Recently, twinning rate increases in Korea since the early 1990s by delayed marriage and prevailing of assisted reproductive technology. But twin and higher-order multiples are at increased risk for perinatal and neonatal mortality over 5 fold despite of dramatic improvement of perinatal and neonatal care. Because twins are born more prematurely and have lower birth weights than singleton. In addition, twins are at increased risk for cerebral palsy mainly in monochorionic twins due to co-twin fetal death, twin to twin transfusion and congenital anomaly. So, this article reviews the factors contributing to the mortality and morbidity of the twins and the efforts to decrease the neonatal mortality of twins.

Endocardial cushion defect is a rare congenital heart disease. From September 1985, we experienced 20 cases of endocardial cushion defects and postoperative follow up was taken.We reviewed preoperative clinical data, echocardiography, cardiac cath data, operative method & time. After operation, we performed echocardiography and examined mitral valve function & integrity of patch closure sites. Postoperative follow up was taken regularly & follow up period was from 2 month to 91 months. Several postoperative complications were overcome with adequate treatment. There were 3 cases of early death and mortality rate was 15% [3/20].

Cardiac arrhythmia is irregular heart rate. It's one of the reason of unpredictable sudden death. Accurate diagnosis and management of cardiac arrhythmia are the most important factors for the life of patient. To obtain a good prognosis, Dentist should be know and manage the multi-types of cardiac arrhythmia during dental treatment with the cooperation of medical doctor majored in cardiac circulation medicine. We casually found the cardiac arrhythmia in mandible prognathism patient during preparation for orthognathic surgery. Orthognathic surgery for cardiac arrhythmia patient was done successfully under general anesthesia with the temporary cardiac pace-maker.

This paper studies parameter estimation for a first-order hyperbolic integro-differential equation modelling one-sex population dynamics. A second-order finite difference scheme is used to estimate parameters such as the age-specific death-rate and the age-specific fertility from fully discrete observations on the population. The function space parameter estimation convergence of this scheme is proved. Also, numerical simulations are performed.

Recent studies suggest that inflammatory events are implicated in a variety of ailments such as cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, and certain non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have beneficial effects for the treatment or prevention of these disorders. Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), the rate-limiting enzyme in the prostaglandin (PG) synthesis, is induced by various pro-inflammatory stimuli including nitric oxide (NO) and has been reported to cause and/or aggravate neuronal cell death.
