possible to make multimedia real-time applications such as distributed real-time applications including video conference, medical imaging, and video education. These applications have characteristics of stringent performance requirements in terms of delay, delay jitter and maximum loss rate. This paper proposes a new delay control for Broadband networks with FCFS queueing. The delay control provides an alternative solution to a current problem in real-time communication; traffic distortion, which makes it difficult to meet such real-time requirements. In simulations, it shows that the proposed delay control can guarantee local and end-to-end delay.

  • A new discretization method for nonlinear system with time-delay is proposed. It is based on the well-known Taylor series expansion and the zero-order hold (ZOH) assumption. We know that a discretization of linear system can be obtained with the ZOH assumption and within the sampling interval. A similar line of thinking is available in nonlinear case. The mathematical structure of the new discretization method is explored and under the structure, the sampled-data representation of nonlinear system including time-delay is computed. Provided that the discrete form of the single input nonlinear system with time-delay is derived, this result is easily extended to nonlinear system with multi-input time-delay. For simplicity two inputs are considered in this study. It is enough to generalize that of multiple inputs. Finally, the time-discretization of non-affine nonlinear system with time-delay is investigated for apply all nonlinear system
