In the fall of 1992, growth characteristics and cone-bearing behaviour of crown top shoots were investigated on Pin us koraiensis trees, belonging to age class VII and IV, in the School Forests, College of Forestry, Kangwon National University to obtain basic information for the design of Korean pine cone harvesting machine. The results were summarized as follows. 1. The length of terminal main shoots and lateral shoots of the trees in age class IV was 27~56cm and 18~47cm, respectively, both of which were significantly higher than those of the trees in age class VII. 2. There was no significant difference between two age classes in the branching angle ($24{\sim}89^{\circ}$) of lateral shoots and in the diameter (10~30mm) of two-year-old main shoots. However, one-year-old terminal main shoots of age class IV showed the higher diameter (9~18mm) than those of age class VII. 3. Mean cone number per tree was 5, and mean fresh weight of cone was 272g. No significant difference was found in these traits between both age classes. 4. Cones, on an average, hung on the two-year-old main shoots 15cm above the basal ends in age class VII and 33cm above in age class IV. Both lengths are equivalent to one half and four fifths of the shoots, respectively. 5. The fresh weight range of crown-top shoots containing cones was 1.0~7.4kg.
GichukJinchanEuigwe is a celebration of King Soonjo's 40th birthday and 30th accession to the throne. The Royal banquet was carried out on February 9th MunggunggunJinchan and JagyeongjeonJeongilJinchan 3 days later. JagyeongjeonJeongilJinbyulhangua is located beside JagyeongjeonJinchanan. The banquet table setting, table, dish level, and table type are different according to royal hierarchy class. Jinbulhangua is served to only the king, queen, crown prince, crown princess, and Myongon princess. The number of JagyeongjeonJinchanan served was as follows: king 30 plates, crown prince 20 plates, and Myongon princess 15 plates. Tableware used were brassware and pottery.
Resins were synthesized by mixing N-phenylaza-15-crown-5 macrocyclic ligand attached to styrene (2th petroleum in 4th class hazardous materials) divinylbenzene (DVB) copolymer with crosslink of 1%, 2%, 6%, and 12% by substitution reaction. The synthesis of these resins was confirmed by content of chlorine, element analysis, thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), surface area, and IR-spectroscopy. The effects of pH, equilibrium arrival time, dielectric constant of solvent and crosslink on adsorption of metal ions by the synthetic resin adsorbent were investigated. The metal ions were showed fast adsorption on the resins above pH 4. The optimum equilibrium time for adsorption of metallic ions was about two hours. The adsorption selectivity determined in ethanol was in increasing order uranium (VI) > zinc (II) > europium (III) ions. The uranium ion adsorbed in the order of 1%, 2%, 6%, and 12% crosslink resin and adsorption of resin decreased in proportion to the order of dielectric constant of solvents.
1-Aza-12-crown-4 macrocyclic ligand was combined with styrene (2th petroleum in 4th class hazardous materials) divinylbenzene copolymer having 1%, 2%, 3%, and 6% crosslinks by a substitution reaction, in order to synthesize resin. These synthetic resins were confirmed by chlorine content, elementary analysis and IR-spectrum. As the results of the effects of pH, equilibrium arrival time, crosslink of synthetic resin, and dielectric constant of a solvent on uranium ion adsorption for resin adsorbent, the uranium ion showed high adsorption at pH 3 or over and adsorption equilibrium of uranium ion was about 2 hours. In addition, adsorption selectivity for the resin in methanol solvent was the order of uranium ($UO_2{^{2+}}$) > iron ($Fe^{3+}$) > lutetium ($Lu^{3+}$) ions, adsorbability of the uranium ion was in the crosslinks order of 1%, 2%, 3%, and 6% was increased with the lower dielectric constant.
Objective: This retrospective, cross-sectional study aimed to establish reference data for normal crown and root lengths and the root-crown ratios (R/C ratios) for the mature maxillary and mandibular incisors in a Korean population by using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods: We included 672 Korean patients (141 men and 531 women; mean age, $27.2{\pm}7.7years$) who underwent CBCT examinations during various dental treatments. Crown and root lengths and the R/C ratios of the maxillary and mandibular incisors were measured using CBCT data, which were analyzed to detect significant differences between demographic factors as well as sagittal and vertical skeletal or occlusal relationships. Results: Teeth of the same type in each half-arch were symmetrical. The mean R/C ratios varied from 1.1 to 1.2 for the maxillary incisors and from 1.3 to 1.4 for the mandibular incisors. Crown and root lengths were greater in men than in women, regardless of tooth type. Root lengths and R/C ratios for the mandibular incisors were significantly greater in patients with skeletal Class II malocclusion or an excessive overjet than in the other patients. The R/C ratios for the mandibular incisors were lower in patients with an open bite than in those with a normal or deep bite. Moreover, the R/C ratios for the mandibular incisors increased with age. Conclusions: The data obtained in our study can serve as reference values for crown and root lengths and the R/C ratios for the maxillary and mandibular incisors in the Korean population.

