  • This study presents the techniques to manufacture the model concrete and model reinforcement for the 1/5-scale 3-story reinforced concrete frame. The used model concrete has sufficient workability but shows a little lower strength than expected model steel was made of commercial $\phi$3.2mm and $\phi$2.0mm wire by using deforming device and vacuum tube electric furnace. The yield strength can be simulated but it was difficult to simulate the other properties. The load cell was specially manufactured to measure the shear force in the columns of the first story. The carrying frame and the hinge adapter of artificial mass are explained. The special problems in the process of construction of model are also dressed.

Julia Set을 이용한 회전 대칭 프랙탈 이미지 생성 (Creation of Fractal Images with Rotational Symmetry Based on Julia Set)

  • 이미지 디자인 등에 사용하기에 용이한 정다각형의 회전대칭성을 갖는 프랙탈 생성에 대해 연구하였다. Loocke의 논문[13]에서 사용한 방법과 같이 회전, 축소 아핀함수를 기반으로 하되 제곱근(square root)함수 대신 줄리아 셋(Julia set)을 생성하는 함수들로 확장하여 IFS(iterated function systems)를 구성하였다. 그 결과 줄리아 셋의 모양에 바탕을 둔 회전 대칭적 프랙탈을 생성할 수 있었으며, 줄리아 셋의 모양이 잘 나타나지 않는 경우에는 IFS 생성 알고리즘의 확률적 함수선택 부분을 변경하여 줄리아 셋의 모양이 뚜렸해지도록 할 수 있음을 보였다. 또한 줄리아 셋의 모양을 지수의 변화를 통해 변형하는 방법을 제안하였다.

  • A Manufacturing process of the power steering worm blank is analyzed by FEM aimulation. The process includes mainly three operations such as indentation, extrusion, and upsetting, which was designed bya forming equipment expert. The results of simulation are summarized in terms of load-stroke relationships, die pressure distributions, effective strain distribution, and deforming patterns for each forming operation. Also, Efforts are focused to get the reason that the tool expert designed the forming process in three operations. The results of the simulation are to be useful for the next advanced process planning in terms of good dimesional accuracy, savings in material and machining, no deforaming defects and imporvements in mechanical properties.

  • The effect of grain refinement on the plastic deformation behaviour of nanocrystalline metallic materials is investigated. A phase mixture model in which a single phase material is considered as an effectively two-phase one is discussed. A distinctive feature of the model is that grain boundaries are treated as a separate phase deforming by a diffusion mechanism. For the grain interior phase two concurrent mechanisms are considered: dislocation glide and mass transfer by diffusion. The proposed constitutive model was implemented into a finite element code (DEFORM) using a semicoupled approach. The finite element method was applied to simulating room temperature tensile deformation of Cu down to the nanoscale grain size in order to investigate the pre- and post-necking behaviour.

  • Double layered tube is assembled with an inner tube and an outer tube, similar in material or not, contacting closely and deforming simultaneously when subjected to external force. For the manufacturing of double layered tube, the hydroforming assembly technology has several advantages. Therefore in this study, hydroforming characteristics of double layered tube was investigated. The free bulge test was performed to produce formability diagrams of double layered tubes at various forming pressure and feeding amounts. The hexagonal shape hydroforming test was also performed to estimate the dimensional accuracies of double layered tube through the corner filling ratio and the gap between inner and outer tube. Besides experimental analyses, the analytical model that can predict internal pressure for the hydroforming of double-layered tube was proposed and experimentally validated.

  • In the present work, the two-back stress model is proposed and continuum damage mechanics (CDM) is incorporated into the plastic constitutive relation in order to describe the plastic deformation localization and the damage evolution in a deforming continuum body. Coupling between damage mechanics and isothermal rate independent plasticity is performed using the kinematic hardening rule, which in turn is formulated by combining the nonlinear Armstrong-Frederick rule and the Phillips rule. The numerical analyses are carried out within h deformation theory. It is noted that the damage evolution within a work piece accelerates the plastic deformation localization such that the material with lower hardening exponent results in a rapid shear band formation. Moreover, the results from the numerical analysis reflected closely with the micro-structures around the fractured regime. The effects of the various hardening parameters on deformation localization are also investigated. As the nonlinear strain rate description in the back stress evolution becomes dominant, the strain localization becomes intensified as well as the damage evolution.

  • In this paper, back pressure forging processes of which back pressures are exerted by mechanical forces including spring reaction are simulated by three-dimensional finite element method. The basic three-dimensional approach extended from two-dimensional approach is accounted for. An axisymmetric backward and forward extrusion process having a back pressing die, which is exposed to oscillation of forming load due to variation of reduction ratios with stroke and its related frequent variation of major deforming region, is simulated by both two and three dimensional approaches to justify the presented approach by their comparison. A three-dimensional forging process having a back pressing die attached to the punch by a mechanical spring is simulated and the results are investigated to reveal accuracy of the presented approach.

  • A general approach is proposed for 3-D coupled FE analysis of the deformation of the strip and rolls in flat rolling. FE formulation, schemes for the treatment of contact occurring in a cluster of deforming objects, and the solution strategy are described in detail. The validity of the approach is examined through comparison with observed measurements. The approach is applied to the analysis of deformation in a four-high and six-high mill.

Deformation of the grain interior phase is assumed to be carried by two concurrent mechanism. Deformation of the grain interior phase is assumed to be carried by two concurrent mechanisms: dislocation glide and mass transfer by diffusion. The model was exemplified by simulating uniaxial tensile deformation of Cu down to the nanometer grain size. The results confirm the observed strain hardening behaviour and a trend for reduction of ductility with decreasing grain size at room temperature.

  • Switched reluctance motor(SRM) has simple magnetic structure, and needs simple power electronic driving circuit. It is very useful for wide range adjustable speed drive system. But, SRM drive generates large vibration and acoustic noise because it is commutated individually by step pulse m.m.f of each phase. In the vibration and acoustic noise characteristics. the considerable vibration and noise is induced by radial deforming of stator, so the frequency of dominant vibration and noise is coincident with the frequency of natural frequency of mechanical structure. This radial vibration force is generated by abrupt change of radial magnetic force in the phase commutation region. This paper studied about simple electromagnetic structure of SRM using auxiliary compensating winding for the reduction of noise and vibration. This auxiliary winding is coupled with all phase windings electromagnetically and absorb and transfer magnetic energy variation from phase to other phase. By this interaction of phase windings and compensating winding can reduce abrupt radial force change and vibration and acoustic noise. In this paper the improvement effect is examined by the test of prototype machine.
