Image deblurring aims to remove image blur, which can be generated while shooting the pictures by the movement of objects, camera shake, blurring of focus, and so forth. With the rise in popularity of smartphones, it is common to carry portable digital cameras daily, so image deblurring techniques have become more significant recently. Originally, image deblurring techniques have been studied using traditional optimization techniques. Then with the recent attention on deep learning, deblurring methods based on convolutional neural networks have been actively proposed. However, most of them have been developed while focusing on better performance. Therefore, it is not easy to use in real situations due to the speed of their algorithms. To tackle this problem, we propose a novel deep learning-based deblurring algorithm that can be operated in real-time on HD resolution. In addition, we improved the training and inference process and could increase the performance of our model without any significant effect on the speed and the speed without any significant effect on the performance. As a result, our algorithm achieves real-time performance by processing 33.74 frames per second at 1280×720 resolution. Furthermore, it shows excellent performance compared to its speed with a PSNR of 29.78 and SSIM of 0.9287 with the GoPro dataset.

This paper presents a fast multiple-image-based deblurring method that decreases the computation loads in the image deblurring, enhancing the sharpness of the textures or edges of the restored images. First, two blurred images with some blurring artifacts and one noisy image including severe noises are consecutively captured under a relatively long and short exposures, respectively. To improve the processing speeds, the captured multiple images are downsampled at the ratio of two, and then a way of estimating the point spread function(PSF) based on the image or edge patches extracted from the whole images, is introduced. The method enables to effectively reduce the computation time taken in the PSF prediction. Next, the texture-enhanced image deblurring method of supplementing the ability of the texture representation degraded by the downsampling of the input images, is developed and then applied. Finally, to get the same image size as the original input images, an upsampling method of utilizing the sharp edges of the captured noisy image is applied. By using the proposed method, the processing times taken in the image deblurring, which is the main obstacle of its application to the digital cameras, can be shortened, while recovering the fine details of the textures or edge components.

This paper presents a fast blind deconvolution method that produces a deblurring result from a single image in only a few seconds. The high speed of our method is enabled by considering the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT), and its relation to filtering and convolution, and fast computation of Moore-Penrose inverse matrix. How can we predict the behavior of an arbitrary filter, or even more to the point design a filter to achieve certain specifications. The idea is to study the frequency response of the filter. This concept leads to an useful convolution formula. A Matlab implementation of our method usually takes less than one minute to deblur an image of moderate size, while the deblurring quality is comparable.

This paper proposes a video deblurring algorithm which maintains uniform sharpness between frames. Unlike the previous algorithms using fixed parameters, the proposed algorithm keeps uniform sharpness by adjusting parameters for each frame. First, we estimate the initial blur kernel and perform deconvolution, then measure the sharpness of the deblurred image. In order to maintain uniform sharpness, we adjust the regularization parameter and kernel according to the examined sharpness, and perform deconvolution again. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves outstanding deblurring results while providing consistent sharpness.
We propose an efficient method for single image motion deblurring using edge prediction. Previous methods for motion deblurring from a single image have been based on total variation or natural image statistics. In contrast, our method predicts sharp edges by applying bilateral and shock filters and manipulating image gradients directly, and estimates motion blur using the predicted sharp edges. Sharp edge prediction makes our method possible to deblur efficiently with less computation. Results show that our method can effectively and efficiently restore images degraded by large complex motion blur.

This paper proposes a practical linear recursive robust motion deblurring filter using the inertial sensor measurements for strapdown image seekers. The angular rate information obtained from the gyro mounted on the missile is used to define the PSF(point spread function). Since the gyro output contains a unknown but bounded bias error. the motion blur image model can be expressed as the linear uncertain system. In consequence, the motion deblurring problem can be cast into the robust Kalman filtering which provides reliable state estimates even in the presence of the parametric uncertainty due to the gyro bias. Through the computer simulations using the actual IR scenes, it is verified that the proposed algorithm guarantees the robust motion deblurring performance.

In this paper, we propose a deblurring method using 1/4 selective filter. Deblurring methods require a lot of processing time for deblurring. In order to enhance execution speed, we propose a novel 1/4 selective filter. The proposed 1/4 selective filter restores major edge, but it distorts minor edge and texture. To solve this problem, we apply 1/4 selective filter to restore major edge and DOG(Difference of Gaussian) filter to restore minor edge and texture. Experimental results show that the proposed method removes the blur effectively.

In this work, we considered a compressed-sensing (CS)-based image deblurring scheme with a total-variation (TV) regularization penalty for improving image characteristics in digital tomosynthesis (DTS). We implemented the proposed image deblurring algorithm and performed a systematic simulation to demonstrate its viability. We also performed an experiment by using a table-top setup which consists of an x-ray tube operated at $90kV_p$, 6 mAs and a CMOS-type flat-panel detector having a $198-{\mu}m$ pixel resolution. In the both simulation and experiment, 51 projection images were taken with a tomographic angle range of ${\theta}=60^{\circ}$ and an angle step of ${\Delta}{\theta}=1.2^{\circ}$ and then deblurred by using the proposed deblurring algorithm before performing the common filtered-backprojection (FBP)-based DTS reconstruction. According to our results, the image sharpness of the recovered x-ray images and the reconstructed DTS images were significantly improved and the cross-plane spatial resolution in DTS was also improved by a factor of about 1.4. Thus the proposed deblurring scheme appears to be effective for the blurring problems in both conventional radiography and DTS and is applicable to improve the present image characteristics.

We present a novel deblurring algorithm for bi-level images blurred by some parameterizable point spread function. The proposed method iteratively searches unknown parameters in the point spread function and noise-to-signal ratio by minimizing an objective function that is based on the binariness and the difference between two intensity values of restoring image. In simulations and experiments, the proposed method showed improved performance compared with the Wiener filtering based method in terms of bit error rate after segmentation.

Multi-view super-resolution (MVSR) refers to the process of reconstructing a high-resolution (HR) image from a set of low-resolution (LR) images captured from different viewpoints typically by different cameras. These multi-view images are usually obtained by a camera array. In our previous work [1], we super-resolved multi-view LR images via image fusion (IF) and blind deblurring (BD). In this paper, we present a new MVSR method that jointly realizes IF and BD based on an integrated energy function optimization. First, we reformulate the MVSR problem into a multi-channel blind deblurring (MCBD) problem which is easier to be solved than the former. Then the depth map of the desired HR image is calculated. Finally, we solve the MCBD problem, in which the optimization problems with respect to the desired HR image and with respect to the unknown blur are efficiently addressed by the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Experiments on the Multi-view Image Database of the University of Tsukuba and images captured by our own camera array system demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
