The purpose of this study was to clarify whether or not alcohol drinking patterns are associated with sleep quality. A cross-sectional study was carried out by self-administered questionnaire in May, 2017 among 553 male workers who employed in manufacturing industries in D city. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate whether or not alcohol drinking patterns (as measured by frequency, amount of alcohol per day, and amount of alcohol per week) were associated with poor sleep quality (as measured by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index). As a result, in comparison with male workers who did not drink, the adjusted odds ratio for poor sleep quality was 0.44 (95% CI=0.232-0.845) for those who drank alcohol once a week or more, 0.31 (95% CI=0.192-0.829) for those who drank less than 1 glass daily, and 0.28 (95% CI=0.167-0.762) for those who drank 1-3 glasses daily. The results of this study suggest that some alcohol drinking patterns may affect sleep quality among male workers.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the number of existing permanent teeth and the denture usage status in elderly adults aged 65 years and above living in metropolitan cities and to confirm the degree of oral health inequality caused by the differences in oral conditions in each metropolitan city using the Lorenz curve and the Gini coefficient. Methods: The raw data for the analysis were obtained from the dataset of the sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted between 2013 and 2015. The subjects included 1,764 people who underwent oral examination and answered questions. The complex samples general linear model was used to analyze the number of existing permanent teeth adjusted for age and monthly household income. The proportion of edentulousness and the denture status was analyzed using complex samples crosstabs. Results: The number of existing permanent teeth in the elderly adults aged 65 years and above was lowest in Ulsan (15.41) and highest in Gwangju (20.44). The proportion of edentulousness was highest in Busan (14.5%) and lowest in Daejeon (4.0%). With regard to the proportion of denture users, Busan had the highest tendency for denture usage (50.4%) and Gwangju had the lowest tendency (34.9) (p=0.172). The Gini's coefficient for the number of existing teeth was lowest in Busan (0.332). Oral health inequality was most severe in metropolitan cities. Conclusions: We found that oral health inequality exists among elderly adults living in the metropolitan cities of Korea using the Lorenz curve and Gini's coefficient.
The purpose of this study is to present the effective management strategy of RI based on the results of research on the causal relationship between the regional medical care capacity and the hospital management performance by calculating the RI of the general hospitals in Korea, This research has significance. The results of this study are as follows: First, statistically significant differences were found in Number of beds and recurring profits in urban areas by the general characteristics. Second, the correlations between the RI and the variables of the regional medical use are as follows: Recurring profit ratio, New Outpatient Visits, Operating Margin, Daily Outpatient Visits per 100 Beds, Daily Inpatient Days per 100 Beds, and Average Charge per Inpatient Day. Based on the results of this study, the significance of this study is as follows. First, we calculated the affinity for local medical use, which is the index of local medical utilization. Secondly, it is analyzed according to internal and external environmental factors such as city size, hospital size, etc. It can be said that the hospital provided basic data for establishment of hospital management strategy to increase the utilization rate of local medical care.
Background: Sling exercises are frequently used for the rehabilitation process of patients with shoulder joint injuries, but research on the significant frequency intensity and appropriate treatment duration for sling exercises with local vibration stimulation is lacking. Objects: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of sling exercise with vibration on shoulder range of motion (ROM), muscle strength, pain, and dysfunction in patients with a medical diagnosis of shoulder joint injury. Methods: Twenty-two patients were randomly assigned to the experiment and control groups. Six sling exercises with and without 50 Hz vibrations were applied in the experiment and control groups, respectively. Each exercise consisted of 3 sets of 5 repetitions performed for 6 weeks. The assessment tools used included shoulder joint range of motion, muscle strength, pain level, and shoulder pain and disability index for functional disability. We conducted re-evaluations before and 3 and 6 weeks after intervention. The changes in the measurement variables were analyzed and compared between the two groups. Results: The ROM of the external rotation of the shoulder joint had a significant interaction between the group and the measurement point (F=3.652, p<.05). In both groups, we found a significant increase in external rotation angle between the measurement points (p<.05). The flexor strength of the shoulder joint significant interaction between the group and the measurement point (F=4.247, p<.05). Both the experiment (p<.01) and control groups (p<.05) showed a significant increase in shoulder flexor strength at the measurement points. After 6 weeks of the interventions, both the groups showed significantly improved VAS (p<.01), SPADI (p<.01), and orthopedic tests (p<.01). However, there was no significant difference between the group and the measurement point in terms of the clinical outcomes observed. Conclusion: The sling exercise with local vibration of 50 Hz affected the external rotation of the shoulder range of motion and improved shoulder flexor strength in the patients with shoulder injuries. Therefore, we propose the use of the sling exercise intervention with vibration in the exercise rehabilitation of patients with shoulder joint injuries.
