  • This paper proposes a method which efficiently allocates decoupling capacitance to reduce power supply noise at the floorplan level. We observe problems of previous approach that the decoupling capacitance of each module was overestimated and the power supply noises of modules were changed by inserting additional area for decoupling capacitance, and then suggest a new approach. And, we also present a simple heuristic method which can effectively allocate white space modules for decoupling capacitance area within more faster time instead of LP technique. Experimental results show that our approach can reduce the area of decoupling capacitance to average 7.9 percent compared with Zhao's approach in [4]. Therefore both total area and wire length of nniflm result are decreased. Also, we confirm that our approach solves well the problem caused by inserting additional area. In execution time comparison, our approach shows average 11.6 percent improvement.

  • Analyzing the typhoon wind hazards is crucial to determine the extreme wind load on engineering structures in the typhoon prone region. In essence, the typhoon hazard analysis is a high-dimensional problem with randomness arising from the typhoon genesis, environmental variables and the boundary layer wind field. This study suggests a dimension reduction approach by decoupling the original typhoon hazard analysis into two stages. At the first stage, the randomness of the typhoon genesis and environmental variables are propagated through the typhoon track model and intensity model into the randomness of the key typhoon parameters. At the second stage, the probability distribution information of the key typhoon parameters, combined with the randomness of the boundary layer wind field, could be used to estimate the extreme wind hazard. The Chinese southeast coastline is taken as an example to demonstrate the adequacy and efficiency of the suggested decoupling approach.

  • If a ship diesel engine is operated by consolidated control with Controllable Pitch Propeller(CPP), the minimum fuel consumption is achieved together with the demanded ship speed. For this, it is necessary that the ship is operated on the ideal operating line which satisfies the minimum fuel consumption and that the pitch angle of CPP and throtle valve angle are controlled simultaneously. In this point of view, this paper presents a controller design method for a ship propulsion system with CPP based on the decoupling control theory. To do this, Linear Matrix Inequality(LMI) approach is introduced for the control system to satisfy the given $H_\infty$ control performance and robust stability in the presence of physical parameter perturbations. The validity and applicability of this approach are illustrated by simulation in the all operating ranges.

  • The current control for interior permanent magnet machines is more complicate than surface permanent magnet machine because of its torque characteristic depending on the reluctance. For high performance torque control, it requires state decoupling between the d-current and q-current dynamics. However the variation of the inductances, which couples the state dynamics of the currents, makes the state decoupling difficult. So some decoupling methods have developed to cope this variations and each current can be regulated independently. This paper presents a novel approach for fully decoupling the states cross-coupling using parameter adaptation. The adaptation method is based on the error between reference currents and the currents with state decoupling which have to follow the references. This method is more object-oriented than the other online parameter estimation methods in IPM machine and other electrical machines

  • An isolated building, composed of superstructure and isolation system which have very different damping properties, is typically non-classical damping system. This results in inapplicability of traditional response spectrum method for isolated buildings. A multidimensional response spectrum method based on complex mode superposition is herein introduced, which properly takes into account the non-classical damping feature in the structure and a new method is developed to estimate velocity spectra from the commonly used displacement or pseudo-acceleration spectra based on random vibration theory. The error of forced decoupling method, an approximated approach, is discussed in the viewpoint of energy transfer. From the base-isolated benchmark model, as a numerical example, application of the procedure is illustrated companying with comparison study of time-history method, forced decoupling method and the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method is valid, while forced decoupling approach can't reflect the characteristics of isolated buildings and may lead to insecurity of structures.

  • For a multi-input, multi-output system, it is widely known that feedback control gain presents extra freedom pole placement problem. An eigenstructure assignment utilizes this freedom for assignment of all or some elements of the closed-loop eigenvectors. In this paper, a nonlinear optimization technique is adopted to obtain a small gain controller that assigns closed-loop eigenvalues and elements of eigenvectors simultaneously. To illustrate the approach, a numerical example of the Airplane mode decoupling using an advanced fighter is shown.

  • In this paper, a pre-layout design approach for high-speed microprocessor is proposed. For multilayer PCB stark up configuration as well as selection and placement of decoupling capacitors, an effective solution for reducing SSN and EMI is obtained by modeling and simulation of complete power distribution system. The system model includes VRM, decoupling capacitors, multiple power and ground planes for core voltage, vias, as well as microprocessor. Finally, the simulation results are verified by measurements data.

  • This work proposes a simple control method of a buck-type active power decoupling circuit that can minimize the ripple values in the dc link voltage. The proposed method utilizes a simplified duty calculation method and an optimal compensation gain tracking algorithm with variable-step approach. Thus, the dc link voltage ripple can be effectively reduced through the proposed method along with rapid response in tracking the optimum compensation gain. Moreover, the proposed method has better dynamic responses in the load fluctuation or abnormal situation. MATLAB/Simulink simulation and hardware-in-the-loop-simulation(HILS)-based experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

  • The current control for Interior-mounted Permanent Magnet Motor(IPM Motor) is more complicate than Surface-mounted Permanent magnet Motor(SPM Motor) because of its torque characteristic depending on the reluctance. For high performance torque control, it requirs state decoupling between d-axis current and q-axis current dynamics. However the variation of the inductances, which couples the state dynamics of the currents, makes the state decoupling difficult. So some decoupling methods have developed to cope this variation and each current can be regulated independently. This paper proposes a novel approach for fully decoupling the states cross-coupling using sliding mode control with virtual state for IPM Motor. As a result, in spite of the parameter uncertainty and disturbance, the proposed sliding surface can have the dynamics of nominal system controlled by PI controller.

  • Purpose - This study analyzed the decoupling phenomenon between energy consumption and economic growth in Korea from 1990 to 2021. The main purpose of this study is to suggest policy implications for achieving a low-carbon society and decoupling that Korea must move forward in the face of the climate change crisis. Design/methodology/approach - This study investigated the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth by energy source and sector using the energy-EKC (EEKC) hypothesis which included the energy consumption on the traditional Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC), and the impulse response function (IRF) model based on Bayesian vector auto-regression (BVAR). Findings - During the analysis period, the trend of decoupling of energy consumption and economic growth in Korea is confirmed starting from 1996. However, the decoupling tendency appeared differently depending on the differences in energy consumption by sources and fields. The results of the IRF model using data on energy consumption by source showed that the impact of GDP and renewable energy consumption resulted in an increase in energy consumption of bio and waste, but a decrease in energy consumption by sources, and the impact of trade dependence was found to increase the consumption of petroleum products. Research implications or Originality - According to the main results, efficient distribution by existing energy source is required through expansion of development of not only renewable energy but also alternative energy. Additionally, in order to increase the effectiveness of existing energy policies to achieve carbon neutrality, more detailed strategies by source and sector of energy consumption are needed.
