Simultaneous Motion Recognition Framework using Data Augmentation based on Muscle Activation Model (근육 활성화 모델 기반의 데이터 증강을 활용한 동시 동작 인식 프레임워크)

  • Simultaneous motion is essential in the activities of daily living (ADL). For motion intention recognition, surface electromyogram (sEMG) and corresponding motion label is necessary. However, this process is time-consuming and it may increase the burden of the user. Therefore, we propose a simultaneous motion recognition framework using data augmentation based on muscle activation model. The model consists of multiple point sources to be optimized while the number of point sources and their initial parameters are automatically determined. From the experimental results, it is shown that the framework has generated the data which are similar to the real one. This aspect is quantified with the following two metrics: structural similarity index measure (SSIM) and mean squared error (MSE). Furthermore, with k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) or support vector machine (SVM), the classification accuracy is also enhanced with the proposed framework. From these results, it can be concluded that the generalization property of the training data is enhanced and the classification accuracy is increased accordingly. We expect that this framework reduces the burden of the user from the excessive and time-consuming data acquisition.

  • A new class of data transformation matri is introduced for estimation of angles of arrivals by the rank reduction of multiple wideband sources. The proposed unitary focusing matri minimizes the average of the squared norm of focusing error over the angles of interest without a priori knowledge of source locations. The merit that result as a consequence is a lower resolution threshold. These matrices can be applied to the case of the multigroup sources. Simulations and the comparison of statistical performance are compared with the algorithms (especially, spatial resampling method) which does not require the pre-estimation.

  • The KMTNet Supernovae Project utilizes the large $2^{\circ}{\times}2^{\circ}$ field of view of the three KMTNet telescopes to search and monitor supernovae, especially early ones, and other optical transients. A key component of the project is to build a data pipeline with a descent latency and an early alerting system that can handle the large volume of the data in an efficient and a prompt way, while minimizing false alarms, which casts a significant challenge to the software development. Here we present the current status of their development. The pipeline utilizes a difference image analysis technique to discover candidate transient sources after making correction of image distortion. In the early phase of the program, final selection of transient sources from candidates will mainly rely on multi-filter, multi-epoch and multi-site screening as well as human inspection, and an interactive web-based system is being developed for this purpose. Eventually, machine learning algorithms, based on the training set collected in the early phase, will be used to select true transient sources from candidates.

Materialism and Conspicuous Consumption in Clothing Information Sources (물질주의와 의복의 과시적 소비성향이 정보원 사용에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between materialism and conspicuous consumption, and information sources. Data were administered to 357 women living in Sunchon from June to July 1999. For analysis of the data, factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, duncan's multiple range test, and multiple regression analysis were employed. The results of this study were summarized as follows. 1) Materialism was shown to have the significant differences according to age, marriage, education, occupation, social stratification groups. The higher the education, occupational status, social stratification groups and the lower the age is, or unmarried, the higher is materialism. The use of information sources were shown to have the significant differences according to age, marriage, education, occupation, income, social stratification groups. The higher materialism is, the higher is use of information. 4) According to the results of the regression analysis examining the relative influences of variables affecting information, the relative importance of the variables are in order of ; happiness-pursuable materialism, conspicuous consumption and their explanatory power totalled 18.6%.

  • This study analyzed runoff characteristics of non-point sources pollutant and evaluated removal of pollution by BMP(Best Management Practice) using BASINS/WinHSPF model. Hourly meterological data including input data was provided from 2010 to 2011 year to run HSPF model in Miho stream watershed. As the results of calibration and validation of the model, the model could be successfully performed to simulate the flow and water quality parameters. The apprehensive area of non-point source pollution was chosen by non-point source pollution per area of a tributary to the Miho stream and applied constructed wetland in area chosen. Three scenarios were based on installation area of an constructed wetland and HSPF model would be applied to estimate the pollutant removals through the constructed wetland. The removal rates of pollutants through the constructed wetland were estimated with the runoff and water quality parameters by the comparisons of before and after the constructed wetland application.