Biological factors (e.g. microorganism activity) in wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) play essential roles for degradation and/or removal of organic matters. In this study, to understand the microbial functional roles in WWTP, we tried to isolate and characterize a bacterial strain from activated sludge sample. Strain S16 was isolated from the activated sludge of a municipal WWTP in Daejeon metropolitan city, the Republic of Korea. The cells were a Gram-stain-positive, non-motile, facultative anaerobe, and rod-shaped. Strain S16 grew at a temperature of $15{\sim}40^{\circ}C$ (optimum, $30^{\circ}C$), with 0~9.0% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 1.0~2.0%), and at pH 5.5~9.0 (optimum, pH 7.0~7.5). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences indicated that strain S16 was most closely related to the unique species Miniimonas arenae NBRC $106267^T$ (99.79%, 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity) of the genus Miniimonas. The cell wall contained alanine, glutamic acid, serine, and ornithine. Although the isolation source of the type strain NBRC $106267^T$ which considered as a marine microorganism is sea sand, that of strain S16 is terrestrial environment. It might raise an ecological question for habitat transition. Therefore, comparative genome analysis will be valuable investigation for shedding light on their potential metabolic traits and genomic streamlining.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between empathy ability and attitude toward mental illness in nursing college students. The subjects of this study were collected in June, 2017 for the 4th grade students attending the nursing department in D city. The data were collected using the SPSS.19 program. The results showed that empathy ability of nursing college students had a significant effect on the attitude toward mentally ill patients. The explanatory power of empathy ability on each subscale was 18% for benevolence, 16% for authoritarianism, 9 % for social restrictiveness, and 4% for community mental health ideology. In conclusion, the empathy ability of nursing college students was found to affect the attitude toward the mentally ill. As the empathy increased, the authoritarianism of the mentally ill was lowered, the benevolence was increased, the social life support and community mental health ideology was positive, so the positive attitude toward mental illness was increased overall. Therefore, it is necessary to systematically train and education nursing college students to develop empathy needed for the therapeutic relationship. These efforts will contribute to the improvement of the awareness of the mentally ill.

This study examined the relationship between job stress and fatigue symptom of fire-fighting officials. The study subjects were 330 fire-fighting officials working at five fire stations in the D metropolitan city. The study survey was a structured self-administered questionnaire from September 1 to October 31, 2019. The level of fatigue symptoms and job stress were significantly higher (p<.0.001). By the sub-region, the level of fatigue symptoms and job demand were significantly higher (p=0.046), but the decision latitude, the supervisor support, and co-worker support were lower (p=0.006, p<0.001, and p<0.001, respectively). The level of fatigue symptom showed a significant positive correlation with the total score of job stress (r=0.348, p<0.05) and the job demand (r=0.301, p<0.05). In contrast, it showed a significant negative correlation with the decision latitude (r=-0.306, p<0.05), supervisor support (r=-0.340, p<0.05), and co-worker support (r=-0.355, p<0.05). Multivariate logistic regression showed that the odds ratio of the high-risk fatigue group was significantly higher in the high-risk group of job stress than in the low group of job stress (ORs=3.03, 95% CI=1.13~8.12). These findings suggest that the level of fatigue symptoms of fire-fighting officials is related significantly to job stress.
This study is the quasi-experimental research of nonequivalent groups and is designed to investigate the effects of an aquatic exercise program with diabetes self management education on the self care efficacy, self care behaviors in diabetic patients in community. The subjects of this study were 26 patients in the experimental group who participated in the aquatic exercise program and 25 patients in the control group who did not paricipated in. And they were registered at the W Health Clinic in D city. The aquatic exercise program was conducted twice a week for 80 minutes, and consisted of a 30 minutes diabetes self management education and a 50 minutes aquatic exercise. After this program, there were significant differences in FBS(p=.047), HbA1c(p<.001), diabetes self efficacy(p<.001), and self care behaviors(p<.001). In order to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and prevent complications in the community, it is believed that the constant operation of aquatic exercise programs including self management education is necessary.

This study is a comparative descriptive research that identifies the degree and difference of the brain education meditation program from participation stress(physical stress, psychological stress), depression, resilience(self-control ability, interpersonal relationship ability, and positive) for middle-aged women. The subjects were 26 middle-aged women who participated in the brain education meditation program at the D metropolitan city D center for more than a year, 29 middle-aged women did not participate in the brain education meditation program and a total of 55 middle-aged women collected for three weeks from November 4 to 22, 2019. Data analysis fesult that the participating groups in brain education meditation programs differ statistically significantly in physical stress(t=2.549, p=.014), psychological stress(t=2.352, p=.022), self-control ability(t=-2.219, p=.031) and positive(t=-2.387, p=.021), which are higher factors in resilience than non-participating groups. In other words, brain education meditation program participants scored lower physical and psychological stress scores than nonparticipating groups, with higher self-control ability and positive scores. Therefore, it is thought that brain education meditation programs can be used as nursing intervention to reduce stress and improve self-control ability and positive in middle-aged women.
