Understanding of a creep behavior in rocks under a constant load, due to visco-elastic properties of rock, is an essential element to predict a long term ground deformation. In order to clarify the creep characteristics of the mudstone in Duho formation at Pohang basin, deposited during Tertiary, a series of laboratory tests including physical properties, unconfined compressive strength and uniaxial creep tests, was performed. The mudstone showed a higher creep potential due to 26% of clay minerals such as illite and chlorite. The unconfined compressive strength of the rock was $462{\;}kg/\textrm{cm}^2$ in average, and four creep tests were performed under constant stress of 40 to 70 % of the strength. The creep constants in the empirical and theoretical equations were deduced from the time-strain curves obtained from the tests. Among the several equations, the empirical equation proposed by Griggs and theoretical equation of Burger’s model are appreciated as the best one to express the creep behavior of the mudstone. Instantaneous elastic strain was linearly increased with stress level but strain velocity during the first creep is decreased with a similar pattern by time lapse regardless the stress level.

Anisotropic consolidation, shear, a transportational component during or after deposition each may produce anisotropic fabrics, which result in the anisotropic properties of soils. Nevertheless, the isotropically consolidated compression triaxial tests are commonly used in practice to determine the strength of the anisotropically consolidated soils because of their practicality and simplicity. In this paper the effects of anisotropic consolidation on the strength properties of soils are discussed. For the sandy soils consolidated under a constant vertical consolidation pressure, the deformation modulus decreases with decreasing consolidation pressure ratio($\sigma$$\sub$3c/'/$\sigma$ sub 1c/'), but the liquefaction resistance increases. For the saturated cohesive soils, both the undrained shear strength and undrained creep strength decrese with decreasing the consolidation pressure ratio. When the in-situ strength properties of the anisotropically and normally consolidated soils are determined by the isotropically consolidated tests, the undrained shear strength and creep strength of saturated cohesive soils as well as the deformation modulus of sandy soils are measured to be higher than the rear in-situ values. This, therefore, could lead to a dangerous judgement in stability analysis

In this study, the experiments of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and special blended slag powder or diatom calcined at 650$\circ$ were performed on compressive strength, shrinkage and creep. The compressive strength of concrete with recycled aggregate and pozzolanic materials were higher than that of concrete with crushed stone and OPC. On the other hand, the shrinkage and creep of concrete with recycled aggregate and pozzolanic materials was smaller than that of concrete with crushed stone and OPC. Futhermore, the shrinkage and creep of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and special blended slag powder was a little decreased that of recycled aggregate concrete with fly ash and diatom. Relationship between compressive strength and creep coefficient was shown to the linear relation like as $\sigma$$_{c}$= -30CF+404.4.

In this study, the test results on creep properties of high strength concrete are shown compared with various prediction equations about creep. So in order to investigate the creep properties of high strength concrete, the application possibility of prediction equations about creep is studied compared with the equations in ACI-209 and CEB/FIP-90 for concrete produced using Portland cement.

In this paper, the real-time prediction of high temperature creep strength and creep strength and creep life for nickel-based superalloy Udimet 720 (high-temperature and high-pressure gas turbine engine materials) was performed on round-bar type specimens under pure load at the temperatures of 538, 649 and 704$^{\circ}C$. The predictive equation of ISM creep has better reliability than that of LMP and LMP-ISM, and its reliability is getting better for long time creep prediction(10$^3$~10sup/5/h).
Concrete filled steel tubes (CFSTs) are extensively used in a variety of structures due to their structural and economic advantages over other types of structures. Considerable research has been conducted with regards to their short-term behaviour, and very limited studies have focused on their long-term behaviour. In this study, a series of tests were carried out on high strength squat (short) CFSTs and concrete cylinders under controlled conditions of temperature and humidity to better understand their time dependent behaviour. A number of parameters were investigated including the influence of steel and concrete bond, confinement, level of sustained load and sizes of specimens. The results revealed that creep strains increased by more than 40% if there was no bonding between steel tube and concrete core. As expected, creep and shrinkage of concrete inside a steel tube were significantly less than those developed in exposed concrete. At the end of a creep period of six months, all the specimens were tested to failure to observe the influence of sustained loads on the ultimate strength. It was found that creep does not have a major effect on the strength of short CFSTs in the specific experimental study conducted here, which was less than 2.5%.
The Modified 9Cr-1Mo steel identified as T91, P91 and F91 in the ASME specification has been widely used for the construction of modern power plants. The available data on the influence of process parameters during manufacturing and fabrication on its properties are not sufficient. In this study, the influence of various thermal cycles on the hardness and the creep rupture strength was analyzed in the base metal and the weldments made in tube and pipe of a Mod.9Cr-1Mo steel. The low hardness, 155Hv, showed low creep rupture strength below the allowable stresses of T91 base metal in the ASME specification. This low value was attributed to the fully recovered dislocation structure and the weakening of precipitation hardening associated with the abnormal thermal cycles.

Creep characteristic is an important failure mechanism when evaluating engineering materials that are soft material as polymers or used as mechanical elements at high temperatures. One of the popular thermo-plastic polymers, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) which is used broadly for machine elements material, as it has excellent mechanical properties such as impact resistance, toughness and stiffness compared to other polymers, was studied for creep characteristic at different levels of stress and temperatures. From the experimental results, the creep limit of ABS at room temperature is 80 % of tensile strength which is higher than PE and lower than PC or PMMA. Also the creep limits decreased to linearly as the temperatures increased, up to $80^{\circ}C$ which is the softening temperature of Butadiene ($82^{\circ}C$). Also the secondary stage of creep among the three creep stages for different levels of stress and temperature was non-existent which occurred for many metals by strain hardening effect.
In order to check the effect of dislocation behavior on creep rate in 12% Chromium steel, 14 samples of different compositions were examined by creep rupture test, and subgrain sizes, distribution of dislocations and precipitates were checked. And, authors reviewed the behaviors of dislocations, the formation and growth of subgrains and precipitates during creep. The results are as the following: 1) Creep rates calculated by .epsilon. over dot = .rho.bv show 10-15% higher values than actual data measured. However, authors conclude that the density and velocity of dislocations together with subgrain size are important factors governing deformation during creep in 12% chromium steel. 2) The values of the strength of obstacles in the mobility of dislocations are more clearly depended on the effective stress in the range of $10{\pm}5kgf/mm^{2}$ and increase with the increase of temperature. 3) Creep rates decrease with the smaller sizes of subgrains formed and can result in the longer creep rupture lives(hours). The smaller subgrains can be made by forming shorter free gliding distances of dislocations with very fine precipitates formed in the matrix during creep by applying proper alloy design. 4) Dislocation mobility gets hindered by precipitates occurring, which are coarsened by the softening process governed by diffusion during long time creep.