  • This study was performed to summarize application of ${\delta}^{13}C$, ${\delta}^{37}Cl$ and ${\delta}D$ of trichloroethylene (TCE) to studies on environmental forensic field regarding identification of TCE sources and evaluation of contribution of TCE to groundwater using data collected from literatures. ${\delta}^{13}C$, ${\delta}^{37}Cl$ and ${\delta}D$ of TCE give some information regarding sources of TCE because they show specific value according to manufacturing method. Also, TCE do not show a significant isotopic fractionation owing to adsorption and dilution. The isotopic fractionation mainly occurs by biodegradation. In addition, isotopic fractionation factor for TCE is different according to a kind of microorganism participated in biodegradation. However, the isotopic data of TCE have to be applied with chemical compositions of TCE and other hydrogeologic factors because isotopic fractionation of TCE is influenced by various factors.

Quantitative Estimation of Pollution Loading from Hwaseong Watershed using BASINS/HSPF (BASINS/HSPF를 이용한 화성유역 오염부하량의 정량적 평가)

  • A mathematical modeling program called Hydrological Simulation Program-FORTRAN (HSPF) developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was applied to Hwaseong watershed. It was run under BASINS (Better Assessment Science for Integrating Point and Nonpoint Sources) program, and the model was validated using monitoring data of $2002{\sim}2005$. The model efficiency of runoff ranged from good to fair in comparison between simulated and observed data, while it was from very good to poor in the water quality parameters. But its reliability and performance were within the expectation considering complexity of the watershed and pollutant sources. The nonpoint source (NPS) loading for T-N and T-P during the monsoon rainy season (June to September) was about 80% of total NPS loading, and runoff volume was also in a similar range. However, NPS loading for BOD ($55{\sim}60%$) didn't depend on rainfall because BOD was mostly discharged from point source (more than 70%). And water quality was not necessarily high during the rainy season, and showed a decreasing trend with increasing water flow. BASINS/HSPF was applied to the Hwaseong watershed successfully without difficulty, and it was found that the model could be used conveniently to assess watershed characteristics and to estimate pollutant loading including point and nonpoint sources in watershed scale.

Estimation of Partial Discharge Sources in a Model GIS through the Analysis of UHF Signals (UHF 신호 분석을 통한 모의 GIS내 부분방전원 추정)

  • This paper describes the analysis of the UHF signal characteristics due to the partial discharge sources which can exist in a GIS. For the experiment, a model GIS was made and 5 types of discharge source were created as follows; corona discharge, surface discharge, void discharge, discharge due to free particle, discharge from floating electrode. The frequency spectra and the phase characteristics of UHF signals were induced by UHF signal analysis. The results were quantified to systematically adapt to analyze the PD sources in the GIS and utilized as algorithm data based on the neural network for Back-Propagation Algorithm with a multi-layer structure. The perception rate of the constructed algorithm showed approximately 94[%] and 82[%] in learning and testing data, respectively.

Localization of Rotating Sound Sources Using Beamforming Method (빔형성방법을 이용한 회전하는 음원의 위치 판별에 관한 연구)

  • The positions of rotating sound sources have been localized by experiments with the Doppler effects removed. In order to de-Dopplerize the sound signals emitted from moving sources, two kinds of signal reconstruction methods were applied. One is the forward propagation method and the other is the backward propagation method. Forward propagation method analyze the source emission time based on the instantaneous distance between sensors and the assumed source position, then the signals are reconstructed with respect to the emission time. On the other hand, the backward method uses time delay to do-Dopplerize the acquired data for the received time of reference. In both techniques. the reconstructed signal data were processed using beamforming algorithm to produce power distributions at the frequencies of interest. Experiments have been carried out for varying frequencies, rotating speeds and the object distances. It is shown that the forward propagation method gives better performance in locating source position than the backward propagation method.