In Class II amalgam restoration in deciduous molar, failure rate and incidence of recurrent caries are high as children become older. In order to preserve deciduous molars till the physiologic exfoliation time, stainless steel crown is a choice of the treatment. As a result of a careless treatment, such as overhanging margin, poor marginal adaptation, poor proximal contour and inadequate mesiodistal width give rise to interfering eruption of the adjacent teeth, recurrent caries and chronic gingival irritation and insufficient arch length respectively. In this study, 252 s.s. crowned teeth extracted due to physiologic exfoliation or periapical lesion. The purpose of this study is to analyze the marginal adaptation of stainless steel crown to the deciduous molar in order to obtain better clinical result. The results were as follows : 1. Between the length of s.s. crown and the marginal gap of crown, positive correlations were shown. 2. Largest amount of marginal gap was shown at buccal side in upper deciduous molars and lower first deciduous molar, lingual side in lower second deciduous molar. But no significant diffrence were found statistically compared to second most largest one. 3. Incidence of exposed restoration and recurrent caries were higher in proximal surface than buccal/lingual surface. And extension of restoration below the margin of s.s. crown gives rise to higher rate of recurrent caries. 4. Defect of contour was found in 34%, frequently found in lower 1st deciduous molar and upper 1st deciduous molar. 5. Marginal polishing defects were found in 23%. 6. Ledge was formed in 10% especially in lower 1st deciduous molar and lower 2nd deciduous molar. 7. 16% of the teeth had wear facet due to traumatic occlusion, 7% of them had occlusal perforation.
This investigation was designed to compare the calcification degree of maxillary second permanent molar to mandibular second permanent molar in skeletal Class III Malocclusion. The material selected for this study consisted in standand lateral cephalogram study model and orthopantomogram of two hundred fifty seven Korean Children, one hundred twenty one boys and one hundred twenty four girls, aged 6 through 12 years, having skeletal Class III Malocclusion. On the basis of findigs of this study, the following results were obtained 1. In the stage of completion of crown, there was no significant difference in calcification degree between maxillary second molar and mandibular second molar of both boys and girls in skeletal Class III Malocclusion. 2. From 8 years of age at the stage of beginning root formation to 12 years of age, the calcification degree of mandibular second molar was more advanced than Maxillary second molar of both boys and girls in skeletal Class III Malocclusion.

The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of forest management activities on canopy fuel characteristics for Pinus densiflora stands in South Korea. We used 1,085 managed stands data and 349 unmanaged stands data of the National Forest Inventory for this study, and it was estimated by using the Weibull function for the growth of stand and canopy fuel characteristics. Comparing the canopy fuel characteristics for the managed stands and unmanaged stands shows that the average canopy fuel load is about 14% higher than that of managed stands, and the canopy bulk density is also approximately 16% higher. The results of comparing growth projections for 40 years, 50 years and 60 years with the Weibull function are as follows: Over time, managed stands was predicted the maximum number of medium and large class diameter, while unmanaged stands was predicted maximum number of small and medium class diameter. From a fire fuel perspective, unmanaged stands are predicted to be of the type small class diameter and high density, which is a good condition for crown fire. In addition, Canopy fuel load, Canopy bulk density is relatively higher than managed stands, indicating that the possibility of high crown fire hazard.
Free-end partial dentures, which are supported by teeth surrounded by dental root membranes and elastic mucous membrane tissues, may cause stress to the abutment teeth due to external force imposed on the denture base, increase the mobility of the abutment teeth, and bring about a change in the periodontal tissue. General retainers used in partial dentures are categorized into clasp, attachment, and Konus crown. Stress imposed on the abutment teeth and mobility of the denture base have relations with the lifetime of a crown and abutment teeth, and have direct relations with the chewing ability. Thus, a need arises to make a comparative analysis of stress of the three direct retainers on the abutment teeth and interpret the mobility of the denture base. This study designed three kinds of removable partial dentures (one kind of attachment partial denture, one kind of Konus crown partial denture, and one kind of clasp partial denture), and fabricated Dentiforms of bilateral partial dentures (Kennedy Class I) with lower left 1st premolar and lower right 1st and 2nd premolars being as the abutment teeth. A strain gauge was installed in the mesial and distal surface of the lowerr left 1st premolar (No. 34) of the fabricated dentiform and in the lower part of the denture base, and installed were a clasp partial denture, an attachment partial denture, and a Konus crown partial denture. Then, the vertical static load of 5kgf and 7.5kgf at the occlusion surface of the lower left No. 6 molar was generated for a total of 20 frequencies of load each using a push-full gauge, and thus a change in the output of the strain gauge was measured. With the respective application of Konus crown, attachment and RPI clasp in the free-end partial denture, surveyed was the distribution of stress imposed on the abutment teeth and the denture base according to the location of occlusion force load so as to come up with the following results. 1. Konus crown and attachment partial dentures generated much stress, and more stress on the abutment teeth than RPI clasp dentures did. Attachment dentures tended to further intensify stress on the abutment teeth than Konus crown dentures did. 2. Attachment dentures and Konus dentures imposed less stress on the denture base than RPI clasp dentures did. There was no stress difference between Attachment and Konus crown dentures. 3. Dentures that were designed with the application of retainers using sturdy linkage methods tended to be less mobile.
